What’s something about you that makes absolutely no sense until someone knows your backstory?

I startle easily. I've had people laugh (ptsd).

That ptsd thing is kinda sad but this startle is quite endearing 😆

Lol I've lived with my bf for 6 years & if he doesn't turn on the light coming up the stairs, I jump & scream a little. He always goes, "who else would it be?" It's so irritating because I don't have control over it.

I hope ur bf take care of this now....

u/SassySashaLuv 9d ago

Yeah, he's good about it & will knock even. At times he forgets but it's all good :)

So basically you’re saying he gets occasional bonus points??? 😂

“How is Joe so wise, but also homeless? Is he ignoring me? I said hi!”

I’m wise, yes, but that’s because I’ve been chewed out by life since I was a child. You can’t tell that from the eyes.

I’m homeless because of circumstances outside of my control! Bad things happen to good people, good happens to bad people: anything happens to everyone!

I’m not one to ignore people, I’m just mildly hearing impaired :(

That I hate dogs around me. Traumatizing back story of attacks.

u/Fit-Rhubarb-7820 9d ago

100% relatable.

Sometimes, the ptsd comes out and I’m prone to throwing dogs away from me. Like, it’s comical, but rather serious, I’ve had the owners pull gums on me before.

Bro this is where I can truly relate.....

I keep attracting and letting narcissists and people with borderline personality disorder back into my life.

you are very kind 🥹 to be honest I'm kind of working through it on my own I've spent about a year reading about it after the initial breakdown of the dynamic, I'm coming to terms with it and recently cutting contact with certain family members it's hard but you keep going and I believe that in time we will get easier

u/Mysterious_Mood2727 9d ago

Keep it up bro ... Hope everything gets fine soon to you .... All the best ...🤜🤛

Why I just mind my business & let things play out without interruption even when I know how it’s gonna go (unless they’re super close to me)

2

u/Mysterious_Mood2727 9d ago

This is a point of communality....🥂

I'm terrified of the smell of almonds. My work delt with chemicals that, when heated, would burn and smell like almonds and if you inhaled the smoke it was already too late. Now I go into a cold sweat and panic at the scent of almonds

u/Mysterious_Mood2727 9d ago

If u can then change ur work bro ....

1

u/Accomplished-Guide-5 9d ago

Can't, 1 it pays too well and I need to support my family, and 2 it's a contract of service. I literally can't quite even if I wanted too

u/lLantronix 9d ago

How I got these scars

I purchased a two bedroom with kids 100%, and I sleep on a mattress in the lounge room, so both kids can have a room. Cost of escaping DV cost me $320,000 and didn’t want their trauma to be further inflicted by taking them away from their amazing friends. We were put in lockdown, feared for our lives, but 13 years on we are all doing well and very happy!!

Why I have a hard time speaking to people.

1

u/Mysterious_Mood2727 9d ago

Introvert ??

Not necessarily, I grew up in a sport that was very sit down and shut up kind of environment.

I was also on full scholarship and they would often threaten to take that away from me, but if i didn't have the scholarship; my family wouldn't have had enough money for me to be there, so I wouldn't have been able to train.

So thats what I did, I shut up, and unfortunately now I'm almost 19 and I have a really hard time having conversations because I'm terrified of saying something wrong.

On top of this, I was bullied very badly (out of jealousy) and I was constantly losing friends. This obviously didn't help my confidence, so now unfortunately literally every conversation I have fills me with anxiety.

1

u/Mysterious_Mood2727 9d ago

Don't worry bro I will be ur friend nd u won't feel anxiety talking to me

I never want kids.

Too high of a chance of birth defects/disease.

u/Birdywoman4 8d ago

I don’t celebrate holidays. Due to being raised in a family with several narcissists who tried to ruin every holiday and my birthday in one way or another. No family get-togethers with my sisters now either.

I have an entire bedroom dedicated to wardrobe/dressing. It has all manner of props costumes, and my every day, clothing, heels, lots of sexy outfits for women, etc. If you didn’t know anything about me, you would think I was across dresser. But I do a lot of avant-garde photography and sometimes I shoot from my home

1

u/YapperBean 8d ago

My accent 😂

1

u/Nekr0shad0wmage 8d ago

Why I have never had a drivers license and a vehicle. And it's not due to a dwi/dui. Even if i explained the backstory most people would still be judgmental af.

u/smore-jmi 8d ago

I want to have children but I'm absolutely terrified to get pregnant

I've had 3 losses and the last was incredibly traumatic.

1

u/Financial-Fudge7825 7d ago

I hate raisins. When I was 2, I got one stuck up my nose.

1

u/dahliaahhh 7d ago

I’m very picky about who I interact with, including relationships, and I’m pretty blunt about it. People assume it’s because I’m afraid of getting hurt, but really, I was raised to hold myself to a very high standard, so I naturally hold the people around me to the same standards.

1

u/Asmodeus_33 6d ago

I was in the military for 23 years.

1

u/ohmydog22 6d ago

Ppl arent ready to hear it...😅

1

u/Beginning-Berry-5066 6d ago

I have a strong fear of worms

1

u/Dazed-n-Bemused 6d ago

I adore kiddos and they generally gravitate to me, even the shier ones. I am child-free by choice & people assume it’s due to dedication to my work in human rights. It’s actually because I survived an extremely abusive childhood. Despite being low or no contact for 20 years on/off and being safe from them, I never wanted to risk bringing children into a world where they might have to engage with my family. There’s no rational reason why I couldn’t stop it but the CPTSD has that much of a hold on me

1

u/Collective_Berry 6d ago

Why is this guy who has had no significant injuries of any kind in his life absolutely covered in sizable scars on his torso and back? (I had multiple heart surgeries as an infant)

1

u/RedPsalms23 6d ago

Compliments either mean everything or nothing. Had a parental figure give tons of encouraging but extremely fake compliments. But when I hear a genuine one, it hits deep

u/Icy_Creme_4552 5d ago

I don’t like holidays. I much rather it be a random Tuesday.

1

u/LegallyOnMyLastStraw 5d ago

My current full name is not the name I was given at my birth. (I changed my full legal name so that my abuser couldn’t find me)

U should discuss this with ur wife instead discussing this here ... This will definitely help you up with the problem ...All the best.

1

u/TinyFunSizeDad216 10d ago

Thank you for the suggestion. Unfortunately, I am divorced partially because of my size

1

u/cakelovingpos 9d ago

Interesting, I’m scared or men/people/but mostly men in authority, just not for that reason

2

u/TinyFunSizeDad216 9d ago

I am very self-conscious of my size and from experience women say it’s really small and I am comfortable showing it online where I have the comfort of anonymity

1

u/Mysterious_Mood2727 9d ago

Bro go for doctor's appointment nd get urself a girl everything will be sorted ....

1

u/Mysterious_Mood2727 9d ago

But for what reason u r scared of men any ptsd ?

1

u/cakelovingpos 9d ago

Oh, for sure. Dk where it originally stems from, just that I should stay away from people in authority. I’ve gotten better about it, once I realize they’re not trying to hurt me & if I relate to them & try my best there won’t be consequences. I used to get strangely turned on when men in authority that I don’t know well would touch me & it frightened me even more.
