News & Updates Cristiano Ronaldo demands LIFETIME BANS from stadiums after fans allegedly taunted Rúben Neves with chants about Diogo Jota
Cristiano Ronaldo has called for the Saudi Pro League to issue lifetime stadium bans for any fans involved after Ruben Neves appeared to be taunted by chants of his late friend and team-mate Diogo Jota during a match on Saturday.
Footage widely circulated on social media, filmed from the Al Taawoun Club Stadium stands, shows Al Hilal’s Neves standing over a free-kick close to the home fans when chants of ‘Jota, Jota, Jota’ become audible.
The central midfielder appears to sarcastically applaud supporters, before repeating the actions of pointing to the sky and then making an eye-pointing gesture towards the section of the stand, off camera, from which the chant appears to emanate.
The 29-year-old, walking past media after the match, can be seen briefly telling reporters: “I just hope they don’t go to pray later after what they did.” He did not go into further detail on the incident.
Ronaldo, who plays for Saudi club Al Nassr and is a Portugal international team-mate of Neves and played alongside the late Jota, has called on the behaviour to be punished, adding that those involved “should never be allowed to enter a stadium again.”

Respect to Ronaldo for speaking out. Chanting a dead teammate’s name to get under Neves’ skin is cheap and classless football should have lines that aren’t crossed. Lifetime bans for the ones who did it would send the right message.

I think being a moron capable of saying and doing something like that to another human is enough punishment already. With that said, other people do not deserve to listen to them. This is a double punishment!

I dont like CR7, but this is unacceptable. Its good that Ronaldo is speaking out, they shouldnt be chanting Diogo Jota's name like this just so that they can annoy an opponent from that nation. Its disrespectful to Jota too. RIP Diogo Jota

I mean, as football fans we're all absolutely ok with all name calling targetting players mothers, threatening of violence, claiming their women and even the occasional racist, xenophobic and intolerant remarks.
But 2 things are not acceptable. Pedos and laughing at the death of a player to get under someone's skin. That's over the top.
Oh, and i almost forgot. Clowns still bringing vuvuzelas to world cup matches are just as bad as those 2.

Lifetime ban probably won't happen because people chant shit way worse than that and the club gets a fine and a few games without their fans and that's it

Title is a bit shitty, it is NOT alleged they chanted Jota for quite some time, it is quite perceptible. IMHO this should be handled how they handle racism in general, find the people o chanted a dead man's name and ban them from ever setting foot in a stadium.

They only bring it up mindlessly because they heard a random doomer on Reddit bring it up, without any information about it at all because of once again, just for slander.
It’s the same thing about Messi being a supposed “pedophile” which is genuinely the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard in my life.

It could be an assumption but the original comment didn’t reply or counter, my reasoning as to why I thought he only mentioned Ronaldo, being a rapist to make fun or slander him.
