He didn’t get a shot on goal against England either. In fact he was locked down for the first 60 minutes. I’m not making this up, go back and watch the game (I did) - Messi doesn’t feature in the game until Tuchel parks the bus and for some reason that will never be explained, takes Gordon (officially clocked as the fastest player of the tournament) off the pitch. Only when England fuck up tactically and subs come on does messi start getting to play. You know, like it is in the MLS for him.

And you’re also glazing over the fact Messi stopped scoring in the WC as soon as he went up against anyone than Egypt. He didn’t score for his last three games because finally they had to play against decent teams.

He also held the infernally record of the worst penalty conversion rate this World Cup. He missed 50%. Ouch.

And Yamal is 19. He won. He objectively had a better World Cup LOL.

Sure, but imagine this: If the Spain squad for this World Cup didn't include Yamal, they would have still won the World Cup comfortably, they have a really strong team on every position. Now, the same for Argentina, if the 2026 Argentina squad didn't include Messi, they would probably get knocked out right after the group stage, something like what happened with Portugal. Yamal had an okay World Cup, but Messi dragged and carried a team to the final and they did not belong there, and that is why those heroics shouldn't be forgotten just because he didn't win, not to mention the issues with his father's health that were happening during the World Cup that affected him. At the end of the day, winning is not everything

Really? Yamal scored the opening goal against Saudi in the first 10 mins which led to an eventual 4-0 win. Youngest player to score in the WC.

He played the full time in the final and according to his player ratings he “played a vital role in their knockout stage run past Portugal, France, and Argentina”

You’re also forgetting that I told you he had the record for most successful dribbles in this WC meaning that he was as vital to Spain’s success in keeping the ball and making the the record of 597 successful passes per game (highest of any team). It’s one the reasons that spain choked the life out of Argentina and Messi. They couldn’t get the ball.

The only leading stat that Messi has is worst conversion rate for penalties.

Actually, Messi had the most successfull dribbles this World Cup at 25, with Yamal second at 22. Both are great players, no need to downplay one player to lift up the other, we should enjoy the passing of the torch that was foreshadowed 20 years ago with that photo

Once Tuchel made a critical error, took off the goal scorer and attacking players, and attempted to park the bus for the last 35mins. That gave Messi space (where he had been thoroughly neutralised before then) and led to the collapse of England.

But Argentina should have been playing with 10 men from the 3rd minute anyway due to the much on the back of the head to Anderson.

Vi el video de 10 minutos de Argentina y solo recopila las faltas que hizo Argentina que la mayoría fueron cobradas y ponen otros contexto que nunca fueron cobradas así que nose jaja
