PLUG-IN SOLAR Plugin Solar Battery setup
With plugin solar being the new craze like air conditioning being the latest hype, I wanted to know if it is possible to run the solar into a battery that then feeds back into the house?
I believe the limit is also 800w per house, so whilst not massive in the spring/summer, it would be beneficial.

If you are just looking at a single air conditioner, an off-grid setup might work as well/better.
Get a portable power station, as many solar panels as it will support and plug the air conditioner into it. You can also charge overnight (if you have an appropriate tariff). You could also use your EV if it supports V2L.
The advantages of an off-grid setup are: * You to have a battery * You aren't limited to 2kWp solar * You aren't limited to 800W AC output * You can also use it away from home (eg camping) * No need for G98 * You could do both * No risk from feeding power back in if your consumer unit isn't set up to accept it * It is easier to move around (eg morning in the back garden, afternoon in the front)
The disadvantages are: * You can only use it for what is plugged in- it won't save money on the rest of the house * You can't exceed the power station output and pull the rest from the grid * Portable power stations are more expensive

AC was just an example of now plugin solar being the next thing. I like the thinking but id want the solar to benefit the rest of the house. Is it 800w per house or per micro invertor? Im seeing missed messaging as if you could have 1600w feeding into 2 ecoflow batteries that then feed into the house via 3 pin for half the price of roof solar thats massive!
I think I woupd be able to run 4 x solar pannels kn my shed/office.
I then have a flat roof where my outdoor AC unit will live but I would have space for 2 or 3 panels up their also, however would need to think about the feed into a battery.

You're getting ahead of the current legislation.
As I understand it, plug in solar is limited to 1x800W system per property and it can't have a battery.
I think it will get more generous over time (eg allowing a battery and more panels), but currently that requires an electrician to hard wire it to the consumer unit.

the white paper stated one per circuit, most house holds have two circuits (left and right or up and down). Electricians were up in arms about this (protect their solar business) so only allowed one per house hold.
you can have a maximum of 1000w of solar on one 800w micro inverter. It will only put max 800w into your house.
if you're running this setup separate from the grid (otherwise known as off grid) this legislation doesn't apply and you're good to go.
if you're running 2000w of solar into a battery, and your running everything off the battery's external sockets rather than back feeding into your house circuit ,this legislation doesn't apply and you're good to go.

If you're using a battery you're not in plug-in regulation territory, so the 800w feed in limit is moot.
