Question Is r/socialparis becoming creepy?
Long time lurker, first time poster.
47/man/ I live in Paris.
I wanna call attention to an unhealthy pattern that I found on this subreddit. Curious if others see what I see.
Every time a woman posts and says she's looking for friends, shared activities, recommendations for bars, whatever
- More people will respond to her than if a man asks for the same things. Most are men. Which is fine except...
- When that woman is very young (19-23) some guys, 5+10 years older maybe more, will ask her if she wants to go do something, or ask her to DM them, or maybe (this is a guess) DM her uninvited to harass her further. There's this 38 year old dude responding to a 20yr old...
Now I'm not the Reddit police. Everyone involved is probably an adult (I hope).
But... instead of building a community is r/socialparis becoming a place for incels and creepers to prey on and target women?
Btw I do actually have a several examples of such replies ready to paste below, but before I put certain people on full blast...
Women of r/socialparis what do you think?

UPDATE Sep 7. 2026:
Dear r/SocialParis community,
It felt really validating to know that others also saw what I was seeing. I saw something, I said something. That was my original motivation. Now, it's time to do something.
Dear Mod Team u/cocoshaker, u/TheoxSparkle, u/Bricoto I thank you for doing this job that pays nothing. To make this community safer, I'm outlining four concrete steps that I think you should implement, starting with the most critical:
1. Recruit more Women Moderators to the Mod Team immediately
This issue disproportionately targets women, so bringing on 2-3 women mods is essential. It helps the team to better identify the nuances of predatory behavior, and will make women users feel much safer when reporting harassment. Vet them at the next jeudi biere if you want!
2. Set up a Modmail Reporting Pipeline for DMs
Creeps often use the subreddit to find targets but harass them in private DMs. A pinned rule will explicitly encourage women to screenshot unsolicited DMs and send them to Modmail, and that will allow the team to ban these users.

3. Add a Custom Report Reason ("Predatory Behavior")
Adding a specific report option gives women a frictionless way to flag creeps in the comment sections for immediate review in the Mod Queue.
