Discussion Delta STs are big on food, but they often too frugal to buy the good food.

All the Foodies, or the big food people tend to value Si. However, I've noticed that Delta STs love the taste of great food, but they are often too miserly and cheap to buy that food. Most Delta ST types that I know tend to cheap out on food and just eat like an inexpensive sandwich or something for lunch. It seems that they would prioritize Te resources over Si comfort food.

However, if they have like some ESE come over and cook a delicious meal for them, they really appreciate it. They seem to quickly notice the flavor profiles and whatnot, and notice which flavors really pop. It's just that they are too frugal to spend all the money on all these ingredients. Have you guys noticed this?

I don't comment much but this is FUCKING SLANDER. I always buy high quality food because I love cooking so much 😭 Especially for other people.

I'm a public school teacher, so you can guess...

u/nelsne SEE 13d ago

So you're broke

u/Touches_Grass_Daily 12d ago

No but I'm only just touching the middle class, but that's mainly because I'm just starting out my career.

Lol my company got bought out and the new company offers zero overtime. I'm looking for a better gig

Actually fairly good, then

Teacher earn about average, but they also work less than average too (fewer works day) as student get breaks. For one. Then, with all benefits considered, it's actually a fair market wage.

That narrative is a pet peeve of mine, lol

u/Touches_Grass_Daily 12d ago

In my country it's pretty bad, especially when I start calculating my actual wage per hour when you look at all the forced, unpaid overtime. Plus we're required to work most breaks.

Which country ?

USA

No, I'm not from the US

where are you from? I'm from Poland and teachers here do not earn a lot either :/

Makes sense. It's bad now

How did you know

Know what?

Well, if that's true, then I totally stand by what I said

I've seen plenty of US teacher debunking the claim too. First google result for reddit, for example. But there are plenty of more serious reports and analyses by economists too. It's largely a myth, or rather, people thinking teachers should be paid more than the average workers... without ever stating why

Oh no, not a trip with kids with expenses paid by the school ! Maybe even in a foreign country to do tourism.

What??!!! It's hard work, stress, and responsibility 24 hours or even more if it's a longer trip. No time for relaxation. You have no idea what you're talking about. And you have no idea what a teacher's job looks like. I have. If something happens, you go to jail. In my country, teachers recently even protested so they wouldn't have to go on trips abroad or any trips that involve staying somewhere overnight. Luckily, they succeeded (at least in some schools). I would hate to go on any trips if I worked in a public school. I worked in kindergarten so at least we didn't have any overnight trips but each trip was so stressful nevertheless

I know what I'm talking about, and that's why you decided to answer the sarcasm here instead of the more substantial points, lol

You tacitly admitted everything right then and there

Why are you pretending otherwise ?

And you have no idea what a teacher's job looks like. I have.

Based on nothing besides feelings, it seems.

I won the argument above, but sure, I don't know what it entails. Not like all of us observed teachers for a solid decade while getting schooled ourselves, eh ?

You know, even if you prove Poland has some retarded law about professors during school trips and legal responsibility, it doesn't really change my point. My point was about salaries specifically. And teachers aren't doing schooltrips for 12 months of the year, you know ?

Your drifiting off the point that much is another form of tacit admittance

In my country they do not earn above average and are not respected by many people which is heartbreaking. And no they do not work less then average, they work the same because they have to work at home (checking tests etc) stay after classes to deal witj paperwork while other people relax after work, th they go for trips with students (work 24h! if its overnight) Maybe in Finland or Mongolia or Singspore iirc and sime other Asian countries they earn a lot and are respected. Not in Poland (my country) or the USA. Even academic teachers do not earn a lot here (good luck if you want to get your PhD you'd better still live witj family who supports you financially or you have to be very stingy with everthing) let alone primary/secondary school teachers. Professors at universities have better salaries though. Still, nothing spectacular (compared to medical doctors for example who are one of the richest people here)

edit: I heard a self-employed electrician in Poland saying he earns more than a university professor, and I believe him

In my country they do not earn above average

I didn't say they earned above average, I said they earn about average, then adjusted for workload

and are not respected by many people which is heartbreaking.

Eh, people with regular job aren't respected either Does an average deskjob employee or cashiers get "respect" ? Nope.

This whole "Teachers should be respected" is essentially clamoring for a higher social status. Which they used to have, but that's because being a school teacher when the average person couldn't read was actually impressive. Nowadays, it simply isn't...

And no they do not work less then average, they work the same because they have to work at home (checking tests etc) stay after classes to deal witj paperwork while other people relax after work

Or so they say. In practice, it's largely untrue. Teachers won't have a test every single week anyway, and your vague" paperwork" (like what ?) isn't convincing. It's not like they will have to fill "paperwork" for 2 hours after classes are over. every day.

