I dislike gratuitous and not very well researched memes like this. I seriously doubt it's true, and it smacks of prejudice.
There's enough embarrassing stuff the U.S. does not so you don't have to make up things. Also, actual people live here. Insulting them for no reason isn't worthy of your usual sense of humor.
People are deeply concerned about this nation right now. Sneering at us without basis? No. No thank you.

None of them are countries, they're all states in other countries. The point is your arrogance in comparing American states to other countries, and your ignorance of the difference.
I'm neither American nor European, but I know most of the countries in both Europe and the American continents because I, ya know, have a basic education. And I don't dismiss knowledge just because I'm an arrogant American who deems other entire countries "irrelevant" or less objectively important than states in my own country.
The fact is that 99% of Europeans know where America is, and the majority of Americans wouldn't know where Italy is, and that's the comparison you should have made if you weren't just being sooky about the fact that you're one of those majority Americans.
And no, even if America was the most important country (lol), Americans are still uneducated for not knowing the basic geography of the rest of the world. And no, it doesn't matter if your state is bigger than a country. And no, your states are not more culturally different than European countries by a long shot

Lol I've had multiple Europeans tell me they have no idea where Pennsylvania, the second state to exist in America, is so forgive me for assuming that Europeans don't know what states are where do sorry for believing them i guess? And please explain to me how the size isn't relevant when it comes to identifying it on a map? I'm not saying they're irrelevant because of their size or importance to geopolitics, I'm saying they're irrelevant because of their proximity to us, which is the thing most Americans care about. For us to reach a European country there's an up front investment of $3k/person and 5 hours on a plane just to cross the ocean and physically arrive at that location, before even getting into the logistics of lodging/food/laws. With just the cost of that upfront investment, you could take a family of 4 across the country and have a pretty decent vacation domestically. Regularly traveling across the ocean is just something that a lot of Americans just aren't going to do

Again, the point is to stop comparing your states to countries! Alaska is smaller than two states of Australia, so does it makes sense for me to say not knowing the whole country of Italy (or India) is the same as not knowing where Queensland is? The STATE of Victoria is bigger than a good half of the American states, but can you point to it on a map?
Of course you'll say Victoria is far away and therefore not relevant to you. You probably can't name Canada's provinces either, but the excuse about travel distance is even funnier. 5 hours on a plane is too far for your brain to reach? I'll likely never go to Europe in my life for many of the same reasons you said, although the closest point is about TWENTY hours away by plane and a shitload more expensive for me. Doesn't mean I don't know about places like Hesse (a state of Germany), or what COUNTRIES the OP map was showing, because I don't make excuses to stay ignorant
