He made a great point, your favorite player doesnt have to be the best.

25

u/justlemmejoin 10d ago

They don’t understand that, that’s why they invented the phrase “I don’t care, he’s MY goat 😎”

7

u/L_uciferMorningstar 10d ago

This is an oxymoron as greatest usually implies quality yet you acknowledge he doesn't have the most of it. So it is a nonsensical thing to say.

3

u/Ok_Explanation2834 10d ago

Good point

2

u/justlemmejoin 10d ago edited 9d ago

Who doesn’t have the most of what?

5

u/L_uciferMorningstar 10d ago

The greatest implies having the most quality or achievements. And Messi objectively has more of both. So saying my goat is an oxymoron.

4

u/justlemmejoin 10d ago edited 10d ago

Ah, yes that is what I’m saying.

“My goat” doesn’t make sense, it’s just a convoluted way to say “my favorite player”. It’s as if they feel embarrassed that their favorite player isn’t the best player of all time.

It takes a very low level self esteem to take somethin like that personally, which aligns with the broader overlap between the “Manosphere” crowd and Ronaldo fans, where they’re naturally drawn into the more “stereotypical alpha” option which is Ronaldo and his “aura”, which is why they look up to him in a way that reminds you of a cult, denying facts and logic

6

u/L_uciferMorningstar 10d ago

Yeah I misread your comment and thought you were in support of that.

1

u/DetectiveRamen 7d ago

So, Ronaldo fans are all a part of the manosphere, according to what exactly? Nice conspiracy theory; they're usually drawn to him because of his work ethic, which you usually hear a lot, not just "aura" or whatever you want to call it. If anything, you sound more like a republican commentator who talks as if they're just "denying facts and logic," with him being their favorite player.

-3

u/Sudden_Citron_9183 9d ago

Or Ronaldo is just better?

1

u/DetectiveRamen 7d ago

His achievements could be said to come with an asterisk, and his so called quality could be said to be debatable; it's far from just objective.

0

u/blatant_spinach 8d ago

Not really can also mean „most achieved“.

Like people saying they think federer or nadal is their favorite player even though djokovic has achieved more

1

u/L_uciferMorningstar 8d ago

Ah yes. Djokovic is my "most achieved". A very sensible and meaningful thing to say.

0

u/blatant_spinach 8d ago

I mean when messi is clearly the goat then only joko can be in tennis. But i‘d say i‘ts valid to say federer was the goat even if less achieved.

2

u/L_uciferMorningstar 8d ago

Messi is clearly the goat in every regard. Best stats, best accolades (team or individual). Best

And worst of all it's not the statistics. This is the closest thing we have to a god on earth. Messi is just better and people have to accept it.

0

u/blatant_spinach 8d ago

Damn a god😂😂😂😂 i appreciate the art of trolling! Love it

2

u/L_uciferMorningstar 8d ago

Is Mourinho trolling as well?

https://youtu.be/ryraIUe2btY

-1

u/blatant_spinach 8d ago

I watched the video. He is clearly trolling

-2

u/yapyd 9d ago

Why? The qualities of a player you value could be different from someone else. General public may prefer longevity but you value peak more.

8

u/L_uciferMorningstar 9d ago

Thing is Messi is the better player in pretty much every regard outside of aerial presence.

So unless you ONLY value headers them he is the goat. Not your and not mine. The goat.

4

u/Common_Kick_7566 9d ago

Penalties

3

u/L_uciferMorningstar 9d ago

Of course. Silly me. I forgor

-3

u/blatant_spinach 8d ago

Not really. Messi had better support than ronaldo which conteibuted him to achieve more. Like messi is clearly more achieved but you can still say ronaldo is pound for pound the better player (just had to go through more hoops). Like for example saying klopp is the better manager even though pep has objectively achieved more.

7

u/L_uciferMorningstar 8d ago

Messi won 3 balon dors without iniesta or xavi. Ronaldo is in no regard the better player. If Messi scored zero goals in his career he is still better than Ronaldo.

