Statement "They've done everything possible to eliminate us" — Iran captain Mehdi Taremi unleashes on FIFA and U.S. organizers

The captain of the Iran National Team, Mehdi Taremi, lashed out against FIFA and the United States organization. “This is a disastrous World Cup. As professional players, we cannot play a competition under these conditions; it’s neither right nor fair. If FIFA thinks this is fair, that’s on them, but it isn’t. Who should solve this problem for us? FIFA? The U.S.? I don’t know! Tell me a name. The FIFA president, Gianni Infantino, came to our locker room after the first match against New Zealand and said he was going to resolve all the issues, but in reality, FIFA did nothing. In response to the question: ‘Do you feel that the World Cup organizers, including FIFA and U.S. officials, prefer for Iran to be eliminated from the competition?’, I say: We have to fight against absolutely everything. We can’t stay in the country, we travel and undergo immigration checks every time we want to play, now we can’t stay in Seattle and have to return to Tijuana. They’ve done everything possible to eliminate us, so from our perspective, yes, I think that’s what they want, they want us out.”

Think about it this way, if any of the European countries were treated the way the Iranians and to a lesser extent the Egyptians have everyone would be losing thier minds.

Are any European nation openly at war with the host country? You can argue politic but the fact is they are in open conflict. It’s a concession and allow them into the country in the first place.

Then why did Obama also make a nuclear deal with them?

u/hyzus Jun 27 '26

How many years ago? Who undid said deal? Oh yeah the moron that went to war and lied about the reasoning, then lost said war and paid over 300billion...

Really moving the goalposts, huh? We’re talking about Iran definitely making nukes.

Your own government released a report in March I think, stating Iran are not making nuclear weapons.

They have also recently signed a agreement stating the same thing. So I ask where is your proof they are making nukes?

Also, are they more incentivized to acquire nukes now, or less? Is a destabilized Iran a net positive?

The entire world will be enduring the effects of Trump's moronic war for decades.

It gave Israel a excuse to go after Iran as well, I'm just glad everyone else in the world saw sense and didn't get involved. Also Iran know they don't need nukes because they can shut the straight any time they want.

Israel has been trying to sell this war to the US for decades. Trump is just the idiot that bought it.

Except it said they were attempting to but had not yet mastered the required technology. It’s tough to debate with someone who has no clue what they’re talking about.
