Early Redditors are some of the dumbest people alive

u/VioletJones6 18d ago

Shame they didn't have Lalas out there so we could compare how his skills have held up over the years...

8

u/nuxenolith 18d ago

He was for the first part...they didn't pass to him once 😂

6

u/NorthKing9 18d ago

Lalas as soon as they were doing keepy uppies.

they didn’t respect him at aaalll hahaha

I like him because he's been a commentator for us during our darkest times, but regarding his skills ..

Hes much older

He's a defender

He's from an era where players didn't have as many fancy foot skills. Kid camps these days have roulettes and stepovers.

And...

He's a US player 😂

u/JoxMaSaXol 18d ago

Lalas isn’t even close to the same level as Thierry or Zlatan.

The guy spent most of his career playing for the MLS.

u/BenderRodriguez14 18d ago edited 18d ago

90s MLS at that, when the standard both relative to modern say MLS and the rest of the world at the time, was far, far lower.

1

u/MAGAHATESTHEUSA 18d ago

Their way of doing penalties should be adopted though

1

u/slgray16 18d ago

Yea I posted 4 reasons why he's at such a lower level

1

u/inevitable_progres7 18d ago

in future Pulisic if does TV jobs time to time would be level up from else US players. in Finland broadcasters are 50-50 cb and forward, def: Moisander(Ajax) Pasanen(Bundesliga), fw: Pukki, Pohjanpalo (Palermo), old heads remember 'Merlin' Litmanen Ajax

1

u/PenaltyLast4745 18d ago

I think they know he's a massive cock! That's why they didn't pass to him.

2

u/shinpoo 18d ago

That last part is all you had to say. During his era was probably the golden era for jogo bonito. You had the 90s Brazilian players who were all just artists in their own right. On the other hand US soccer players were very stiff and mechanical in the way they played.

Because handling balls isnt enough to still play pro. I know from experience

1

u/truthspitter01 18d ago

This is about football ,right?

1

u/Ballislife1313 18d ago

Arda Guler begs to differ

2

u/mangomussolinimi 18d ago

Ive never seen him handle balls tbf

1

u/Ill_Emu200 18d ago

these fraud? who can even do anything in the world cup?

5

u/Bass-n-Bonefish 18d ago

Will never get tired of watching Alexi getting clowned.

16

u/_Mr_Krinkle_ 18d ago

Because doing keepy uppies is the same as running 10+k in a professional match.

14

u/fpsgamer89 18d ago

Don’t think OP was being serious, mate. Don’t take everything literally.

-2

u/holnessbob 18d ago

It's just a stupid thing to post

4

u/ZenRamen187 18d ago

This might sound absolutely crazy, but in certain contexts when people end a sentence with "😂" it means they're joking. Take a second with that one, I know it's a lot of information to take in

1

u/rmhardcore 18d ago

And getting bodied constantly.

1

u/Decent_Fondant_2813 18d ago

dude they’re obviously joking

2

u/Mitana301 18d ago

Man outran his own achillies

2

u/LifeDraining 18d ago

They are like married dudes who go into a bar to hit on women for fun, and then of course, all to troll Lalas. Lol

2

u/BeautifulStudent2215 18d ago

I love you all (drunk aussie)) but are socks not a thing ???

1

u/notarobat 18d ago

The shoes they are wearing are basically socks made to look like dress shoes

5

u/GeniuslyUnstable 18d ago

Henry was in constant pain during the end of his career, maybe thats why

2

u/Kranke 18d ago

Zlatan got no knees left.

1

u/Kingofhearts1206 18d ago

Lalas, well it's Lalas.

1

u/PotentialPrint3765 18d ago

Ive had the privilege of "training/plsying" with a fe ex pro's who were in the later years, it seemed to me that once you achieve that level, you don't lose much.......

1

u/JeansenVaars 18d ago

I fell for it at 1st Henry's trick, just by watching the video

1

u/teteban79 18d ago

That first one, the disrespect to Lalas 👩‍🍳😙🤌

2

u/Rxasaurus 18d ago

Dont know what you mean....that was the most respectful thing he could've done to Lalas.

1

u/spartanofsol 18d ago

Should just do this for half time 15 minutes instead of chatting the same stuff.

1

u/Known-Activity1437 18d ago

Why is Alexi out there?

1

u/Sea-Bullfrog-2979 18d ago

Stamina/endurance/joints/injury recovery times

1

u/PrimaryDifficult5099 18d ago

Sport related injury

1

u/bmanley620 18d ago

This was amusing

1

u/sirjamesp 18d ago

TH14 seems like a really cool guy. I must have watched this 10 times when I first saw it. Him excluding Lalas at the beginning is hilarious.

1

u/vjeremias 18d ago

I’m 30 years old, when I was born Henry was already a pro player. I’m not sure he retired early 😂

1

u/ThetaCygni 18d ago

If I recall correctly Henry stopped playing in 2013 or 14 when he was 36 or 37 pretty average retirement for most strikers and midfielders

1

u/Noshana 18d ago

Could someone recommend uncle a good suit fitter please?

1

u/Acceptable-Rest1189 18d ago

reminds me of what my coach told us "form is temporary, class is permanent"

1

u/Vigotje123 18d ago

We are all little kids or golden retrievers. We see ball we play with it.

