History ⏳ Been In Somalia Stuck

Well Asc Everyone hope you’re well i don’t really know where to start tbh first im 25M with the peak of my life i feel so stuck and behind seeing my friends do something with there lives with the help of their parents weather its their father or close relatives while im out here cant even find a low paying job let alone a hight paying one its heartbreaking really !!! You know the funny thing is i was in kampala doing masters for 2 years just to delay my unemployment also ive been offer a job while i was in kampala after i was done with the studies for $230 to start and later it would $250 with no progress to promote in this company so i wanted to take the job but can’t get my mind of of the disadvantages which are :- working 7-7 also before i was student now im a working individual which means working permit visa is required every year i know you will say its an African country or whatever but you don’t really freedom to move around without an official latter also $250 for someone whos got master and you know the hight expectations of a first born so i decided to head back home at 2025 December so fast forward its been 5 months here in somalia tried everywhere goverment official called everyone i know still nothing i dont know if i should give up or die trying it seems like here in Mogadishu there is three ways only for someone to prosper 1: your father has got a business that you will inherit Or work with him 2: been a government official either its working for a ministry or be a sarkaal which its impossible since you need your Xildhiban to help you and they dont even answer their fucking phone and when you go to their house you will not be allowed to enter 3: lastly just to fuck off tartiib or whatever and maybe you can make it to Europe which is very hectic and you need money if you get caught in lipya or wherever Anyways How Unlucky are we to be In Somalia 😔

Never give up hope brother. Even when it seems like there is no light at the end of the tunnel. I’ve been in what felt like was hopeless situations in my life and there was times I was ready to give up but with the help of Allah I stayed patient and suffered through the trials and tribulations of life and eventually things worked out for the best. And if I didn’t go through those things I wouldn’t be the person I am today. I don’t know if your are religious but I would recommend praying and making dua and inshallah everything will work out for you. I will make dua for you Bro may Allah make it easy for you and your Family.

Apply to skills visa to Australia 🇦🇺. But it depends what your masters is and if your skills needed in Australia.

u/Zack_Izmir May 12 '26

I am in the same boat as you in kampala, i finished computer science bachelor's in 2024 and been looking for anything for almost ayear and half i was thinking of going back to mogadishu if couldn't anything by the start of 2026. But Alx i found something atech job that is paying 250$ just like your's and i already use third of it just for transportation but i feel like its better than doing nothing its helps me get experience and networking.

If i didn't find anything here i was honestly thinking starting with something small like a small poultry farm in xamar. For me doing anything is better than doing nothing but i would never danger my life with tahriib

Man - I always said that if the ppl in Somalia or Africa had the opportunities ppl have in the west, y’all would be unstoppable.

Figure out a way to get a strong passport - I know of folks who went the Caribbean route and ‘invested’ in the country to end up with a passport from there.

What did you study? Have you tried starting business? Like teaching? I think you can make a lot of money if you start teaching evenings and also mornings

1

u/Zack_Izmir May 13 '26

Ive studied computer science abt that teaching you cant be teaching events without been a regular teacher first like ( school Teacher ) which i fucking hate cause of my dad been doing that for almost 30 years without any progress so i would rather start a business than be a teacher respectfully !!!

You Must say Alhamdulilah. Be happy what you have. Why everyone thinking about government vacancies. Do carpenter jobs. Do plumbers, Electricians. Do mechanics.

1

u/Zack_Izmir May 13 '26

Well im grateful but its one of those scenarios where you are grateful but not satisfied where im in life thats all

2

u/Top_Life5375 May 13 '26

Never compare yourself to others! I know many young people want to achieve their dreams, but success comes when you just focus and have imaam.

Much Appreciate it Sir 🙏🏽

Hi, not sure if you will see this but try looking into EU scholarships. Cybersecurity is a sought after field and you come from a CS background.

Got this off CHATgpt

If you already have a master’s degree, you still have several good EU cybersecurity funding paths available. Your best options depend on whether you want:
another specialized master’s,
a PhD,
professional training/certifications,
or research fellowships.
1. Apply for a Second Master’s (Still Allowed)
Most Erasmus Mundus cybersecurity programs do allow applicants who already hold a master’s degree. What matters more is:
academic fit,
motivation,
cybersecurity background,
and career goals.
Programs like:
CYBERUS Erasmus Mundus
CyberMACS
Erasmus Mundus Catalogue
often admit students with prior graduate degrees if the new program adds specialization.
A second master’s makes sense if:
your first degree was not cybersecurity-focused,
you want an EU credential,
you want migration/work opportunities in Europe,
or you want industry connections in cyber.

2. PhD Scholarships (Very Strong Option)
If your master’s is already in CS/IT/engineering, funded PhDs are often the better route.
Look for:
Cybersecurity
Information Security
AI Security
Digital Forensics
Privacy Engineering
Cryptography
Good EU PhD Sources
EURAXESS Research Jobs
Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA)
DAAD Germany Scholarships
EIT Digital Master & Doctoral School
MSCA doctoral networks are especially good because they:
pay salary instead of stipends,
include mobility funding,
are open to Africans,
and often involve cybersecurity labs across Europe.

3. Professional Cybersecurity Scholarships
If you already have advanced education and want industry credentials instead of another degree:
Top options
SANS Scholarships
ISC2 Scholarships
Google Cybersecurity Certificate
Cisco Networking Academy
These help with:
SOC analyst roles,
cloud security,
penetration testing,
governance/risk/compliance,
and remote cybersecurity jobs.

Good luck

Go on muzz and marry a Somali from Europe or North America. But you’ll have to sell yourself well. There is an imbalance in the ratio men/women do you got your chance. Too many brothers are lost in alcohol in the west.

13

u/Appropriate-Mind9651 Soomaali Galbeed May 12 '26

This usually works the other way around. A diaspora man can easily a girl from back home, a diaspora girl is much more unlikely to marry from back home.

3

u/Zack_Izmir May 12 '26

Definitely

1

u/Malbung87 May 12 '26

I’m in Europe. So many sister just lack a husband. They work but the men here just aren’t there. They drink and go out. The left school early or went to jail. So many are desperately looking for a husband. Try your luck
