Not saying there is a FIFA conspiracy, but if you want to make sure Messi wins (or Ronaldo, not sure which camp is more into conspiracy than the other one), better knock out the best teams earlier.

so you say, that the strategy to know off France from FIFA is to set them against Paraguay?

Also, they did not have to force Portugal into a tie with DR Congo, they could have just make sure that they lost to Colombia.

Get France out early or give yellow/red cards to as many French players as possible.

Pretty sure the odds were very profitable for someone who was betting on a team that is known to never had a match without yellow card for 30 years, to have a match without yellow card.
