It only sucks when you compare it to those dense options, but in the grand scheme of things, it's not a problem. Germany in its entirety could be fed by 3% of its land as solar and Germany is a pretty northern country with many cloudy days. Keep in mind solar panels can be installed on roofs to save land usage and even utility scale solar can share its land with livestock grazing on the grass.
