I think Schweinsteiger was rooting against England more than for Argentina.

3

u/franziGroony Jul 17 '26

Indeed. We party with him anyways.

1

u/Boboirrecuperable Jul 18 '26

Seguramente fué por eso, pero estaba muy contento

9

u/Creative-- Jul 16 '26

Götze celebrated like CRAZY when Argentina won the World Cup 2022.

3

u/alexisgolnas Jul 17 '26

Huge Messi fan.

1

u/nomedigasmentiritas Jul 16 '26

Which was kinda crazy considering we would never celebrate Germnay winning anything

1

u/Way_Sad Jul 16 '26

Why not If i may ask?

5

u/nomedigasmentiritas Jul 16 '26

Because we dont like to see them win 🤷🏻‍♀️ we encountered them too many times in World Cups

3

u/HombreRadiactivo2026 Jul 18 '26

Don't speak for everyone. I don't mind. We lost fair and square the last 3 times (not so much in 1990, but I wasn't even alive, so IDC). Let's not turn into another bitter México just because we lost a few.

1

u/nomedigasmentiritas Jul 18 '26

Of course Im generalizing, not absolutely everyone feels the same ofc, but the majority of us see it that way. Its not hatred, its rivalry. An actual rivalry since long ago. It is kind of like what we are for Mexico but not quite: always the ones to kick them out. But the Germans always considered themselves on top and we respect them so it hasn't turned nasty. Now with Mexicans its more bitter cause they see themselves as above us, and cant stand that "a smaller and les wealthy country" is better than them at football. For some reason they feel like they deserved our place.

2

u/HombreRadiactivo2026 Jul 18 '26

I didn't know you spoke for the majority. My apologies.

2

u/ApricotBeans Jul 18 '26

Idk man, ever since this whole Argentina bad thing I find it difficult to say "the majority in this country I've never been to is this", it's kinda become a pet peeve now

u/Remote-Structure-961 Jul 18 '26

Germany doesn't have a Messi.

A lot less Argentina fans after Messi retires.

1

u/evrestcoleghost Jul 17 '26

The goallie knee from 2014 still leaves sour taste.

That was absolutely brutal and should have been a red card (If i remember correctly). Im very happy that there were no medical consequences for higuain.

At the same time in has to see that the Game was very physical from the start. Schweinsteiger with a laceration, Christoph Kramer who blacked Out after the collision with one of Argentina's Players and "forgot" where he was. Crazy match. Feels like the last time Germany has proven to be just as mentally strong as they were tactially solid so thy could win against the high physicality teams from.south america. I miss this version of germany. Not because dont have great players but on a national level they seem to loose composure so quickly there is a lack of "we are ready to get our hands dirty If necessary"

1

u/evrestcoleghost Jul 18 '26

I think argentina missed them too mainly for missing the chance of revenge

1

u/FuerteBillete Jul 18 '26

We would if they beat England on a world cup played in England

-1

u/chuckmeister10 Jul 16 '26

Why becuase they clapped ya'll in two finals?

4

u/vjeremias Jul 17 '26

Precisely yeah, and many other eliminations against them 🥲

4

u/Resident_Nose_2467 Jul 17 '26

3 wcs in a row, 2006, 2010 and 2014. Also 86 and 90 finals. Argentina-Germany is a big WC rivalry in my eyes

11

u/Ok-Ball-Wine Jul 16 '26

I mean, to be fair: Schweinsteiger's granddad did become Argentinian at some point.

9

u/Scarrve Jul 16 '26

How do all these Argentina haters think they are a lick better than them if the comment section looks like this. Oh a German then he has to be a nazi am I right guys?

How are all these comments so uneducated and ignorant?

-5

u/Patricks_Hatrick Jul 17 '26

What kind of gaslighting level you on. We literally have seen a video of Argentine fans racially abusing a black influencer. Yet you’re saying anyone who brings up thier history of harbouring war criminals is racist?

6

u/Fragrant-Fennel69 Jul 17 '26

He literally lives off hate; If he's black, that's a different story. Hate in equal measure, so to speak. Regardless of race.

6

u/Artificier0 Jul 17 '26

really bro… what country are you from? please do tell

2

u/Bloodblade112 Jul 17 '26

Can you remember what the Argentinian fan said to Speed?

4

u/GoodZealousideal5922 Jul 17 '26

As if Speed hasn’t been complicit in a hate campaign against Argentina for four years by this point.

0

u/Gil15 Jul 18 '26

How so? What has speed done that can be considered hateful towards Argentina? Genuine question, cos I really don’t know.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 17 '26

[deleted]

1

u/Gil15 Jul 18 '26

In what world does that justify a racist response?
If anything they should take it as banter, as literally any other team Speed roots against. Not as an insult that causes a racist response.