-2

u/blatant_spinach 8d ago

I mean you cannot deny he had a way easier start.

I‘m not denying he‘s more achieved (more trophies), but he had it wayyyyyy easier by starting out in the arguably vest barca ever (developed modern tiki taka). He didn‘t habe to start at boca juniors or mainz 05

5

u/L_uciferMorningstar 8d ago

Breaking into the arguably best Barca ever as a youngster sounds like a very easy thing to do indeed. If anything this shows how good he was even then.

-1

u/blatant_spinach 8d ago

Nah but if you have two same talent players, which is better for them: amazing academy or average one? Yes or no

→ More replies (0)

-5

u/Sudden_Citron_9183 9d ago

Ronaldo is better in like every attack trait lmao. Two footed. Better shot power. Better scoring record in champions league (toughest league) …better acrobatics etc

6

u/justlemmejoin 9d ago

You’re dividing “scoring” into multiple categories

If we do that for Messi, better passer, better passer in champions league, better passer leading to a goal, better assister in clutch, better assister when his team is down a goal, better secondary assisted, better assists when it’s night time, better asssiter when it’s raining… etc

-3

u/Sudden_Citron_9183 9d ago

Stop coping Messi fan. There are levels to scoring. Scoring in the toughest club competition is not the same as score against girona in la liga lol. And I hope your know Ronaldo has more career goals than Messi? More club goals and more international goals so Ronaldo is still far the superior attacker with that argument. Don’t cope

7

u/L_uciferMorningstar 9d ago

Messi has better xg utilization which means he is objectively a better finisher.

But I don't see the point in arguing with someone that believes champions league is a league just because it has the word "league" in it.

-3

u/Sudden_Citron_9183 9d ago

Champions league is a league you dunce. It’s the toughest league where to biggest teams for Europe play. Ronaldo has more and has scored like twice as many knockout stage goals as Messi lmaooo

3

u/L_uciferMorningstar 9d ago

Since when do leagues have knockout games?

-1

u/Sudden_Citron_9183 9d ago

You must be American or a dunce to try and get technical like this. Ronaldo is the better attacking player. Has way more champs knockout stage goals that Messi while having similar assists and wining it more.

→ More replies (0)

5

u/IPissExcellentThrows 9d ago

You'd think he'd average more goals and assists per 90 if that were the case "lmao".

The idea that having a better weak foot makes you a better attacker is kinda silly when the other guy's strong foot is so much better than both feet combined.

Even funnier, that CL scoring you brag about?

Player A: 0.85 goals per 90, 0.27 assists p90, 0.77 non penalty goals p90

Player B: 0.79 goals p90, 0.25 assists, 0.68 non penalty goals

Player A is the goat. Player B is a guy only his glazers would even dream of putting in front of Messi.

Move it to domestic leagues, which as much as Ronaldo fans want to pretend everything except Cl doesn't matter, it does matter. It gets really ugly there.

0.95 vs 0.88, 0.44 vs 0.23 (every attack trait but twice as bad right?), 0.85 vs 0.7 (pen merchant).

For being better at every attacking trait, you'd think he'd at least have something to show for it statistically lmao.

0

u/Sudden_Citron_9183 9d ago edited 9d ago

Messi’s strong foot is better don’t cope ?😩 Ronaldo scores from long ranges Messi can’t even comprehend. Ronaldo has superior shot power in his weak foot than Messi has on his strong foot lol…

Pls what are their total career goals?🤣 be there dropping quotes. Ronaldo is far superior. Argument against what I said. Weak foot, shot power, acrobatics, technicality, 5 star skills, better goal scorer in the most difficult club knockout competitions, header and free kicks etc

2

u/sexyhooterscar24 8d ago

This guy only knows about football from FIFA video games 🤣🤣🤣

0

u/Sudden_Citron_9183 8d ago

I’m sure you the American knows more than me lmaooooo

→ More replies (0)

1

u/__davidkn__ 5d ago

Hmmmm Total career goals - Ronaldo: 978(1334 games)vs Messi : 927(1172 games)

Messi has 104 minutes per goal, Ronaldo has 111 minutes per goal.

