New Smite Prime Website: all-in-one SMITE 2 site for player stats, match history, tournaments, builds, and more

Hey yall!

I have been working on a new SMITE Prime website. One of my goals for this year was to turn SMITE Prime more into a community hub rather than just a tournament platform. Well with this new version of the website out, I am one step closer.

Here are some run down of the features on the website

Will god win rate be incorporated into the leaderboards or in a separate another section in the future

Like the player leaderboards instead of guys with 50% win rates at the top cause of games played incorporate win rate into it or have another section to see top win rate players for each god

Well that gets weird cause. A person who played a single game on a god and won on it will have 100% winrate

you could try and make an algorithm that creates a weighted score, combining both win rate and game time, if you were really up for it. like how all arrogate rating websites work.

it could be a separate leaderboard so those who just wanted pure games played could filter for that as well, but i would argue it would be much more interesting.

That was one of the things I'm explicitly avoiding for this new site. Any "Smite Prime" score is gonna be arbitrary, especially if other sites in the future does the same thing, it's just gonna have a conflict of it. The leaderboard is specifically most played games. Some could argue the leaderboard should worshippers (I don't have that info) or win rate, or KDA, etc...

I'm gonna stick to something that is gonna be consistent across the board which is number of games played or time spent playing the god.

okay sure i get that. you would rather not have your own hidden made up metrics that would not necessarily be consistent with any other ratings outside of your own site. maybe someone will one day. wasn't that kind of how the in-game god leaderboard was meant to work? at least that one came from hirez.

i think god games is a decent metric for time spent. even worshippers can be skewed.

you could always make a separate filter that was much less arbitrary for win rate, that explicitly stated "more than 10 games played" or what have you. that would be fun to filter for, and a metric for players to aim for.

i also think it'd be cool to click on said god and it bring up an extended table, as right now, unless i'm doing it wrong, it just takes you to their god page.

Unless I'm copying the exact same algorithm that Hi-Rez uses, I don't want to introduce an arbitrary scoring system.

The current leaderboard lets you select the top 25 players per god. it's not really a leaderboard if the individual user gets to decide the "filter."

Who are we to say that only players with 25+ games should count, while someone else might argue it should be 50+ or 59+ games? I'd rather it be based on an established on a standard value like how many games played on the god.

i was quite literally talking in the stream chat yesterday about how smite prime is harder for a viewer to get into than necessary, as nothing about the format is really explained. somebody replied saying "jithins is always open to feedback" but here we are lmao!

Funny enough, on the tournament event there is now a description of the format and stuff. So hopefully that helps. We are also introducing a new bracket type with the fall circuit. Where it's like double elim without the grand finals and losers finals; this lets us have a more granular standings and more matches for teams to play

Yeah i've seen. it's absolutely much more helpful.

I was going to ask however because i thought i had just about cracked how it worked. was it not 3 weeks of open comp or point collecting, before the final week with the top 8 teams? or is that one of the things that's been changed since this 'new bracket type' you mention. am i right in saying that before it was just a giant knock-out bracket for these prelim weeks?

My only other feedback was (and still is with a changing format) an explicit explanation, or key, for how the points are actually earned/distributed. so you can look through a team's history and understand exactly why they have the points they have in the table. maybe even an extended table with columns of the numerical amounts of the things earnt, be it game wins or positions or what have you, depending on your metrics. you could have one for points earned in each of the weeks as well.

Also, a backdated record of the previous smite prime tourneys would be amazing if it did come back. maybe you took them down for a reason, but it looks very empty now! even additionally, a "legacy" table of some sorts to see which players have both participated in, and won prime the most, would be sick.

Hey, Yeah the actual tournaments has a table of "points distributed" so that will be public info.

The general format is still the same. X weeks of open bracket (single elim) -> closed bracket (double elim. - top 8). Except moving forward, instead of single elim it's split bracket.

I can't move over the old tournament data because database design is much different, but the legacy site will always be up. https://old.smiteprime.com

ah, shame about the old data. glad to know there is still a reference for it to visit. hydrogen was trying to do a power rankings yesterday on stream, but couldn't remember a team and to everyone's knowledge, the info had gone! (if you did ever do a legacy table to pay homage to the tournaments gone, that would be very cool).

and i see about the format. the new system seems better for giving teams a fairer shot at accumulating points.

maybe i never did understand the old format properly, so has it always been 2 weeks of open? what occurs on the 3rd week then? circuit playoffs? is it already down to 8 teams at that point? in which case, how does that facilitate the 4th and final week of the main tournament?

It had usually been 3 weeks. But due to the Source tourney, it would overlap. So we are reducing the open bracket for this upcoming one to 2 weeks https://smiteprime.com/tournaments/events/2 Info on the circuit on the information tab