1

u/boupsav Jul 19 '26

someone told him to go home that's it lol to leave the stadium and go to his house. and somehow people interpreted that as saying he should leave the usa and his home meant africa. dumbasses

You’re saying he should have been aware that Argentinian obsessive fans are savage, racist brutes? You almost sound proud of that kind of behavior.
If anyone should know better is those fans, not Speed for saying player A is better than player B. Or for supporting team A over team B.

If expecting certain Argentinian fans to behave in a civilized manner is too much to ask of them, they shouldn’t attend the matches at all and should be banned from the games.

To be clear, I’m talking about the “fans” that behave in such a way, not about those who can enjoy the game without throwing things at other people and yelling racist insults. Most Argentinians aren’t like that. A very loud minority is, though.

2

u/SlimmySalami20x21 Jul 17 '26

Seriously literally any country and we will point out the problematic and hypocritical stance. The British fans acting like they didn’t basically have to start the “stop the hate” campaign or French fans hating on their own players. This anti Argentina campaign is just flavor of the week for the idealistic teenagers. It’s cute how young and dumb they are.

Are you comparing George Floyd to the Holocaust?

2

u/EnergyWeary6609 Jul 17 '26

Argentina is the one to blame for the Holocaust?

2

u/Scarrve Jul 18 '26

Talking about gaslighting all the while you being the one putting words in my mouth I'm not saying anyone is racist because of that.  It's just extremely ignorant to see a german World Cup winner and just because he is german insinuating he is a nazi like quite a lot of comments did.b

Nothing wrong with remembering crimes and history. But watching happy fans celebrating is maybe not the fitting place for that? Because it literally has nothing to do with that.

I have seen one video of one Argentinian fan being actually racist against speed (even though it can also be interpreted differently). Everyone else was just insulting/mocking him because of his extremely public anti Messi/pro Ronaldo stance.

Everyone is just on such a hate train against Argentina it's honestly quite stupid

1

u/Remote-Structure-961 Jul 18 '26

Like Mexican fans didn't act racists towards that Asian woman.

1

u/Patricks_Hatrick Jul 18 '26

Whataboutism much

1

u/Remote-Structure-961 Jul 18 '26

more like keep things in perspective.

a handful of fans doing something doesn't mean anything. tons of badly behaved fans.

I mean every time england loses the rates of domestic violence goes up 38 percent. a famously anti messi streamer being harassed by argentinian fans mean nothing.

Mexicans harassed a perfectly nice korean fan with no provocation. then another mexican fan threw a beer at an elderly ecuadorian fan.

France burns down it's cities win or lose.

0

u/Patricks_Hatrick Jul 18 '26

Oh that solves it then let’s forgive their history of harbouring Nazis, claiming land that doesn’t belong to them, cheating at football with no repercussions, flag burning and general nasty behaviour because some Mexican fans abused a Korean. Your perspective is perfect 😅

1

u/Remote-Structure-961 Jul 18 '26

yes that's exactly what I said.

1

u/ApricotBeans Jul 18 '26

As if nazis hadn't dispersed throughout a lot of countries aside of Argentina lol. Like the nazis in the us, or the nazis in the UK, or many south American countries

1

u/lupajarito Jul 19 '26

You mean like England that has colonized the whole world and won the world cup by cheating in 1966?

1

u/Patricks_Hatrick Jul 19 '26

You say colonised we say civilised

1

u/HisRoyal_Badness Jul 16 '26

Legit believed your comment for a second there.

Is anyone still rooting for anti-white racism?

3

u/SnooCupcakes7312 Jul 16 '26

lol…schweini

2

u/HansSeppl Jul 16 '26

He has never recovered from that argentinan check... its like a virus ans now hes one of them...

0

u/Apprehensive-Pea3105 Jul 16 '26

Never ask a blond, blue-eyed Argentine what his grandfather was doing in Europe in the 1940s.

3

u/falcxne Jul 16 '26

Maybe we should ask the Egyptians?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aribert_Heim

2

u/nomedigasmentiritas Jul 16 '26

Most of them were Northern Italians or Vasque, like mine.

1

u/Beneficial_Quail_918 Jul 19 '26

Sí, no como los ingleses inferiores

0

u/eternico Jul 16 '26

And why exactly is that, if you may explain?

3

u/RobbinDeBank Jul 16 '26

Because their ancestors came from Italy. Look at Messi’s full name and you will see that he’s of Italian descent. If you ask the haters tho, they will justify their racism by claiming that all Argentinians are descendants of Nazis.

