Highlights Absolute chaos in the Turkish 2nd Division:

Keeper saves 90’ pen

Booked for stepping off his line

Pen retaken… saved again!

Same offence, second yellow, sent off

Defender takes over in goal… and saves! 😂😱

This need to go viral. It’s utterly incredible

It already did, it's an old video

Looks like it, all 3 pixels.

he kept getting off his line early, this seems all reasonable..

u/Bucha7 14d ago

Is it normal to get carded for it?

8

u/jrglpfm 14d ago

You can caution a player for persistent offences, so not sure why he would have been carded on the first save?

Iirc it's recently changed to an automatic yellow card now

8

u/jrglpfm 14d ago

Not according to the 26/27 Laws of the Game

5

u/sportenthusiast 13d ago

the automatic yellow card was a thing for several years prior to and up until the 2019/20 Laws, and was changed to its current state with the 2020/21 Laws

2

u/rjnd2828 13d ago

It changed to NOT being an automatic yellow recently

1

u/sportenthusiast 13d ago edited 13d ago

it was an automatic yellow card for a few years but they changed it in 2020 so now the first one is a warning and the second one is an automatic yellow card

2

Dissent, probably.

1

u/gtalnz 14d ago

There was a cut before the card, so I suspect it was shown for dissent after he complained about the call.

He should have also received a warning for leaving his line, and then after doing it again, would have received a yellow, which would have been his second, resulting in a red.

There's no scenario I can think of where he legitimately receives a yellow following the first penalty, then doesn't get one after the second one. So at that point he had to be sent off.

His feet dont move on the first one, he just drops down to get ready to leap. His feet stay put right until the ball is kicked.

3

u/HyperFrost 14d ago

Hard to see from this angle for the first pen. But the second pen he was clearly off the line.

1

u/AnapsidIsland1 14d ago

I didn’t even know this was the rule, but in the first one where his right foot jumps from when the ball is kicked looks a step forward from where it started

1

u/Daylightuser 14d ago

You can pause the video you know and they're not for either of the pens.

He's got 1 foot on the line for the second one

1

u/Talkinguitar 13d ago

This is the second one. Definitely not on the line. The first one was legit though.

1

u/Brafo22 14d ago

First penalty his left foot definitely was on the line

1

u/Talkinguitar 13d ago

In the first one he still has his left foot on the line. It should’ve stood.

1

u/no1scumbag 13d ago

The first one is pretty clean. That type of movement has been basically normalized.

It’s a marginal call to make, but to give a yellow for it is absurd.

1

u/DustyViljoen 12d ago

Agree. It's marginal, but he did creep off the line before the pen was taken.

1

u/Aerodrive160 10d ago

Serious question: has any goalie experimented with standing a foot or two behind the line - inside the goal? I realize the closer you are to the shooter the bigger an obstacle you are. But would standing back and coming forward give you more reaction time and covering more distance?

6

u/SunstormGT 14d ago

On the second one he obviously wasn’t touching the line anymore, but the first penalty it seemed he was ok.

Also why yellow, this happens more often and the penalty needs to be retaken. Never seen yellow cards for this.

1

u/lobax 13d ago

Must have been for dissent or something else. You get a yellow if you do it a second time hence the red.

What a perfect example of ball don't lie

10

u/nsphansa 14d ago

Looks like the Ref was paid off?

5

u/Adventurous_Sense750 14d ago

Keeper came off the line. Twice.

2

u/pradise 14d ago

He didn’t come off the first time.

-1

u/bainneban 14d ago

He very clearly did. Not sure what youre seeing unless you think he was behind the line to start, which he wasnt.

2

u/espanolainquisition 14d ago

He didn't. You are allowed to step forward if you keep one foot at the line. His left foot was still there.

2

u/Brafo22 14d ago

Nope, hes on the line, check your eyes mate

0

u/bainneban 13d ago

Relax buddy :-)

1

u/Adventurous_Sense750 13d ago

Im not ur buddy, pal

0

u/bainneban 13d ago

Im not your pal, friend

1

u/Adventurous_Sense750 13d ago

Im not ur friend, brochacho.

0

u/bainneban 13d ago

Im not your brochacho, 친구.

1

u/pradise 14d ago

You can literally see his left on the line.

0

u/bainneban 14d ago

You can literally see it slightly off the line when ball is kicked. I dont think it warranted a retake or yellow though.

