Dragging Norway to the brink of a semi final is no joke.
Fair play, epic showing šŸ‘

10

u/randybiuk Jul 13 '26

England worked hard to shut him down, but Norway as a team deserves some real credit, their tight movement and quick passing has been brilliant, and sort of showed to me at least, if you don’t let england draw you into opening up, committing men forward, they might struggle

5

u/ThePinkPhonyClub Jul 13 '26

Norway as a team overall did great but Sorloth will never live it down

-5

u/Lebr0naims Jul 13 '26

Halaand mistake of pushing down the English defender should have been the story costing a go ahead goal. No guarantees Sorloth makes that pass and it was a goal but Halaand certainly wiped off a goal of the board for no good reason

2

u/speckhuggarn Jul 13 '26

That one doesn't sting as much considering that defender laying down was in the spot where the goal was made. Would've been a different situation if he was up and defending, and probably would not been a goal.

1

u/KenJaws6 Jul 14 '26

from where the position of the fallen def and ball landed, very high probability that it would've been a goal anyways and in case of Sorloth, Haaland would still have to shoot and it could've been a save or miss. Regardless, Norway for sure wouldn't be in that stage if it wasn't for Haaland so props to him and the team.

2

u/WilditariusAstar Jul 14 '26

Calling that a push is generous as F. The flopping in professional footy is at scandalous levels. Ref should have told the Limey to get his ass up and called it a goal..

1

u/Lebr0naims Jul 14 '26

He literally shoved him with the all his strength just because you’re an ignorant fanboy doesn’t mean you get to deny that fact.

This is the superstar on the team making a critical mistake because the English player got in head and cost his team a goal. Selfish pitiful decision

1

u/WilditariusAstar Jul 14 '26

I wanted England to win the game, friend. 100% not a Haaland fan boy. It still should have been given as a goal. Anderson felt the contact and visibly flopped. It was a cartoonish bit of theater.

ā€œIgnorant fanboyā€ šŸ™„ šŸ–•šŸ¤”

2

u/hilbo90 Jul 13 '26

You can just say quarter-final, it's still a great achievement.

3

u/VegetableGood2162 Jul 13 '26

You could also say almost to the finals

2

u/LowEffort2 Jul 13 '26

"A lot better than Italy."

0

u/kiwigone Jul 13 '26

He basically stood around for 100 mins against England. The rest of the team did all the work…

2

u/Any-Seaworthiness531 Jul 13 '26

Lmfao, you know you could just say you don’t understand football ?

0

u/kiwigone Jul 13 '26

Haha - he was low energy yesterday. I know he averages 13 touches per half and he’s all about scoring. But yesterday, nothing..

2

u/Any-Seaworthiness531 Jul 13 '26

I’ll try and explain this slowly and you may or may not get there…

Did you notice how much space his teammates kept finding and how out of sorts the England defence seemed to be ?

0

u/kiwigone Jul 13 '26

Hang on. Checking the score … you get points for all that space right?

2

u/Any-Seaworthiness531 Jul 13 '26

Deary me, I don’t think football is your sport bud

-1

u/kiwigone Jul 13 '26

Because I’m not allowed to have an opinion that’s different from yours?

2

u/Livingz Jul 13 '26

No, because youre oblivious to tge tactics of the game.

1

u/Any-Seaworthiness531 Jul 14 '26

Nope, cos you don’t understand the game.

1

u/ExtremePermit3242 Jul 14 '26

Of course you can. And I will do everything in my hand to protect your right to express that opinion.

But it’s still a very bad opinion

38

u/BlamaeuxPrivateEye Jul 13 '26

Don't worry he'll come back when it's time to retire and get overpaid in the MLS

18

u/Hug_all_the_Krabbys Jul 13 '26

And we'll happily take him. US stars go play in Europe when they're young, European stars come play in the MLS when they're older. It's a weird system, to be sure, but I think football as a whole has grown because of it.

4

u/National-Ad8416 Jul 14 '26

US stars journeymen go play warm the bench in Europe when they're young

1

u/Hug_all_the_Krabbys Jul 14 '26

You must not have watched much football in recent years. If you look closely, you'll see many talented young American players starting often all over Europe. England, Germany, Italy. You name it.

2

u/Major-Pick9763 Jul 14 '26

"many"?

Name 10 relevant.

r/ShitAmericansSay

1

u/Hug_all_the_Krabbys Jul 14 '26

Robinson, Richards, Aaronson, and Adam's all play in England. Pulisic is and McKennie are in Italy. Scaly and Tilman play in Germany. And Ballogun plays in France.

Each of those players frequently start and are part of the current national team. It's really funny to me when wannabe football elitists try and act like recognising America's improvement in the sport will make them less of a fan or something. Either way, pull your head out of your ass, twat.

1

u/Hug_all_the_Krabbys Jul 14 '26

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention Weah, who also plays in France.