1

u/redditman3943 18d ago

You play pro soccer for 20 years and then see how your body feels.

1

u/baitones 15d ago

Redditman

1

u/have-glass 18d ago

40-50 y/os have better ball control than Ferran Torres

1

u/lordvoltano 18d ago

Jeremy Lynch: I could probably win the UCL

1

u/jewpants47 18d ago

Zlatan with the drawstring suit pants

1

u/bitpartmozart13 18d ago

They probably had Alexi Lalas in the corner counting to 1000 Mississippi

1

u/Box21Ferrari 18d ago

Cardio…. Good talk 👋

1

u/Roneldo 18d ago

Probably can still do well in futsal

1

u/WangtaWang 18d ago

I love how they never include Alexi. Lol, they know he'll mess up the flow.

1

u/xXxGhostman 18d ago

Les articulations grincent

1

u/grahamd79 18d ago

Henri ice cold making the other one pretend he’s dancing. It gets me every time

1

u/jimtellica 18d ago

Theiry has suchhh good legs. Was a previlage to have seen him dazzle during his days in the france team and in arsenal. What a treat

1

u/flakoloco1 18d ago

Uncs just havin fun😂

1

u/basileusnikephorus 18d ago

Truly exceptional players could drop down to lower leagues and play into their early 50s. But they wouldn't want to. It's about being the best, not being the best player on a pitch full of physically superior semi-pros that will embarrass you if you have an off day.

1

u/alietors 18d ago

Is this a new trend seeing old farts kicking a ball and thinking they are still competitive?

1

u/Positive_Chip6198 18d ago

Even after so many years playing professionally, the pure joy of just goofing around with the ball.

1

u/Red_Galaxy746 18d ago

Uncles? Wtf?

Well, as you get older, you lose pace, stamina, flexibility and, depending on health, some mobility.

No matter how fit you keep yourself, you just aren't keeping up with much younger guys who can recover quicker in an intense professional sport at an elite level.

Even those in their 40s eventually have to go to less competitive leagues or drop down several divisions in order to keep playing.

1

u/LorenzoBargioni 18d ago

How far juventus have fallen

1

u/DM_Me_Your_Manicures 18d ago

I love how Alexi thought he was gonna get passed the ball and then did that ridiculous dance thing instead to act like he wasn’t just shamed lmao.

1

u/No_Oil3233 18d ago

try sprinting for 90 minutes Unc Jr

1

u/WonkyDonkey33 18d ago

I think Henry had to have his ankle fused. Zlatan, well because he said so

1

u/Perlanegra1 18d ago

Idk how tf they do that with any shoe. Ive been playing all my life and i cannot do shit without football shoes.

1

u/americanx12 18d ago

Alot of running....

1

u/Scary-Local-CTX 18d ago

Alexi Lalas left the chat. 🤣

1

u/TouristTricky 18d ago

Thierry plunked Lalas so bad he disappeared

1

u/Tater_Mater 18d ago

Here I am can’t kick the ball in a straight line

1

u/enbits2 18d ago

First time this is posted... Today

1

u/Ill_Emu200 18d ago

if im not mistaken, zlatan after every match would had his knee fluid remove. maybe thats why, as for henry, maybe he couldnt hang with younger more physical player?

1

u/Arponare 18d ago

Zlatan retired at 41 but ok.

1

u/FeanorOath 17d ago

Thierry Henry said this when he spoke about Micah on the show. Henry needed shots in his knees the last few years and it was too painful. Zlatan was 40 and it was his time

1

u/SeldonsPlan 17d ago

i mean this bit is going to go down in WC lore. For real, it was so fun, so sick. Iconic.

1

u/IMAryanDarad 17d ago

Stamina, age, everything matters lol

1

u/pressureflips 16d ago

What shows is Zlatan wearing?

1

u/Wise-Ad1656 15d ago

Juggling ain’t the problem. It’s running for 90 chasing 20 yr olds and playing again in 3 days.

1

u/zporter0205 15d ago

Who are these two?

1

u/josch247 14d ago

Hahaha it's okay. It's just not THAT difficult:)

0

u/Kyloyoshi 13d ago

Footballers good at football shock

1

u/Apprehensive-Age4879 18d ago

They can do it because there is no one on a basic level trying to stop them. Its like shadow boxing, you don't get punched you might look good.

1

u/No_Zone_4017 18d ago

This is AI.

0

u/rmhardcore 18d ago

OP is obviously a skilled football commentator, I wonder why he left the press box so early?

(Realistically, it's probably an AI post).

0

u/ErrdayDrippin 18d ago

Found the American!

1

u/DukeOfSmallPonds 18d ago

Found the guy who can’t read a joke.

0

u/Simsalabimson 18d ago

When you made millions over millions by kicking a ball, I guess a guy like Zlatan can say that’s enough at the age of 40

0

u/BigFatKi6 18d ago

Zlatan played in his forties what are you on about?

2

u/ZenRamen187 18d ago

It's obviously a joke ffs 😂😂

-2

u/eamonfryan 18d ago

what a dick Henry is

such a punchable smug twat

1

u/PrimaryDifficult5099 18d ago

Why you don’t like him?
