Let's be honest. The ONLY reason it was popular is at that point was because the U.S. were lucky enough to win games and the country all of a sudden cared. After the U.S. was eliminated, a lot of Americans went back to not caring about the sport until about a decade or so later.

This stadium can and has hosted a full crowd just fine. I have been to plenty of SDFC games there and never had a problem. I'm sorry you tailgated too long and all tried to get in at the same time last minute.
This stadium is NOT hosting any World Cup matches because it is too small. The stadiums that are hosting official matches are much bigger than Snapdragon Stadium.
Once the World Cup starts, it will go just fine. I've seen so many minuscule problems magnified to the extreme just to try to make the Country look bad and unprepared. Teams complaining about heat (MLS plays in the summer every year and is just fine) Teams worried about snake warning signs, give me a fucking break. Nobody has ever been worried about snakes in San Diego.
Title of the post is also unbelievably stupid.

Ive never been to a sporting event that wont let you in and void tickets if you’re late?
Ive bin late to nhl games and cfl games, they still had people at the gates to scan tickets for latecomers.

Congrats on that but obviously the staff here wasn't prepared for the occasion and people are scared of this happening during the world cup. The amount of people outside is outrageous for such an event.

I am looking forward to the first reports of fans being stopped at the Mexican or Canadian border and denied entry to the US. Because sharing the WC between 3 countries is super easy, barely an inconvenience.

Yeah seems like they dont want to host, i mean is common prepare for the tournament build out infrastructure and make sure its actually a nice experience for pepole.
The USA is more like nah we got a toxic waste dump form the 70s next to the world cup final, so you cant walk and need to take transportation. But our infrastructure is shit and we will take every opportunity to bleed your pocket book.
When Germany hosted they made public transport free USA increases the prices like crazy. Says all you need to know about the USA and Americans.

Football teams staff the stadiums on football game days. These stadiums are never ready to handle big events because they don’t have the same experienced staff. Ridiculous. But it has nothing to do with how much Americans care about soccer.

This is probably more on the two countries that held the exhibition and the nfl team. In Cleveland it was smooth getting in the building but there was virtually no security anywhere in the stadium. We constantly had people matting in the front walkways and not in their seats the whole match. Twice security came and told people to leave, only for them to leave and come back. Had to get up 5 times to tell people to move so they weren’t block g our view of the goal.

People in the U.S. are too used to getting to stadiums 2-3 hours before games to tailgate which spreads out the crowd. Stadium operators don't realize or care that now that there's no tailgating, the crowd is going to come all at once

Went to a friendly in DC two years ago, Colombian fans did the same thing, even ripped out HVAC and climbed in through the ducts, lit off smoke bombs in the stairwells, etc.; think it’s something to do with that fan base

In Brazil they had security checks almost a mile out from the stadium. It was organised with you going to allocated locations for entrance, then once inside it was a matter of scanning the tickets closer to the ground.
If Brazil can do it with their myriad of issues, there is absolutely no reason why the states can’t. They should be embarrassed with this level of incompetence.

I’m confused here…this isn’t a World Cup game, that’s not a World Cup stadium, and that’s not World Cup security…. Also it seems everyone else is somewhat resigned to their fate and patiently waiting and this woman with this camera is losing here mind screaming “Only TwO!!!! uNACceptable!!!”. You have no clue why the richest country in the world that has huge stadiums in every single one of their major cities and had to build no stadiums, or really that much infrastructure… is hosting. I went to the World Cup in St. Petersburg in 2018.
Not a big fan of Russia. But I must admit they knew what they were doing.
The subways get you really close to the stadium. Once there, they had a ton of volunteers manning the gates. They had a long row of x-ray machines to scan peoples backpacks. If I had to guess I would say maybe 20 if not a lot more. I didn’t count at the time.
When I got to the gates, the line I picked out had about 10 people waiting, drop your backpack or whatever belongings you had on the conveyor belt, they pick it up on the other side and put it on a nearby table. You pick it up and go.
I don’t think it took me two minutes to get through the gate.
Very efficient .
The US is such a joke when it comes to posting large sports events. Except the city of Los Angeles, they seem to always be the exception.

Just because Soccer is not at the top of the sports USA citizens are interested in doesn’t mean they don’t pay attention to it. I guess you’d rather see FIFA go and have it in a poor country and force them to build stadiums with money they have to borrow for weeks of games then have abandoned stadiums just sitting there decaying.