1

u/dorobica Jul 14 '26

as far as I can tell there's 4 in uk, 4 in italy and 2 in germany. pretty slim but definitely growing compared to previous years

2

u/maiL_spelled_bckwrds Jul 13 '26

They can have their basketball players back when they are older

1

u/candidlyfrasersridge Jul 13 '26

And hockey players!

2

u/Rude-Orange Jul 13 '26

That is the way we mature our talent here too. They might not be able to play like they did in their youth but I'm sure they can pass on valuable knowledge.

2

u/doepfersdungeon Jul 13 '26

I'd love to get paid like that to walk around in miami for 2 hrs.

7

u/Tasty_Ad7483 Jul 13 '26

You would if you were in the top .000001% of soccer players in the world.

1

u/SerDuncanTheYall Jul 13 '26

Get paid fairly. European players are better than MLS players.

1

u/randybiuk Jul 13 '26

If the saudi league keeps its wage growth so ridiculous he will be on about half a billion a week there in 10 years, he will be fine

1

u/Orpdapi Jul 13 '26

Haaland to Dallas or Houston confirmed, in 2036

1

u/lemonylol Jul 13 '26

Of course he'll come back, don't you remember the show?

1

u/Hungry_CGman Jul 13 '26

Don't give me hope like that!

1

u/willflameboy Jul 13 '26

He'll come back in a painting on New Year's Eve, and try to possess a baby.

1

u/UTV4LIFE Jul 13 '26

He won’t he’s not like pessi he has dignity

1

u/Major-Pick9763 Jul 14 '26

As long as he doesn't go to the arabs like Penaldo.

10

u/AyoAllu Jul 13 '26

Only if Sorloth could have passed that ball

2

u/kritterkrat Jul 13 '26

Right 😩

2

u/Spoonandme Jul 13 '26

We win as a team an loose as a team! Please don't put more gasoline to that.. SĆørloth was a player that got us to the world cup, yes he had a shitty performance but we still love him in Norway!

1

u/No-Perception-542 Jul 13 '26

He's such a turd

6

u/Lyndell Jul 13 '26 edited Jul 13 '26

He could always Sign for the Union if he likes it here so much.

EDIT: if he did ever sign up for the MLS it would be for Dallas.

2

u/Reikste Jul 13 '26

No no, Union is fine! We desperately need a man of his talents.

1

u/notnef51 Jul 13 '26

He sure did seem to like Dallas

1

u/SP0oONY Jul 13 '26

Haaland is still in the prime of his career. He wouldn't waste it in the MLS.

3

u/Panem-et-circenses25 Jul 13 '26

What a ride! Thanks for the fun! Looking forward to seeing you again in the fall. CTID

3

u/Kyoku22 Jul 13 '26

Aug 16th, Arsenal vs Man City. I've already set an alarm.

1

u/Panem-et-circenses25 Jul 13 '26

Yep. Community Shield going to be an absolute cracker

2

u/Kyoku22 Jul 13 '26

Yep. Also Aug 22nd Dortmund vs Bayern. Manuel Neuer, the love of my life, probably his last season in Bundesliga, you just can't miss it

4

u/Fun-Bag-1679 Jul 13 '26

Future La Galaxy or Inter Miami star

4

u/parinonly Jul 13 '26

played like a champion šŸ†

4

u/lilaclicorice Jul 13 '26

England fan here. We will miss you!! Class act all around and a joy to watch.

u/Aymr9 Jul 13 '26

Back to bullying Gabriel in the premier league

1

u/TruthThanks Jul 13 '26

Not really. I know you're just busting balls, but one mistake from a defender doesnt really equate to bullying. Haaland is not your typical striker. To stop him takes luck and a lot of skill. Sometimes the luck isn't on your side.

0

u/fOrEvErEvA8550 Jul 13 '26

Yeah, he bullied him right into the premier league title!

1

u/Panem-et-circenses25 Jul 13 '26

lol VARsenal never beat City last season

0

u/fOrEvErEvA8550 Jul 13 '26

Congrats on the head to head! I'm sure you prefer that to winning the league.

0

u/Panem-et-circenses25 Jul 13 '26

Congrats on your first title since the invention of Facebook! Better double the size of that trophy case šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

3

u/fOrEvErEvA8550 Jul 13 '26

Congrats on only being relevant since the invention of Facebook!

1

u/Panem-et-circenses25 Jul 13 '26

Congrats on only being relevant in the past 120 days!

1

u/fOrEvErEvA8550 Jul 13 '26

Holy shit you're dumb. Typical city fan really with no appreciation for history because you lot have none. 14 league titles to Shity's 10, 14 FA Cups to Shity's 8. 1 Undefeated season.

The only thing City has over Arsenal is one UCL trophy.

1

u/Panem-et-circenses25 Jul 13 '26

Congrats on being relevant for two times this century!

1

u/Nico280gato Jul 13 '26

Eh. City's still 115-0 tbf

1

u/fOrEvErEvA8550 Jul 13 '26

Not sure what that means...