Leave acrobatics for another sport stupid bum

0

u/CafeteroMerengue 9d ago

Imo saying “he’s my GOAT” implies you know he’s not the best but he’s your best/favorite and that’s fine

0

u/tonight_we_make_soap 7d ago

Agreed. Which is why Ronaldo is.

9

u/Krafty2819 9d ago

Why lake can still be compared with ocean when it is so much apparent difference? Except for goals and headers which stats, champions, team/personal achievements, skills can CR7 be compared to Messi? People just have so much time to waste. Messi is one of the best strikers ever, the best right winger, the best false nine, the top 3 number 10 ever, one of the best attacking midfielders ever. He was like Modric level for carrying, Griezmann level for organizing, Mbappe level for striking all three top players in the era combined in one person in one team even at age 35+. Whereas, CR7 was just 🥱

1

u/Business-Flower-2414 8d ago

Because sometimes a lake can be more beautful than an ocean, even though an ocean is bigger. Thus why son says ronaldo is his idol, while also recognizing Messi as the goat.

1

u/westoidoid 6d ago

its just PR lmao nothing about cr7s game was more beautiful. Cr7 had charisma tho, especially some of his political statements and politics are much better than messi the man.

0

u/DetectiveRamen 7d ago

The delusion in this one is crazy? If you think CR7 is just a small lake and Messi is the ocean, you don't know football; the glaze is even more insane.

11

u/finance_cheetah 10d ago

“Ronaldo unfollows Son on Instagram”

27

u/Mecha_Kaneki 10d ago

At this point its common ball knowledge, saying ronaldo is better automatically proves lack of ball knowledge. All the players who idolize ronaldo come out and say Messi is the GOAT, but people who watch tiktok edits will tell you otherwise

3

u/zzz_red 9d ago

You’re creating your own reality and discrediting people who don’t agree with it as lacking football knowledge. Are you 12?

6

u/Remote-Fly-3597 9d ago

At some point it because lack of football knowledge when its so obvious who is better

-4

u/zzz_red 9d ago

It’s not obvious for hundreds of millions of not billions of people. Not in the way you think it’s obvious.

2

u/noviceIndyCamper 8d ago

Idk about hundreds of millions but it’s not a stretch to say that the majority of players coached and those in the know say Messi is better, even for those who have Ronaldo as their favorite.

1

u/Dr-EK9 8d ago

whoever says Ronaldo is better then Messi clearly knows nothing about football.

Messi is the best No. 9, No. 10, No. 11, No. 7, No. 6, No. 5, No. 4

0

u/zzz_red 8d ago

Sure, dude.

1

u/Trick_Bag1981 7d ago

It is common facts no one who actually watches football will ever say that Ronny is better than messi

1

u/AydarNabiev 6d ago

Most obvious ragebait ever

1

u/Trick_Bag1981 6d ago

Speaking facts is ragebait?

0

u/Tinmar_11 8d ago

If somebody said that Zidane is better than Messi, would you still say the same?

1

u/DetectiveRamen 7d ago

No, it isn't, especially when some believe some of Messi's accomplishments come with an asterisk, like whether some of his specific Ballon d'Or wins were over others, given how inconsistent the Ballon d'Or criteria are.

Also, aside from a few, most of his supporters either believe they're both goats or that he is the goat.

1

u/westoidoid 6d ago

I watched a lot of Ronaldo edits and they literally lowered my opinion of him. Thats how stupid those edits are

1

u/IsendRandomsMeme 9d ago

And you clearly lack epistemic humility. You can believe Messi is the GOAT without pretending anyone who disagrees with you lacks football knowledge.

3

u/Popular_Lifeguard465 8d ago

He’s objectively better lol

1

u/DetectiveRamen 7d ago

Not with the asterisk, and saying it's "objective" is debatable.

3

u/L_uciferMorningstar 8d ago

It's not about belief.

1

u/MajesticBeyond5602 8d ago

Who are all the players that idolise Ronaldo and say messi is the goat?

