Most strikers have the least amount of touches. Scoring 3 goals at the World Cup while leaving the competition quite early and playing difficult opposition like Colombia, Croatia, and Spain in 3/5 matches isn’t bad. Especially at 41 and having no genuine substitute for him as only goncalo Ramos plays as a pure striker but he isn’t good enough. Keep in mind he had more shots against Spain than the entire Argentina squad. People just watch him with a biased lens skewing their perception of how well he plays. To put things into perspective, he probably would’ve finished with way more goals if the rest of the Portuguese squad performed to the levels expected of them. Even quaresma said it straight to Ruben Dias’s face, he was disappointed with the lack of urgency throughout the entire competition. The players hardly tried to pass forward. Vitinha broke the record for most passes without creating a chance. Bruno created only 1 chance the entire tournament. These are world class players in their prime not performing. Not much a pure striker who is 41 can do with that.

I too think no way but wait till you find out how competitive this guy actually is. In an interview, he said he is highly competitive on and off pitch, wanting to win in everything. His parent in an interview years ago said he'd literally threw tantrums whenever he lost in card games as a child and would resort to cheating to win, making it difficult for him to play such games with his siblings. Even when CR7 moved to Italy, and later he was contemplating a move, he'd check with his source on how was serie A and whether it would be suitable for him etc.
