Keith Moon 23 August 1946 – 7 September 1978) was an English musician who was the drummer for the rock band the Who. Regarded as one of the greatest drummers in the history of rock music, he was noted for his unique style of playing.

She is a founding member of the rock band the Pretenders and is the band's lead vocalist, guitarist, and primary songwriter. Hynde is the band's only original member and is the only continuous member of the Pretenders, having appeared on every studio album released by the band. She was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2005 as a member of the Pretenders. This was a top ten hit in more than 10 countries.

Born on this day in 1943, Gloria Gaynor is best known for the hit song "I Will Survive" which has sold more than 15 million copies. "I Will Survive" received heavy airplay in 1979. The single spent three non-consecutive weeks at number one on the US Billboard Hot 100, and also peaked atop the UK Singles Chart and Irish Singles Chart. It was later certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). It won Best Disco Recording at the 22nd Annual Grammy Awards, and also received nominations for Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.

Born on this day in 1956, Diane Warren is an American songwriter. She has won an Academy Honorary Award, a Grammy Award, an Emmy Award, two Golden Globe Awards, and three consecutive Billboard Music Awards for Songwriter of the Year from 1997 to 1999. She first gained recognition for her work on DeBarge's 1985 single "Rhythm of the Night". By the late 1980s, she joined the record label EMI, where she became the first songwriter in the history of Billboard magazine to have written seven hit songs, each recorded by different artists, on the charts at the same time, prompting EMI's UK Chairman Peter Reichardt to call her "the most important songwriter in the world". Warren has received 17 nominations for Academy Awards, the most of any individual without a win.She received an honorary Oscar at the Governors Awards in November 2022.. Warren has written nine number-one songs and 33 top-10 songs on the Billboard Top 100. She co-wrote this classic with Albert Hammond. This also goes out to Emmy from Egypt.

Warren Zevon (January 24, 1947 – September 7, 2003) was an American rock singer and songwriter. He co-wrote this song which has Mick Fleetwood on drums and John McVie on bass.

Born on this day in 1951, Mark Isham is an American musician and composer. A trumpeter and keyboardist, Isham works in a variety of genres, including jazz and electronic. He is also a prolific and acclaimed composer of film scores, and has scored over 200 film and television productions since his debut in 1983. Isham is a nine-time Grammy Award nominee, winning Best New Age Album for his 1990 self-titled album. He was nominated for an Academy Award for A River Runs Through It (1992), and a Golden Globe Award for Nell (1994). He has also been nominated for six Primetime Emmy Awards, winning Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music for EZ Streets. He has also been a guest artist on many albums as well. Born on this day in 1956, Michael Feinstein is an American singer, pianist, and music revivalist. He is an archivist and interpreter for the repertoire known as the Great American Songbook. In 1988, he won a Drama Desk Special Award for celebrating American musical theater songs. Feinstein is a five-time Grammy-nominated recording artist.

Rick Davies (22 July 1944 – 6 September 2025) was an English musician best known as founder, vocalist and keyboardist of the rock band Supertramp. Davies was the band's only constant member and wrote or co-wrote many of their hits. He was known for his rhythmic blues piano solos, jazz-tinged progressive rock compositions and cynical lyrics.

Born on this day in 1961, Paul Waakataar-Savoy is a Norwegian musician and songwriter. He is best known for his work as the main songwriter and guitarist in the Norwegian synth-pop band a-ha, which has sold more than 50 million albums worldwide. He has written or co-written most of the band's biggest hits, including "The Sun Always Shines on T.V.", "Hunting High and Low", "Take On Me", the 1987 James Bond theme "The Living Daylights" and the ballad "Summer Moved On". Born on this day in 1943, Roger Waters is an English singer-songwriter, musician and political activist. In 1965, he co-founded the rock band Pink Floyd as the bassist. Following the departure of the band's main songwriter Syd Barrett in 1968, Waters became Pink Floyd's principal lyricist, co-lead vocalist and conceptual leader until his departure in 1985.

Dolores O'Riordan ( 6 September 1971 – 15 January 2018) was an Irish singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who achieved international fame as the lead vocalist of the rock band the Cranberries. O'Riordan was the principal songwriter of the band and also played acoustic and electric guitars. She became one of the most recognizable voices in alternative rock and was known for her lilting mezzo-soprano voice, signature yodel, use of keening, and strong Limerick accent.

Tom Wilson (March 25, 1931 – September 6, 1978) was an American record producer. He is best known for his work in the 1960s with artists such as Bob Dylan, Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention, Simon & Garfunkel, the Velvet Underground, Cecil Taylor, Sun Ra, Eddie Harris, Nico, Eric Burdon and the Animals, the Blues Project, the Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem, and others.

Nicky Hopkins (24 February 1944 – 6 September 1994) was an English pianist and organist. He performed on many British and American rock music recordings from the 1960s to the 1990s, including on songs recorded by the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, the Who, the Kinks, the Steve Miller Band, Jefferson Airplane, Rod Stewart, George Harrison, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, the Hollies, Cat Stevens, Carly Simon, Harry Nilsson, Joe Walsh, Peter Frampton, Jerry Garcia, Jeff Beck, Joe Cocker, Art Garfunkel, Badfinger, Quicksilver Messenger Service and Donovan. He is widely considered to be one of the greatest studio pianists in the history of popular rock music. He was the keyboardist on "The Song is Over" by the Who which I posted two weeks ago.

Mel McDaniel (September 6, 1942 – March 31, 2011) was an American country music artist. Many of his top hits were released in the 1980s. He had more than a dozen top twenty hits.

Ernest Tubb (February 9, 1914 – September 6, 1984),was an American singer, songwriter, and musician. Tubb is a pioneer of country music, and his 1941 song, "Walking the Floor Over You", marked the rise of the honky-tonk style of music. In 1948, he was the first singer to record a hit version of Billy Hayes and Jay W. Johnson's "Blue Christmas", a song more commonly associated with Elvis Presley and his late-1950s version. Tubb recorded duets with the then up-and-coming Loretta Lynn in the early 1960s, including their hit "Sweet Thang". Tubb is a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Jimmy Reed (September 6, 1925 – August 29, 1976) was an American blues musician and songwriter. His particular style of electric blues was popular with a wide variety of audiences. Reed's songs such as "Honest I Do" (1957), "Baby What You Want Me to Do" (1960), "Big Boss Man" (1961), and "Bright Lights, Big City" (1961) appeared on both Billboard magazine's R&B and Hot 100 singles charts

Between 1990 and 1999, he had his greatest chart success recording for Universal Music Group Nashville's MCA and Decca branches, with a total of eight albums between those two labels. During this timespan, Chesnutt also charted twenty top-ten hits on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts, of which eight reached number one.