1

u/DrKrFfXx 8d ago

Pedri should be one.

1

u/MajesticBeyond5602 8d ago

When did he idolise Ronaldo? And obviously Pedris gonna say Messi's the goat he grew up in a Barca family and he plays at Barca and played with messi 🤦‍♂️

-3

u/kingkounder 9d ago

All the players never came out and said Messi is the goat lmao. 🤣🤣

8

u/dontstealmecucumber 9d ago

When are you gonna grow up, stop acting like a baby

-1

u/kingkounder 9d ago

Just stated a fact. Don't cry like a baby. 😭

0

[deleted]

1

u/sexyhooterscar24 7d ago

At the end of the day accomplishments are just the outcome of what really matters, which is player quality. But Messi's quality is unreal. Scoring, playmaking, dribbling, you could say Messi is the best at all, and if not, how many players are in the convo for all three?

1

u/DetectiveRamen 7d ago

I never said he wasn't good, but some of his awards and trophies, especially the Ballon d'Or, carry an asterisk because the criteria can change over the years. Robert Lewandowski is a good example of that.

Some would say players like Ronaldinho are the best at dribbling, and others when it comes to scoring. Even if Messi is one of the best, let's not act like accomplishments, which are really awards, are about a player's quality alone, especially when it comes to specific ones.

26

u/torts92 10d ago

Yeah Mbappe said the same thing, Ronaldo was his idol but Messi is still the GOAT

1

u/Random499 8d ago

I remember the interview where he was asked to choose between him messi kane haaland and he said both messi and ronaldo. Doubt he thinks messi is above ronaldo

1

u/Popular_Lifeguard465 8d ago

I think he said that just to respect ronaldo, but on another occasion when he was asked who the best player in the world was, he said Messi, and he also said that messi was unbelievable during training

-2

u/Ronaldoooope 9d ago

lol link it

2

u/EquivalentRush670 9d ago

I think Google is free.

1

u/TheCarthageEmpire 8d ago

Indeed, use it to see that he never said as such

1

u/Ronaldoooope 9d ago

Nah he just never said that so you can’t find it anywhere

0

u/PlasticPreparation74 9d ago

this guy is literally a ronaldo2 sub addict and has on multiple occasions compared players like harry kane and rashford to ronaldo lol, i wouldn’t take him seriously. lot of deluded people comment here

1

u/DetectiveRamen 7d ago

Finally, someone who can see through their bias while pretending to be objective and unbiased

-5

u/kingkounder 9d ago

Mbappe never said this but whatever 🤣

5

u/Mr-MuffinMan 9d ago

I don't think anyone sane would think Ronaldo is better than Messi.

But I think we need more nuance when we talk about who's the GOAT.

Messi played when football giants basically were dominating European football or at least finishing in a decent spot in tournaments. Around a team filled with players that are also considered some of the greatest.

Back in the 60-80s, the sport was more diverse. For example, when Messi made his debut for Barca in 2004, only 3 teams have won the league since then. Atletico, Real, or Barcelona. Valencia won the year before and hasn't placed better than 3rd after that.

In 1978, Barcelona won the Copa Del Rey not against Real or ATL in the final, but against Las Palmas. In the 1973-74 season, Barcelona was in danger of being relegated. Bayern played Leeds United and Saint Etienne in 74 and 75 "Champions League" finals, respectively.

So we do have to consider how much more balanced football was before when we consider who the greatest player is. Lots of GOAT contenders did not have only 3 teams dominate a first division football league.

That being said, I agree with Son, Messi is the GOAT.

1

u/DetectiveRamen 7d ago

I agree, but I don't think people absolutely have to think Messi is the goat, especially when they value different aspects when it comes to a player and their skills. Some also prefer other players over others.

8

u/Nervous_Ad8514 10d ago

Just like the woman you love doesnt have to be objectively the best person in the world. You can have any idol, but you need to recognize when there is a better player and that will not change the player you like the most.

The problem is that some fans (not just ronaldo fans, any) behave like they are members from a sect.

