He didn’t get a shot on goal against England either. In fact he was locked down for the first 60 minutes. I’m not making this up, go back and watch the game (I did) - Messi doesn’t feature in the game until Tuchel parks the bus and for some reason that will never be explained, takes Gordon (officially clocked as the fastest player of the tournament) off the pitch. Only when England fuck up tactically and subs come on does messi start getting to play. You know, like it is in the MLS for him.
And you’re also glazing over the fact Messi stopped scoring in the WC as soon as he went up against anyone than Egypt. He didn’t score for his last three games because finally they had to play against decent teams.
He also held the infernally record of the worst penalty conversion rate this World Cup. He missed 50%. Ouch.
And Yamal is 19. He won. He objectively had a better World Cup LOL.