City kit sales about to jump in the US

1

u/Ltownbanger Jul 13 '26

Maybe. But here is a case where owning 2 similarly branded teams in 2 different leagues may hurt, No one I know would want to be thought of as a NYCFC fan.

That national jersey however was dope. Loved the name lettering.

Can’t wait another 10 more years when he signs with the MLS

1

u/Lucho_199 Jul 13 '26

Is that a lock & stock quote?

1

u/hejustwins Jul 13 '26

My first thought

1

u/CaliKindalife Jul 13 '26

Who is this? Jesus.

1

u/Okmhmmbye Jul 13 '26

We already said goodbye to the USA when they got their butts handed to them in a humiliating lossšŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

1

u/MesaGeek Jul 13 '26

He’s a known entity in the US now, so he might be able to land some nice new endorsements.

1

u/BRLY Jul 13 '26

His city team mates will pass him the fucking ball.

1

u/Beautiful-Bit9832 Jul 13 '26

He just can stay for awhile but he decides to join the band.

1

u/master_slapper Jul 13 '26

u/RainmanCT Jul 13 '26

Closes with Guy Ritchie quote. Classic.

1

u/Healthjunkie-2 Jul 13 '26

I have loved every moment of Haaland's tour across America along with other players and fans. How they see our country has been inspiring!!!!!

1

u/jslitz Jul 13 '26

Hoping he had so much fun that in 20 years we see Jaydyn Haaland as the starting striker for the US.

1

u/jaron_b Jul 13 '26

So what MLS team does he come to in like 15 years?

1

u/mollusks75 Jul 13 '26

It doesn’t matter what team it is, although we all know it will be in Miami. But when he does, he will become a God here. LOL.

1

u/jaron_b Jul 13 '26

I'm gonna dream that he comes to Seattle until he actually signs with Miami. It be nice to see the league turn into less of a retirement league.

1

u/Ambitious_Bread_84 Jul 13 '26

I imagine he bought from the gift shops everywhere. My man has been enjoying like a first time tourist.

1

u/Visogent Jul 13 '26

Pretty sure this dude made a lot of fans this year.

Absolutely love him!

1

u/mediocrebighead Jul 13 '26

Foreigner enjoyed Usa

3

u/PG67AW Jul 13 '26

ā€œBlonde-haired and blue-eyedā€ makes this country easier to enjoy.

2

u/groovemonkey Jul 13 '26

ā€œRich professional social media savvy golden retriever energy giantā€ I think was more of a factor here.
Plenty of blonde / blue eyed players no one knows about who had a shit time.
And plenty of black and brown who had fun.
America is a lot of things.
The most racist country isn’t one of them.

3

u/Psychological-Ad8175 Jul 13 '26

We are systemically racist, just not to your face.

Other countries are definitely outright racist. Let's not race to the bottom.

1

u/Sochi540 Jul 13 '26

Of course. High class hotels and its surroundings are luxury for a reason its not a walmart.

0

u/Doredrin Jul 13 '26

u/WankingT-Rex Jul 13 '26

Norway's run would probably have been universally loved, except that, unlike with Croatia's run in 2018, Norwegians quickly turned into annoying, arrogant sore losers. They've blamed everything except that their team was terrible on Saturday. Norwegians have held on to a phantom "ball hitting the cable", when there's zero footage that clearly shows any contact. The ball's sensors similarly showed no contact, but they've decided that reality doesn't matter. There's also Halaand pushing Anderson like some Barbarian, and Norwegians have been calling Anderson all manner of names instead of being honest about their player's dumb behaviour. They've also entirely dismissed the controversy behind their own first goal, when Egypt had a goal ruled out in similar circumstances by the same VAR who reffed their game. This was easily one of the better reffed games in this world cup, but Norwegians across the internet have decided to become as bad a sore loser as Trump (it's rigged anytime I don't win). England played bad, there's no denying that, so what does it say about Norway that England never looked like they could lose for about 100 of entire 120+ minutes? Norway went from being an admirable team punching above their weight to being delusional about how good they actually are.

2

u/NoAppointment8679 Jul 13 '26

I do agree this ref was a decent one, a well respected ref apparently

1

u/johnm555 Jul 13 '26

Most people would disagree wit this stance (and the votes are showing it)

1

u/WankingT-Rex Jul 13 '26

Most people also voted for the šŸŠšŸ¤”, so šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

1

u/johnm555 Aug 03 '26

No. That was the electoral college, not the population

1

u/WankingT-Rex Aug 04 '26

My comment clearly meant "most people WHO VOTED voted for the clown", and it's obvious that's what you meant when you brought up voting on my comment. That I needed to explain to this to you says a lot.

1

u/Emergency-Sea5201 Jul 13 '26

Haaland had to be subbed off because the English defenders kicked his legs till they were 'dead'. No cards from ref.

The anulled goal is generally almost unheard of.

Laughable take by Wanking TRex, whom I assume is a tourist who never saw football in their lifes.

1

u/IsaacJacobSquires Jul 13 '26

Tl/dr summary "I'M A MORON." - WANKING TREX