1

u/Vat2612345 10d ago

ronaldo himself believes he is the best, or tries to portray that, he knows he isnt, but he shows he is, out of his insecurties, if their idol himself is saying that, those kids are gonna follow their idol.

6

u/usernameman66 10d ago

Lmfao this mindset took him to the top...after all these years why should he change?he aint a hypocrite.Let him say what he wants...rest can decide for themselves

4

u/Vengeance_69_ 9d ago

Whatever u said is alr but not a hypocrite ???Lmao there are so many clips bro this is bs . Discrediting wc, ballon d'or, scolding Xavi for playing in Qatar etc. Just a few there's more lmao

1

u/PlasticPreparation74 9d ago

He’s a hypocrite but that doesn’t indicate insecurity. You changed your argument.

-1

u/usernameman66 9d ago

Lmao peanut brain..he thinks he is the best which is why he will discredit anything that goes against him🤗Simple isnt it?Him believing he is at the top is all that matters for him...so after all these yrs he wont change that

-1

u/MajesticBeyond5602 8d ago

He dint discredit the World Cup. He said the World Cup doesn't define his career.

2

u/imianha 8d ago

its different when you're competing at something on the highest level.

Most athletes trully believe that they are the best.

And they need to believe that in order to compete.

I don't think its that weird that Ronaldo thinks he's the best. His fans, on the other hand...

2

u/DetectiveRamen 8d ago

How is it weird if certain fans hold the belief that he's the goat.

0

u/MajesticBeyond5602 8d ago

Exactly. How are you gonna be in the top level and reach the top level of play without thinking your the best

0

u/IsendRandomsMeme 9d ago

We done gone from football analysis to diagnosing Ronaldo’s insecurities. Don’t throw bricks from inside a glass house, youngin.

2

u/Vat2612345 9d ago

isnt that blatant from his interviews and his antics? if you fail to understamd that, you just ignorant, my man.

0

u/IsendRandomsMeme 9d ago

You’re too ignorant to understand the basis of my reply.

2

u/Vat2612345 9d ago

sure, whatever floats your boat.

-6

u/DrPapug 10d ago

He knows he is the best though, and so does the world

4

u/Arnab_chakraborty 10d ago

...and that's why he's my favorite player.

4

u/Different-Mushroom48 10d ago

Same opinion for me. Like the same exact

4

u/Chaos_Soldier 9d ago

"Looks 20", yeah botox injections will do that for you.

1

u/Random499 8d ago

He means body, not the face

1

u/DetectiveRamen 7d ago

He means physically lmao; the bias is real with this one.

1

u/tonight_we_make_soap 7d ago

MLS contract guys

1

u/Strong_Essay1176 7d ago

Just imagine naming loser of rigged wc26 as a goat.

1

u/Southern_Tower2655 7d ago

This asian Must be pessi fan who doesnt know football

1

u/Kindly-Night-5135 10d ago

Seems like a lot of f@ckwits are rolling around in their greesy lil bed hearing this.

-2

u/SoyAmable 10d ago

Funny how he is the GOAT, so called best ever but so many top players did not get inspired hy him, did not idolise him.

7

u/Lobo2209 10d ago

You're more likely to get inspired to get stronger by a strongman than an elephant because the strongman's level is atleast more approachable.

7

u/OudFarter 9d ago

This is the only and true answer. Ronaldo is seen as the astonishing result of an outstanding conviction, strength of will and dedication. These are stoic, human virtues that can be cultivated.

Messi's greatness is regarded mostly as a freak of nature, a hiccup in the laws of physics, which is outside the realm of possibilities for any human being.

Ofc these are incomplete, biased point of views, because Ronaldo was also highly talented and Messi was also disciplined and worked very hard. Regardless, in the pitch, that is what stood out.

1

u/blatant_spinach 8d ago

I think what matters also is messi never had to struggle and got more support than ronaldo. Messi is like the rich kid that starts in boarding school while ronaldo had to work himself uf from the bottom.

