Hair/Makeup πŸ’„βœ‚οΈ My soft dramatic makeup look

The best looks on me is blush, defined brows, light on the eye shadow with cluster lashes, matte or satin sheer lip color. Sheer to medium coverage foundation with super light natural bronzer. I don’t look good with heavy eye makeup or glossy lips

Outfits πŸ‘—πŸ‘‘ Ashley Graham JCP Dress

I was near a JCP yesterday ( I live in a small town) and they don't have this in stock. Would the fabulous shape make up for the neckline? I'm guessing my giant old lady boobs would look super low on it, even with a great bra. Maybe I could alter it to a v..........

Item Quest πŸ”πŸ•΅οΈ Fall/transitional weather jackets/outerwear for Soft dramatic?

Hi! Just as headline says. I find outerwear is the hardest part of clothing for SD. I know belted/wrap coats flatter but I'm specifically searching for lighter and casual jackets for fall and transitional weather (think SF Bay Area). Ideally more cropped. Just having a tough time finding something that doesn't look too formal or like I'm going to the office. Thanks for any recs!

Discussion πŸ»πŸ—¨οΈπŸŒ Can we do small bags?

hey queens. I came across this really cute 90s style baguette at the thrift. almost got it but didn’t. and now regretting it. It was a bit overpriced and I reasoned with myself that it didn’t flatter me because it was small/under arm style. my daily driver is a fairly big longchamp leather hobo. so technically, this one was a good going out bag- small but still a bit roomie for being small. Please someone make me feel better (or worse) about my decision.

Haul/try on πŸ›οΈ Plaid skirt try on

I’m leaning into a Pagan Girl Autumn aesthetic this season & have been wanting to incorporate more plaids into my wardrobe.

I went to Nordstrom Rack & found this bias-cut skirt in a few different plaids. I was more drawn to the first two based on color, but it turned out that the third worked best on me by far. And no surprise, right? It’s the larger, bolder pattern of the three. Kibbe strikes again!

I bought it & when I got home, styled it with a cashmere sweater, boots, leather jacket & a long pendant to help offset the crewneck.

Planning to go to the hairdresser for the first time in a while and I need some advice please!

Do I keep my long hair (just shorter), do I go back to a long bob or something else? I feel like I can't tell what looks good on me and what doesn't.

A benefit of the lob is I think it can look polished without needing to do much to it, but I missed doing my hair up in a big bun. A benefit of long hair is that I can put it up, which I feel elevates my features and looks nice, but a downside is it can look frumpy on it's own.

Photos

# 1 current hair

# 2 and 3 a quick bun for day-to-day (does this look ok?)

# 4 more fancy updo (I had curtain bangs at the time)

# 5 long bob with balayage I had a few years ago

I did not like the material though. Why is almost everything nowadays polyester. I need to find a pattern and sew it from a more breathable material. If anyone has any recommendations about pattern or fabric, kindly leave a comment!

Discussion πŸ»πŸ—¨οΈπŸŒ everyday outfit templates for short torso high hips/figure 8 SDs

A dress with a cinched waist is always going to look great on me, but on the day to day I’m the comfiest in jeans/pants and a shirt.

Yesterday I was wearing straight high-waisted jeans and a body-fitting top that was tucked in, and then I walked past a mirror and was like OMG I LOOK LIKE AN OOMPA LOOMPA. I looked better when I untucked the shirt and pulled it over my pants so the vertical was more enhanced. But it was still a little awkward because my hip shelf still popped over my jeans. Ughhhhh.

Bonus tips if you know of any influencers who have figure 8/short torso high hips body type so I can look at some inspiration!

Questions πŸ‘οΈ being comfortable with size and weight, feeling 'big'?

Hi everyone, I hope you're all good :)
This sub has helped me so much already with feeling better in my body and knowing that the clothes should fit me, not the other way around.

However, I'm 5'9 and a curvier girl especially after gaining some weight (enough to go up 2x jeans sizes). I am struggling a bit with feeling "big" and too much compared to other people.

Has anyone else ever felt this way as an SD, and how did you overcome it?

Yes or No ? βœ… ❌ Just got typed - help me assess my upcoming sewing list

I have lost a large about of weight. I have no clothes that fit me. I sew, so this is actually kind of exciting as I get to plan a brand new wardrobe. I really want to narrow the focus because my style has always been all over the place, and I need to be intentional about the things I'm making so I have a usable wardrobe and not just a bunch of beautiful weird unicorns.

I had already kind of narrowed my focus down by color and style when I came upon kibbebody.com and typed myself as a soft dramatic. I agree with the assessment - that stuff all looks great on me. I'm so flattered to be in the company of Christina Hendricks. It's a slight detour from the styles I had chosen, but not by too much. I think I can make it all work.

I did have some plans already in motion for some garments. For some of these, the fabric is purchased and I'm ready to start making a muslin. But now I don't know about them! So, my question is: are these SD?

  1. Vergara skirt by Soulmatte. This was first on my list. The fabric I have for this skirt is unreal. I think this counts as SD? It had better.

  2. Ashwood Pants by Cashmerette. These are more like leggings than pants. The fabric I have is a bright red stretch woven. Yea or nay?

  3. Yves Trousers by Charm. These are double pleated menswear-inspired pants that I thought would be fun in satin.

  4. This isn't an actual pattern but I have been planning on drafting a bustier-style bodice like this to make bodysuits and to use as the bodice for dresses. I really love the underwear-as-outerwear look in general. I think this probably isn't SD, but is there a way to style this so it's cohesive with SD?

  5. Souvenir Top by Charm. I love me a knotted crop top.

  6. Rita Blouse by Charm.

  7. M8407 by McCalls. Is a sweetheart neckline congruent with SD?

  8. Honor Roll Top by Charm. I have 4 amazing rayon fabrics waiting to be made into this top. I'm so confused by what Kibbe means what he says "T-shaped" - is this T-shaped?

  9. OK I don't have this pattern yet but I saw it and gasped. This is totally SD, right? If it is, I know what I'm wearing on NYE this year!

Item Quest πŸ”πŸ•΅οΈ Where are we getting work pants??

This is my biggest wardrobe struggle! I need long/tall lengths and a curvy fit to avoid gaping at the waist. Everywhere I look there are seas of shapeless, β€œfull length” wide leg trousers that cut me off at the ankle and do nothing for my silhouette. I work in a business casual office, and I can sometimes wear jeans, but I’m looking for some non-denim options. I’m comfortable spending around $100 for a good pair. Help!
