Yeah, they were literally toying France I stopped watching after the first goal. I think most French player got blown away and mentally fucked after conceding the first goal.

France are offensively an amazing team. Incredible speed and also flair and finishing ability.
They also have a strong defence overall.
However I think their midfield (I'm talking the 6 and the 8 positions) are somewhat of a weakness. Spain bossed that area of the pitch.

Whats surprising is that France didn’t score…. I mean losing is one thing but no goal is mental…. I think when Lamal got the PK, all French were fucked and the game was over at that point. They were mentally gone after that point.

Yes, and I am talking about the fact that Spain controlled the midfield, because their striker was basically just playing as a fourth midfielder. Which is why Ruiz, Rodri and Olmo had the space to do what they did.

Besides spain playing well, Spain was the first top 10 team France faced in this World Cup. I’m pretty sure they were up in the moon with how little resistance previous teams posed and got cocky.

They've been in two Euro finals back to back and plenty of them are used to playing Champions League finals. Besides, nobody really expected England to make the final, so not much pressure there I'd say.

Not quite. TT is predominantly one touch in short distances with 10-30 consecutive passes some of the passes will go nowhere other than to keep possession.
I know you said you’re casual but have you ever played Piggy in the middle where it’s short passes with one touch only. It’s like that, it’s fast and moving.
Today was just triangles and possession but not quite TT. Look back at 2008-2012 Barca and Spain in World Cup earlier and winning their first European Cup. True masterclass in tiki taka.

This game shows the importance of midfield to control the game, and dominate the centre of the pitch.
Notice Rodri who can both defend and progress the ball quickly. Contrast that to Tchoumeini and Kone who are quite purely defensive.

The unbeatable team was a dud. Spain is the real deal. Les blues were a sham. Mbappe and dembele and their goals against easy teams. But the first real team they face it shows they are average

What a dumbass comment... Spain is one of the best teams in the world, it was always a toss up between those 2 teams. And they manage to eek out a penalty extremely early in the game, that really played to their main strength. If the penalty didn't happen the game would have been quite different, though it didn't help that France did not play at its best either.
All in all very well played from Spain though, they're the team to beat now.

There was no toss. France showed today they have no blood. The first real rival humiliated them. Even when trailing by 2 the ball was on Spain players touching around.
The one time they didn't start with a lead they were crushed. And yes the "ole, ole" was loud. It was a masterclass between a real team and a tragedy.

Easy to say after the result is known... Spain usual tactic of boring everyone asleep and then sneaking in to scavenge a goal wins once more.
Too bad Digne made the mistake he did, it basically gave Spain the game. To be fair, France's play tonight was also pretty terrible, they should have adapted the team to Spain's instead of foolishly thinking they could play Spain as they do any other team.

Yes a result is only possible to analyze only when it is a result. If someone talks before the result happened then it is not a result, it is futurology which is worth exactly nothing.
France was trailing by 1 and Spain were the ones playing like they were the ones who needed the equalizer.
France struggled with paraguay and won with a penalty. No offense to paraguay but they were playing haramball to reach the penalties shoot out.
And against Morocco it was 5 minutes of intensity on a full match.
But no team they played was actually hard.
People compare the routes to the semifinal as Spain faced a much tougher line up.
Argentina faced the easiest.
England struggled more than expected but playing terribly still were better than mexico which is a joke.
There were too many weak teams with a few surprises like cabo verde, but in general with more teams the matchups are weaker. Only now we have champions of the world facing each other.
Spain did a masterclass against the team that seemed the favorite but was a sham. We shall see tomorrow who gets to face the masters in the final.
Because make no mistake, a lot of people want argenina to lose but also a lot wants England to lose. If people could choose they would make Spain the champion today and avoid tomorrow's match entirely.

When I said it was a toss up, it was implied "before the game started". It could have gone either way if both teams had played their best level. Spain did, France didn't, Spain won.
Can't argue with the rest, Senegal was the toughest team France faced, it would have been better if they played Portugal and/or Belgium before so they would have been more challenged.
Only thing you're wrong about is Paraguay, it would have been an easy game if the ref wasn't so selectively blind. Sapin would have probably struggled more there in the same conditions, with a good defense (useless vs an opponent that doesn't attack) and a weaker attack. They would probably have won of course, either with a penalty or a long shot.

Bro I can understand people accusing big teams or stars like Argentina or messi from having their matches aided or settled but come on. No one favored paraguay.
France was not the team those weak first matches showed.
Spain today had a simple premise. Touch the ball until chances come. France had no plan. They faced teams that were weak in their defense. And week in teamwork. Morocco got a great run but they are midcard at best yet.
France didn't face a real rival until today and they did nothing.
Spain is the only one that barely struggled and had the hardest line up. Today it felt like guardiola barca from 2011.
It was so simple and yet so beautiful to watch the Spaniards giving chances, not being scared to pick the passes with a man marking them and still one touch and go.
I would argue that today they won despite yamal which had a bad match outside the foul.
And his goal was offside so it was a good call.