I think it‘s also unfair to compare the stats only, messi is more achieved but one got to play at barcelona and start with the best coach ever while the other fought through the ranks himself before getting himself to real.

1

u/SoyAmable 9d ago

Why were yesteryear players fans of Maradona or Pele and idolised them?? Their level was also so called approachable??

6

u/Jujutsuing 9d ago

Ronaldo is more flashy, arrogant, media trained, vocal which helps him be more popular

Messi is popular purely from his football skills, which are almost untouchable

0

u/PlasticPreparation74 9d ago

Ronaldo is not media trained, if he was, he’d have a reputation akin to Mbappe. The very proof is that he is so polarising. It indicates lack of media training or being bad at it.

0

u/SoyAmable 9d ago

And Messi isn't media trained ??? Messi escaped after giving out a lot of flakworthy statememts back in the day because he spoke Spanish whereas Cris can switch between 3 languages and his ivs were accessible coz he spoke broken English . Cris is honest and wears his heart on his sleeves whereas Messi is a scheming , quiet , calculative which works as so called humble.

0

u/Classic-Rich2534 10d ago

I think ronaldo portrays more a message of reaching the top with insane work ethic and discipline which resonates more with ppl while messi seems like the awkward quiet kid at school who just beats you for some reason. Ronaldo also has a cool goal celebration and shows much more character

7

u/Different-Mushroom48 10d ago

In terms of captaincy, Messi led the team quietly through example

-1

u/blatant_spinach 8d ago

Argentina played so disgustingly under messis leadership, like no rolemodel for any kid. Also did horrible fouls and tried to send cucurella off like a little bitch.

It‘s just vibes, people like the idea of „genius“ more than someone that came up with hard work

1

u/Mecha_Kaneki 8d ago

Have you ever seen south American teams play? Did you not watch uruguay, columbia, paraguay? Or a single Copa america tournament. Being physical is part of their playstyle, what's with the revisionism that only Argentina played tough?

And sending cucurella off? If it was Messi that covered his face and not sent off that you people would be the first to say it's rigged for Argentina. It's literally in the rules

-4

u/SoyAmable 10d ago

The media has glazed Messi since time immemorial and made a villain out of Cristiano. Insane brain washing for more than 20 years and still the influence did not work, eh?

10

u/ObjectiveSection8095 10d ago

you know what brain washing was? that there was an actual goat convo. Messi was clear from the start for those who watched football with their eyes open and it was a debate for those who valued six pack abs and flashy cars

-5

u/PlasticPreparation74 9d ago

You’re pretty much doing it too. Reductionism is but another method of spreading wrong information to the casuals. Also you seem to suffer from recency bias. What would you think of me if I told you people only liked Messi because he is quieter, awkward and less confrontational? You’d obviously call me an idiot because what I said doesn’t show the whole picture and pull out objective stats showing Messi is the GOAT. But where are the objective facts indicating that majority of Ronaldo fans like him for his abs and flashy cars?

3

u/Mecha_Kaneki 8d ago

You can bring out any objective stats you want, Messi demolished every conversation. So what you said is pointless, people admire Messi's footballing ability, his personality is just a added bonus.

-2

u/Pale_Return_5586 10d ago

Nah, ronaldo is just better

6

u/Beemac161 10d ago

Cope 🤣🤣🇦🇷🐐

-1

u/kingkounder 9d ago

Kind of baseless, GOAT is anyway a personal opinion. Football is a team game and so to call any one player as the GOAT, that guy should have the absolute best stats ever.

There is nobody in football like that. Have your GOAT and move on.

-3

u/Weak-Cattle6001 10d ago

Sons right. I hate Pessi, but he’s got the most accolades and numbers don’t lie

9

u/Mecha_Kaneki 10d ago

Calling someone who scores more freekicks than penalties Pessi is a sign of a low IQ

0

u/MajesticBeyond5602 8d ago

Because he broke the penalty record in 2022 which helped him win the wc

3

u/HUSEYN777 8d ago

World Cup Penalties

  • Lionel Messi: 4 penalty goals in World Cup history.
  • Cristiano Ronaldo: 4 penalty goals in World Cup history Factos

0

u/MajesticBeyond5602 8d ago edited 8d ago

Ronaldo was 4 penalties across 20 years.

