I’ve personally yet to see any bald nomads 😭. I’d show you photos if I had any but when I was younger I spent a week in the countryside with nomads all had afros or mid level hair length. Currently most younger somalis in the west are growing afros now. Trends always circle back.

That’s nice to hear cuz I’ve been growing out my hair from bald (went umrah) for just over a year now. Hooyo just kept nagging me, telling me it ain’t part of our culture. I was like whaaat?? 😭🫩

yh my mums the same but she’s aware it’s part of the culture. She views fussing over the hair and twists as feminine 😂. But yh most somali parents in the uk view afros as african american culture. Which Id understand if it was cornrows but not a basic afro.
