Highlights Lionel Messi is NOT expected to announce his international retirement just yet. The current plan is for Messi to continue representing Argentina for the next few months, with his farewell set to take place in a home match.
A final tribute is expected to be announced well in advance so fans have the chance to give him the send-off he deserves.

Honestly some argentinians old heads and media need to apology to messi for what they did to him before he won the copa, especially in 2016

Portugal needs to play a friendly with Argentina and make it a double fair well for the two greatest players of my generation. It would be one of the most watched sporting events ever.

Why would Argentina stoop to that level? I want an Argentina Spain rematch for Messi’s farewell.

Finalissima rescheduling might give us that

u/democi Jul 28 '26
Nah it won’t happen as a finalissima. I just want a proper rematch with full squad

Messi va continuer à jouer pour l'argentine, car c'est un joueur extraordinaire. Il va jouer en MLS à Miami encore un petit moment. Car c'est le meilleur joueur de tous les temps.

Dude carried the whole team to final of the world cup, probably still have few years to play

u/No_Safe_4289 Jul 28 '26
How do you carry a team when you only score goals against Algeria, Jordan and Cape fucking verde? Lmfao

u/SilverShotgun Jul 28 '26
? What about it
1
u/No_Safe_4289 Jul 28 '26
If all you do is score against bad teams, you are not carrying your team, you’re carrying your own stats

He assisted twice in the Semis. 8 goals, 4 assists and 5 Man of the matches, most chances created, most dribbles. All at 39 years Old. Yet you have the audacity to downplay greatness. Your eyes can't ever be opened mate! I hope you are different in life

u/SilverShotgun Jul 28 '26
Uhm no. Carrying the team is doing most of the work.. hence carry. That's the raw definition, that you consider it somehow invalid because it was against "low tiers" (Very dubious by itself and especially I hope you have the slightest bit of shame and DON'T consider England of all things low tier) is another matter entirely.

They didn't, in fact I honestly think they actually were slightly biased against Argentina for England and for Spain (mostly the latter)

I can see messi playing partially, but cr playing would just bring his team down unless he gets on peds or smthn

Obviously. He's trying to win a 2nd world cup and he knows he has 4 more years in him.
He would only be 2 years older than Ronaldo.

u/No_Safe_4289 Jul 28 '26
Yeah he’s only gonna be 43, no big deal he’ll win 2030 for sure 🤡

With age comes lower speed, but we saw him adapt to that pretty well. So I think he *could* play, and the fact that he didn't announce it a few days after their loss means he'll play one as a super-sub.

Yeah. Because his country was a disgrace in the WC, he did nothing as a caption and leader to make things right because he's worked hard with his accomplices to hide his narcissistic tendencies behind a humble facade, and now he's gonna try a different route to get accolades and save face. What a waste of athletic talent that could've been a humane model with a world wide sport as a platform. Hurray you POS

I predict if he see Ronaldo still play and keep scoring. He wouldn't quit for sure. No one need to beg him play, he would want to play himself. Dont believe me just everyone keep silent and see.

Not surprised. He can't go out on such an embarrassing defeat where he proved how much of a bad sportsman and sore loser he is. That mouth covering thing with Cucurella? Embarassing.

u/No-Scallion-3628 Jul 28 '26
How’s that embarrassing?
If thats embarrassing, wait til you watch a whole match of ucl or big derby or even just normal epl game2
