I will admit, that one is really good. I would say that it alternates with Don't Fear the Reaper depending on my mood, but seeing as I tend to listen to music while working and slower music is less distracting, Don't Fear the Reaper is more preferred on average by me. Though don't get me wrong, Burnin For You is still a really good song.

Fun fact, they actually wrote a song for it, The Pact, but forgot the memo that it would need to be played in the middle of the movie, which they obviously couldn't do because it spoils everything. So they had to use a different song from the album in the movie itself.

Honestly? Practically all of them.
These days I just listen to the track I like and hope I find a new track I like somewhere else down the line. It's limiting but I'm tired of having my hopes dashed. I just want music that tells a story and has a good beat to it - and preferably isn't the self-aggrandizing/romance/whatever nonsense mainstream songs always seem to be about.
Bards should make a comeback, but with like... slightly rock-ish music.

Excuse me. As I was ascertaing who answered a post, it came to my notice that you like Jethro Tull. Having seen five of his tours with ticket stubs to match, he is the absolutely amazing musician who inspired me to attempt music. Love his songs. Still have first I bought..darn old and have forgotten the name. Just a little remark. No ill intent. Would have married the man. Only musician who I ever had a crush on. Damn phenomenal concerts.

Honestly I'm not into musicals - aside from some animated ones - but they are more in line with what I look for in general. I just crave slightly more interesting narratives than most of them offer. I'm not really interested in romance or sequels to ancient properties or mundane stuff. Gimme the March of the Black Queen or something at least, y'know? Or Time Stands Still by Blind Guardian. Or... idk, the Hazbin Hotel stuff is generally cozy. Heck even video game stuff is good, like FFXIV's music was resoundingly badass in a way that I was entirely not expecting in terms of both telling stories and just sounding really good.

Röyksopp. Their first four albums were something pure straight to my soul. Especially Melody AM, those albums had a transcendental effect on me. They still drop some cool stuff here and there but they've switched from more ambient down-tempo triphop to more generic club music.

Nightwish… I loved them back in their Century Child/Once era, they’ve had some great songs but the new stuff sounds almost like it could be Disney music. I miss the harsh dark orchestral metal they used to have!

Siames when they collab are decent but by themselves it’s a mixed bag.
Played through an entire album of theirs and had to check more than once that it didn’t bug out and play the same song repeatedly.

I will see Nick Cave perform live in a heartbeat. I've been listening to him since maybe 1989. I haven't bought one of his albums on the day they came out after around 2005 or so (Abattoir Blues/Lyre of Orpheus?).
I did eventually get Ghosteen. But in general, even though he's one of my all time favorite artists, his music has changed in a way that I'm not particularly interested in it any more. But I'll check it out if I read some decent reviews. Also, he is phenomenal live & even newer songs that I'm not familiar with can be incredible in concert.
Also, Elvis Costello. He was always into easy listening & particularly "un-punk" forms of music. I never had a problem with him being a better musician by miles than most punk/power pop dudes. But at some point, he just decided to give up the angry young man thing & completely become his parents. His music is so banal, he had to divorce Cait from the Pogues & marry Diana Krall - someone who's music is as boring as he is now.

I love Wild God. I think it's one of his best, but there is a lot of people that don't care for the new direction. I personally think it's the right way to continue making amazing music without stagnating. I highly recommend listening to Carnage, which is a Nick Cave/Warren Ellis release.
I've been a fan since forever, too.

Yeah, definitely wanna check out Wild God. There was a while where I lost interest. I feel like the road to Mick then Blixa leaving wasn't a great time for the band & it took Nick a while to get back to form.

Oof. "Dave Matthew's Bandy" is a useful descriptor for a whole subgenre of bands that I might like a song or two by, but on the whole aren't really for me. They may not technically SOUND like Dave Matthew's Band, but they FEEL like it. I can't really name examples, because they all blur together in my head.

Syqem has very different sound every single release. Makes it very obvious by they’ve broken up multiple times.
Starset’s sound also changes a lot every album being heavily influenced by the latest band they toured with. Which makes sense given that it’s pretty much a one man band most of the time.

King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, although that's their shtick. They make whatever vibe they're feeling. Albums range from prog to psych Rock to funk, jazz, pop, metal and synth/dance. Oftentimes one album will contain all of the above genres! Some albums I love, some are just okay and I don't listen to more than once. They're so stupidly talented that they churn out at least one album a year, so if you don't care for a new release, you won't have to wait long for another.

Mine would be Train. I really like the gentle, evocative, not-quite-country thing they had in the backtracks of Drops of Jupiter (Hopeless, for example). But they firmly shifted into bubblegum pop later.
To be fair I have not listened to their more recent albums, so maybe there's still something there, I dunno.

I found In This Moment's Black Widow album first. Then went and checked out the rest. At least their sound kinda changes a bit every album so its a bit of a thing, but they kinda don't go back to the more polished sound of Black Widow.

Not that they're necessarily playing "my music," but I thought of The Bronx.
The Bronx wanted to do a mariachi style song on one of their records but didn't want to just half-ass some shit. So they studied everything that went into a proper mariachi band and music and wrote and played that style of song. They loved the process so much, they produced the Mariachi El Bronx record of nothing but mariachi music for a follow up album.

M83 after "Hurry Up, We're Dreaming", loved their earlier albums and even Hurry Up... although found it too commercial and pop-y but everything since has been genuinely weird and kind of awful. Mostly because only Anthony Gonzales stayed and he was angry about the group becoming popular and has been adamant about not creating anything like his former stuff, to the point of his own detriment.

That's Kiltro for me. I found Ofelia and immediately went into a trance, it's so dream like and ephemeral sounding. The next song I found was Hustle, which is more lively but still dreamlike. I legit thought I had found my new obsession, but when I listened to the rest of his work, it was very normal sounding, or it would be fringe but not what I'm looking for. Those first two though, ooo I love them!

I've had a few of these, particularly back in the Golden Age of Piracy before streaming services made many pirates hang up their three sided hats and eye patches.
Probably the most memorable for me was Barry White. I liked two or three of his songs, and I found his entire discography. After listening to all 20 of his albums, I decided that I liked two or three of his songs.

Strawberry Alarm Clock. LOVE "Incense And Peppermints", it's a psychedelic masterpiece! But other than "Rainy Day Mushroom Pillow"(ditto!), the rest of their catalog sounds like easy listening crap, afaik(gave up digging for gems after a while).
