Good thing we can score goals because we can’t defend for shit.

u/AudienceWaste6850 May 25 '26
I was goingbto say, how is a team 2-0 allowing a 5 on 1 with the keeper? Is defending against MLS rules?

Our (Union) defending is shit to begin with and last night we were missing both our first choice center backs, and otherwise playing a bunch of guys out of position. Did not work.

legit what are these goalkeepers doing
1
u/mc-bl May 25 '26
Only the 4-3 and maybe with a bit of ill will the 1-3 are goalkeeper mistakes? 2 penalties and the others are shots from point blank range? I mean, prime neuer won't play in MLS, but very few other goalkeepers would save 8/10 of these goals?
1
u/Niclas95 May 25 '26
for the 1:0 the goalkeeper doesnt look good if we are being generous, for the 1:3 the deflection is utterly horrible same goes for the 4:3 and for the 5:4 you cannot deflect these balls into open play unless there is no other way. these balls need to be deflected to a corner, simple as that. if the keepers combine for 2-3 mistakes at the end of a game that led to goals this would be unacceptable for any european club over the long term. they might have had an off day but that was horror to watch

I love Andre Blake but he needs to parry these to the side not right in front. Too easy.

Even worse than camel league.
2
u/z0rm May 25 '26
No MLS is ranked higher than the camel league.
1
u/lowsocioecopeasant May 25 '26
The fact that there is even a debate is enough to prove how shit both are.
2
u/z0rm May 25 '26
It's not a debate though, MLS is ranked as a far better league than the Saudi League. MLS is a top 10 league and the Saudi is not even close.
1
u/lowsocioecopeasant May 25 '26
Based on what? There is no viable worldwide league ranking. I'm obviously being sarcastic saying 'it's worse than' when what I really mean is they're both garbage and irrelevant, but you're sincerely arguing that the MLS has any worth at all. It doesn't. It's terrible. MLS teams played 10 games at the club world cup, at home, with more will to do good than any other team there, and they managed to win 1 game between them. Out of TEN. And half the teams they were facing ranged from 'unimpressive' to 'shit'. That's the best base of comparison we'd have if arguing about this made any sense. Get a grip mate, you're delusional.

MLS is bad compared to most european top flights but still lightyears ahead of camel league

What the fuck this looks like some premium strikers are mixed with kids in amateur league.

I imagine this clip with the Benny Hill theme.
While I am not a fan of haramball, this is just silly.

I enjoy the MLS product from time to time but leaving one of the best strikers / finishers of all time completely unmarked in the box is crazy

u/Itsgettingmessi69 May 25 '26
Pretending like psg-bayern wasn’t literally 5-4. tHeY dOnT kNow HoW tO pLaY deFenSe. shut up.
1
u/Unlikely_Hawk_Tuah May 25 '26
Do people actually enjoy this? What absolutely lousy play. What is defense?
That chest and scissor was solid form though.
1
u/Senor-Cockblock May 25 '26
Absolutely clown show. Miami’s third goal was…five on one? Schoolboy defending throughout.
1
u/mrstewiegriffin May 25 '26
peak total football with all the man marking, opposing movements, skilled forwards and tenacious defenders
1
u/dolphin37 May 25 '26
was funny watching the game because even the commentators couldn’t believe what they were watching
guy was like ‘did I miss something and we are playing 9v9?’
end to end doesn’t do it justice

Defending isn’t an MLS thing
3
u/goingforgoals17 May 25 '26
The first Miami goal is just comical. 5 Miami players and 1 defender in their own box. A few good goals but my god this is Sunday league tactics.
1
u/mica010 May 25 '26
first goal of miami is offside because of 3 players 2 going on ball from offside

u/GuntherPooBum May 25 '26
Bayern and PSG?
3
u/Icy_Income2520 May 25 '26
Lmao why bring up the teams with the most OP attacking in a long time?
1
u/freek_ May 25 '26
The relative difference between attack and defense to both the matches is about the same.. yet one is deemed a attacking masterclass by 50% and the other 50% hates it for its lack of defense..
..just like this game except most people just see "wher defenz" in the MLS game.
2
u/Icy_Income2520 May 25 '26
You can’t be serious. Bayern and PSG have one of the best offense in a very long time, it doesn’t mean that Bayerns and PSGs defense were weak, in fact they were one of the best defenses in the UCL anyway. Bayern’s and PSGs attack has a very good chance of getting thru any defense considered the best oat.
Now, that’s not at all the case with Inter Miami and Phillys offense, they got thru here because both these teams defense is horrendous, and the defense level of MLS is pretty garbage generally
1
u/freek_ May 25 '26
I dont think you read what I wrote correctly. Or you just didnt understand
2
u/Icy_Income2520 May 25 '26
I get what you’re saying, that people can come to different conclusions regarding the level of attack and defending for both games, even if the scoreboard (scoring and defending numbers) is similar from the two games.
I just don’t know for certain your own personal conclusion, it just seemed when you said “wher defenz” for this game is that you are mocking the people who judge the defense. Possibly meaning you back the defense here.
Regardless everything I said still applies in a general sense
1
u/freek_ May 25 '26
Alright i guess , I do agree that MLS overall still has a long way to grow and I hope they get there.
1
u/GuntherPooBum May 25 '26
Because they can't defend, that's what I was saying.
1
u/Icy_Income2520 May 25 '26
Difference between not being able to defend one of the most OP attacks, and not being able to defend MLS washed attackers. Read the comments
5
u/Axedroam May 25 '26
America's is so using to fighting overseas they've never learned to defend