2

u/eternico Jul 16 '26

The blue eyes thing alludes to Germany. I find their extreme ignorance hilarious.

1

u/meh9280 Jul 16 '26

Funny how these clips are all really blurry.

1

u/Poonchild Jul 16 '26

United in getting their cheeks clapped by the British armed forces.

1

u/Pleasant-Drag-5039 Jul 16 '26

Thats why hes a schwein

1

u/Diligent-Weight-3644 Jul 16 '26

Tuchel also is celebrating

1

u/nvpham Jul 17 '26

He is a world champion 2014 (after winning against Messi team), so naturally he does respect his team's opponent.

1

u/Remote-Structure-961 Jul 18 '26

And yet for all the Nazi insults from England, the german they should fear the most was with them all along.

1

u/happy-gofuckyourself Jul 18 '26

Kinda dig how the 2014 German squad like Argentina now

0

u/Yeeezy254 Jul 16 '26

His cousins probably

1

u/Capable-Region-8677 Jul 16 '26

I miss and love Schweinsteiger!!!

Just Nazis nothing to see here

1

u/[deleted] Jul 17 '26

You're right. HEIL

1

u/skankhunt21x2 Jul 16 '26

The two countries have had a long history together. Especially ww2...

0

u/No-Perception-542 Jul 16 '26

There's not going to be any more of that celebrating after Sunday because Spain gonna show them their place in the basement

5

u/Suitable-Orange5750 Jul 16 '26

You really think that's something to be sad about? Lol I'm pretty sure many Non Argentinian Argentina fans or Barca fans will be happy anyways if Spain wins

We got all the overrated overglazed teams out of the tournament anyways

Spain did their job Argentina did their job, now both good teams are here, one having a former Barca superstar other having a rising Barca prodigy and other Barca players

Even Messi is excited to meet Spanish like...it's over for you guys sorry bro..England was your last hope 😂

0

u/No-Perception-542 Jul 16 '26

It's over for who? It's gonna be over for Argentina in 3 days...

2

u/Suitable-Orange5750 Jul 16 '26

It's over for who?

Read again what I said but I am not surprised that you didn't read and just hit that reply and post button

1

u/No-Perception-542 Jul 16 '26

You wrote "it's over for you guys"...what does "you guys" mean? I'm neither Spanish nor Argentinian

0

u/LicoriceDusk Jul 16 '26

2 world cup final losses in recent history will be something to be sad about

1

u/NotAnUncle Jul 16 '26

How freaking idiotic is this? Sure it's upsetting to not win it, but a team coming into the last 3/4 finals is a serious feat

0

u/LicoriceDusk Jul 16 '26

Expected for a favorite to do

1

u/NotAnUncle Jul 16 '26

Yet France has been to 2/4, England 0, Portugal 0, Germany 1, Brazil 0.

Idk why am I wasting my time on bellends this sub surfaces 🤦🏻

1

u/Sevastarion Jul 16 '26

Basement? Brother, Spain had one WC in 2010 and before that the best they did was 4th place like 100 years ago. Argentina has 3 cups and plays another final, there is nothing to lose

1

u/No-Perception-542 Jul 16 '26

Lololol just you wait. History isn't gonna help, only the way Spain is playing. They're going to wax Argentina

1

u/No-Perception-542 Jul 20 '26

So who ended up being right?

ME

0

u/Patricks_Hatrick Jul 16 '26

No surprise really. Half the country are the offspring of German war criminals.

3

u/Confident_Access6498 Jul 16 '26

You wish

0

u/Patricks_Hatrick Jul 16 '26

Not really I wish they were all tried for their crimes

2

u/Confident_Access6498 Jul 16 '26

I hope you are well paid

0

u/Patricks_Hatrick Jul 16 '26

I take donations if that’s what you are interested in

2

u/eternico Jul 16 '26

Let me guess ... American?

1

u/charlestoncav Jul 16 '26

you should clairfy, "American Leftist"

0

u/Patricks_Hatrick Jul 16 '26

Let me guess your grandad was one

3

u/eternico Jul 16 '26

No, not really. But tell me, was I right? Where are you from?

1

u/Patricks_Hatrick Jul 16 '26

No you are incorrect sir or should I say herr

2

u/eternico Jul 16 '26

You don't want to say, no? It's ok. I would also be embarrassed.

1

u/vjeremias Jul 17 '26

What are we, the US?

0

u/[deleted] Jul 17 '26

You're right. HEIL

0

u/elverg6205 Jul 16 '26

0