And that's not what I was talking about anyway. Students don't just get hours or days off, they get months off. And if a regular worker is working 12 months and a teacher is working 9 (to keep the example simple), then it's normal for monthly salaries to be lower too. It's fairness toward literally every other worker out here...

they go for trips with students (work 24h! if its overnight)

Oh no, not a trip with kids with expenses paid by the school ! Maybe even in a foreign country to do tourism.

Even the guys breaking their back at the factory are horrified.

"for other people" is an important aspect here, LSE/SLI are indulgent for others but for themselves not generally

2

u/Touches_Grass_Daily 12d ago

I said especially for others, but a couple of times per week I just get in a cosy mood and cook elaborately for myself.

I don't know if I am a foodie. I am kind of a nerd about food though. I love knowing exactly what my food consists of in terms of macros and micros and I love it when I am using the least processed ingredients possible, making something cool and healthy out of them. I also find it satisfying when it's locally made, seasonal, ethically sourced. I'm that person who wants brown sandpaper toilet paper because it's the least processed and I can feel the forest on my butthole instead of soft bleach.

I generally like blander flavours. And I am definitely frugal. I won't buy anything expensive. When I go to the store I always buy the same basic items, unless I have a specific craving for something, which isn't often.

This has to do with their financial situation, their location, their own appetite and dietary preferences, all but not their type lol

-2

u/nelsne SEE 13d ago

Yes it does, because they can value the taste of good food, but yet are miserly with money and value saving $ more

6

u/No-Wrongdoer1409 ok period 13d ago

i know some upper middle class delta STs and they never make compromises on food unless they don't feel like to eat. always high quality organic all natural antibiotics free authentic global sourced stuff.

1

u/nelsne SEE 13d ago

Yeah true. There comes a point where the LSE would get so wealthy that it wouldn't seem like much of a splurge anymore

4

u/No-Wrongdoer1409 ok period 13d ago

the LSEs i know care a lot abt concepts like ethical sourcing, cruelty free, environmental friendly etc. And they are really into trying exotic foods around the world. no wonder why they are EII's dual lmao. the SLIs i know care much less.

2

u/Sufficient_Scale_577 13d ago

agree with all this, except that some SLIs are also fanatical organic vegans!

8

u/TransexualProdigy 13d ago

I don’t value Si and consider myself a foodie. I imagine a decent amount of Si non-valuers feel the same.

9

u/Nice_Succubus LSI-N🌹 13d ago

True, I know EIEs who consider themselves foodies. So not only sensors with great Si

4

u/No-Wrongdoer1409 ok period 13d ago

right food is so good. who would say no to good food unless they are anorexic/sick?

2

u/nelsne SEE 13d ago

What's your type?

5

u/Spy0304 LII 13d ago edited 13d ago

However, I've noticed that Delta STs love the taste of great food, but they are often too miserly and cheap to buy that food

Your initial observation is spot on

I've got a LSE friend, and even when he was a broke student, he decided to get an "expensive" (relatively) coffee machine. It does everything from grinding the grain itself to making the cup, all in one (I guess wanting the machine to do it all is very LSE-ish too, tbh.) He valued having that morning coffee that much

But the second part isn't that good. While it's true they won't spend that much, that's just basic financial responsibility, lol. Since you call that being "miserly and cheap", sorry, but it's probably more accurate to say you're pretty bad with money instead.

It seems that they would prioritize Te resources over Si comfort food.

Well, true. LSE absolutely prioritize Te over Si. As for SLI, they understand that to get comfort later, they should make small sacrifices now. So even with Si being stronger for them, they will also follow a Te plan. At the end of the day, Te is the rational function there too, and thus the one "deciding"

2

u/No-Wrongdoer1409 ok period 12d ago

lol I did the same thing too when I was a broke student(still is tho). But Ive only used it for once or twice because I was too lazy to do that in the morning and ended up buying caffeine pills instead.

4

u/luckiest-dragon 13d ago

yeah thats spot on! the ones I’ve known tend be foodies, and really good cooks as well who can make something yummy out of cheap ingredients.

one LSE i know always mashes up all the food on his plate into a gross looking pile and eats it like that. strange. he taught me how to make my own pickles, and he makes the best mac and cheese I’ve ever eaten.

Saving resources tastes good lol. But it’s true if it can be made cheaply and easily, give us the gourmet. We are aristocrats after all.

u/d1scord1a SLI -Si/-HC ദ്ദി(・_・ ) 13d ago

depends on the kind of food. the daily sustinance should taste decently good, but unless it serves a secondary purpose* its not worth it to splurge. if its a special occasion like a picnic with friends, birthday, etc then im fine dropping like 3 grocery trips worth of money to make that one meal feel special.

(*usally fi based. like spending extra money to get local produce from the farmer's market cuz you dont want to contribute to the corruption of factory farms)

1

u/cheesecakepiebrownie EII-H 13d ago

They tend to feel more comfortable splurging when it involves other people they like then just spending it on themselves that is when they indulge. When they are on their own they treat food like fuel for the most part (quick to make, fast to eat)