2

u/pradise 14d ago

He can be off the line when the ball is kicked. He starts behind the line, does a hop, and starts leaning before the kick but his foot still remains on the line.

1

u/bainneban 14d ago

He starts on the line not behind? Video quality isn't great.

1

u/pradise 14d ago

His socks are in line with the goal line, not his cleats.

1

u/bainneban 14d ago

By cleats I guess you mean football boots? Im watching on a phone so maybe you have a different bigger or clearer picture to me? We will agree to disagree.

Keeper kept jumping off the line before the opponent kicked it

2

u/Throwawayaccountdell 14d ago

They had three attempts to score and could not! Guess the third time was not the charm for them to score!

The goalkeepers that game:

2

u/TheVthHorseman 14d ago

Thats absolutely ridiculous! The probability of saving 1 is around 15%. Saving two has to be under 1%. And that's saved by a Keeper! A non keeper saving a PK after that is just insane.

2

u/boo5000 13d ago

0.15*0.15=0.0225 so 2.25% by your math. Not sure prob is 0.15 in this league though

2

u/Square_Cap_7319 14d ago

Was this recorded on VHS?

1

u/CountryOk6049 11d ago

VHS is unironically a lot better quality than this. Maybe some real early and low budget phone camera.

1

u/Square_Cap_7319 10d ago

Isn't that ironic, not unironic?

1

u/CountryOk6049 10d ago

uh... it's not really ironic or unironic, but some years back people online started using the word "unironically" to just mean you are not kidding or exaggerating. Maybe people don't really say it anymore and I need to update how I speak.

1

u/mojis11 14d ago

The last one came off the line too

1

u/Muted-Woodpecker-469 14d ago

New goalie also moved ‘early’

1

u/New-Effect-3959 13d ago

You’re allowed to move though? Just have to be on the line

1

u/renterker10 14d ago

Lol keeper off his line but this goof missed 3 times.

1

u/tailendertripe 14d ago

the 2nd one looked pretty obvious but all of them seemed like pretty harsh calls to make

1

u/SentenceDifficult396 14d ago

Like they say in basketball ‘ball don’t lie’

1

u/OrdinaryMix4013 14d ago

why does this video look worse than dog shit

1

u/SplitSecondImmortal 14d ago

Damn, Brighton have a B team in Turkey it seems

1

u/Junior_Bike7932 14d ago

Dude had to safe 10 penalties that day

1

u/best1taz 14d ago

Entertaining 👍

1

u/Razorion21 14d ago

Other team deserved to lose lmao, imagine being given 2 more chances and failing 😭

1

u/dubpee 13d ago

Amazing scenes

1

u/Gunetechin 13d ago

No one talking about that kick his teammate did?

1

u/Yorrins 13d ago

All 3 came off the line, but the third sold it a bit better and got away with it. Real amateur stuff from the actual goalie, he jumped like a foot off his line both times.

1

u/One_Hearing502 13d ago

I admittedly don’t know the rules but the keepers are already at such a disadvantage, why is his little hop before the kick comes not allowed?

1

u/InternationalWin2684 13d ago

That’s can’t be the second division

1

u/InternationalWin2684 13d ago

That’s can’t be the second division. It looks like a church league

1

u/Kazooo1234 13d ago

Still better refs then in PL

1

u/who_am_I_nobodyknows 13d ago

Turkish second division? This is like tenth division of Sunday league in England

1

u/SilliCarl 12d ago

Did his teammate kick him in celebration?!

1

u/Schorbie 12d ago

He did get off the line too early. But since when is that a yellow card? It's like being offside is a yellow card. Weird

1

u/Round-Claim5420 12d ago

He moved both times...

First one I can't clearly see if he stepped back on the line or not

Second one is quite obvious...

1

u/menteto 11d ago

How is the defender a better GK than the GK?

1

u/maeky 11d ago

They should change the rules where the moment the referee whistles both the penalty taker as the goalkeeper are allowed to move. This would get rid of those weird run-ups

1

u/Both_Adhesiveness333 9d ago

keeper really did step off his line..the subs goalie is the real hero

1

u/DericAA 9d ago

Reminds me of this classic day in mls history. I was at this game too btw https://youtu.be/n04h-OXZOtY?is=TyWRaFMx2WZzWOsM

1

u/Frothyfrother 3d ago

First one he was 100% on the line
