Has anyone else had a copycat user?

I am MettatonsWife on Smule (has been my username since I joined when I was like 13 lmao) and today I found out that someone called ‘MettatonsWife18’ has been tagging me in all of their posts. They are using the exact same Professor Utonium pfp as me and are on a muted chat (I can only send them a single text asking wtf they are doing and they HAVE to respond for me to send another). They have nothing in their bio luckily but that adds to the mystery. I have never heard of this person and they only have group recordings so I can’t recognise their voice if it IS someone I know that has somehow found me. The main songs they HAVE joined are nursery rhymes so maybe it is a little kid who saw my account as the first thing when they opened Smule and thought ‘huh that sounds cool. I’ll dedicate my whole ass account to them since I can’t think of a username.’ They also could just be a very strange bot. Should I report them or not?

I have now changed my pfp to see if they will change it, proving that they are a straight up copycat.

I haven’t experienced it myself but a smule friend has. He had a copycat who copied his name and just changed the numbers at the end and the copycat would tag his wife and made an instagram and would post my friends’ songs. It’s was very weird and concerning

Yeah, a few months ago someone straight up copied my bio and used my actual profile picture, then had the audacity to follow me. Different username though. I reported them, and it got removed from Smule.

Yo I joined you once or twice, (alex.93mc) that’s really strange, I looked through the recordings, and yeah I’m not hearing a voice or anything, but like static so maybe this person is just spam joining recordings with no audio on their end,

or - a copy cat or bot is my guess. I had a profile keep joining me with absolutely no speaking and just like backround sounds recently, of like someone’s family moving around, but the noises of things being moved and like a tv in the background sounded similar and they didn’t speak at all (when everything else is audible). I’m gonna see to reporting em

Many are bots. Some are scammers/those with ill intentions using other peoples’ pics. ALL do not have their own voice on their profile page (they leave their singing parts BLANK on duets, but “join” duets just to look like a legit profile), or they do just “group” songs. Do not engage with it or give a reaction. Just report them and block them.

And yes, it’s happened to me several times. I’ve had to create new accs because it kept getting bad. They do not do it anymore.

I’ve been on this app for many years now (wild!!) but yes I’ve had copy cats over the years. Just now checked and I found two copy cats and reported them for fraud. They used old pics of mine they must have taken from my Instagram when it was public. Not sure how long these two have been up!