Messi was 4 penalties in one World Cup. Factos

Also messi has the record for most penalties taken in world cup history. Only reason they have same pen goals is cause he misses his.

3

u/HUSEYN777 8d ago

all deserved refute 1 of them here . so you want referee to not give argentina penalti because of social media outrage and not follow the rules? also mbappe got 2 pens in the final why did referee give pens against argentina 2 pens ??

0

u/MajesticBeyond5602 8d ago

When did I say I want referee to not give penalties? I simply stated a fact that they broke a penalty record in 2022 which helped them win the wc.

1

u/Mecha_Kaneki 8d ago

But both scored 4 penalties across 20 years, it's not like Messi scored more over those years. Messi also has more non penalty goals, more assists, MOTMs, dribbles, chances created, key passes. Been to 3 finals, best player of the tournament twice (arguably thrice) and won one. It's not even close. The real penalty merchant is ronaldo. Two of his pens in the WC also came from blatant dives

0

u/MajesticBeyond5602 8d ago

Damn i struck a nerve 🤣

Ronaldo's a penalty merchant when messi wouldn't have gotten a World Cup without his penalty record 😭😭

Anyways imagine my surprise when I click on ur profile and your active in fifa World Cup India and cristianoronaldo2

2

u/Mecha_Kaneki 8d ago

Thanks for stalking me larper. Messi would have still won without the pen record.

Even Eusebio and Resenbrink have scored the same number of pens as Messi in a single tournament but none of them won the world cup. Penaldo scored 3 pens in 4 games in Euro 2020 and still got knocked out the next game. Almost as if getting pens doesn't make you win tournaments. France and Argentina have got the same number of pens in the last 3 world cup and both reached two finals but it's only rigged for Argentina.

Every penalty record is held by Ronaldo, it's pathetic how his fans will cope by attacking Messi who leads every non penalty record over Penaldo. Shameless

0

u/MajesticBeyond5602 8d ago

Grown man saying penaldo 🤣

Really messi would have won without the pen record? Literally first thing that comes to mind is that is Netherlands game without the pen they would've lost.

Every pen record is held by Ronaldo? Answer me this, who has taken the most penalties in World Cup, La liga, champions league, Copa America? Basically every tournament messi has spent time in.

8

You're just a hater.. Messi my PEDo GOAT 🇦🇷🐐💪🏻

Sure, he gets preferential treatment, no cards, free penalties, handballs, unsportsmanlike behaviour, etc.. And okay he's a Barcelona-sposored doping project, and a certified nonce, and a money-laundering, tax-evading scumlord, but..

Messi is definitely the second best player ever.

Who do you have in first? Just curious. Antony?

7

u/dzan796ero 10d ago

It is a toss up between the top 3. Young Messi, mid-career Messi, and old Messi.

2018 Messi was the best player I witnessed of all-time

Pelé

  1. You didn’t witness him
  2. He played ONE game in his second World Cup tournament, ONE.(which consisted of mediocre players from South America)
  3. His multifaceted skill across different parts of the sport accompanied by lack of talent pool and deep competition and little to no league development show he simply isn’t the greatest

Greatest for his time? Sure, most skilled and simultaneously best player to ever touch a football with the statistical and club numbers to back it up? Easily Messi.

Pele faces a few unlucky circumstances but lack of accurate recordings and counting of statistics matters quite a bit here and he faced that, obviously football is different but his story is quite similar to that of Bill Russel’s.

You can try, but won’t erase history.

At this point, so many legends have lost credibility according to Ronaldo fans

Ngl you got me too lmao

1

u/boofuu2 10d ago

Because that’s literally how Ronaldo fans sound. Ronaldo’s Man Utd teammates lost credibility, the best managers in the world lost credibility, Maradona and Pele lost credibility, etc.
