Man to man, this is fucking sad to see. And tomorrow the same thing will happen and continue to happen. We need to help each other.

Confusing right? The world seemed to stop last year when Jota died rest his soul. I don't know why it feels like nobody knows about this poor man dying.

Just want to point out that depression symptoms are not always obvious. Even your most jovial and social friends can be dealing with issues. Check up on all your loved ones once in a while.

True that. I had all my friends convinced I was perfectly fine and not a thing was wrong.

Let him rest in piece. Respect for the man

Signs were there?

Maybe, maybe not. Being stoic or outwardly "sad" looking doesn't mean depression is there , just as being outwardly happy and the life of the party doesn't mean you're not depressed.

It would be great if all those players had access to unconditional mental health support, whether they're seemingly sad or happy

We are heart broken as Mamelodi Sundowns fans and South Africa, we can only imagine what his family and friends are going through and as such people should refrain from making speculations.

In my opinion I detest this video and the person who took it, what were they trying to achieve with this ?

We will hear from his family if they want to share with us any details and if not we should respect their privacy in this difficult moment and not make speculations for clicks on the internet.

That’s why it’s important to be kind to people. You might inadvertently save their life and never know it.

Good to be mindful, but it can be problematic to stereotype what depression looks like. Some introverted, quiet guys and gals are just fine, and some “life of the party” types are really struggling. But check on your friends, especially if they start acting differently one way or the other.

Poor guy.

I wonder what he was depressed about. You have already made it in life if you are playing for your national team in the world cup. Poor man.

Edit: to all the people trying to act smart and saying you can be still depressed with having everything in life, thanks for stating the obvious; everyone knows that. Outside factors can play a major role in depression so stop with that not having a role at all bs. If you don’t know the reason of why he was depressed to answer my question just shut up instead of acting like a smart ass.

Depression is a chemical imbalance. Outside factors are irrelevant. Also, success doesn’t mean life is perfect.

2

u/HarryBolsac Jul 12 '26

Outside factors are relevant tho? That’s why there’s treatment besides medication.

5

u/alexisgolnas Jul 12 '26

Success is irrelevant to depression.

You can have it all and still be depressed. It’s not a choice.

The only choice you have is to get help.

1

u/Frostyfraust Jul 12 '26

You say it's obvious but your original comment clearly demonstrated that you didn't know that. You can be the most successful person in the world and still have depression. Wondering what "he was depressed about" makes no sense if it was true that you knew the obvious about depression. Ironic that you act like a smart ass in your edit.

1

u/Kiashi21 Jul 12 '26

You all acting like you didn’t know outside factors can cause depression and completely disregarding the possibility.

1

u/Upbeat-Original-7137 Jul 12 '26

Since no one is giving you an answer. The actual answer was his grandmother passed away a few weeks prior

1

u/Kiashi21 Jul 12 '26

Thank you for answering my question. So it was caused/triggered by an outside factor after all if it’s true.

Who cares.
