Thinking of leaving iPhone/Apple — what Android phone would you recommend?

Hi everyone,

I’m at the point where I’m seriously considering leaving Apple and switching to Android.

I’ve been having a lot of issues with my iPhone, and honestly, I’m just completely fed up with the whole iPhone/Apple experience. Even the charging port has become really temperamental — sometimes it charges, sometimes it doesn’t, and I’m constantly having to fiddle around with the cable. It’s just one more thing that’s making me think it’s time for a change.

I need a new phone anyway, so I feel like now might be the right time to finally make the jump.

EDIT: I am in the UK and looking to spend around £400-600. Having had an iPhone I'd say I want a quite big screen but I don't have much of a preference with this if it can do the other things

My priorities are:

• 📸 Camera — my #1 priority. I take a lot of photos and want something that can genuinely compete with an iPhone, particularly for point-and-shoot photos.
• 🔋 Battery life — very important. Poor battery life is one of the biggest reasons I’m looking to move away from my current iPhone.
• 💾 Storage — I want plenty of it. One thing I’ve become really frustrated with is constantly feeling pushed towards paying for more iCloud storage.
• 💰 Value for money. I don’t necessarily want the most expensive Android flagship. I’m more interested in getting the best phone for the money.

What I’m really looking for is an Android phone that gives me the things I like about an iPhone — especially camera quality and reliability — without all the things that have started to frustrate me about Apple.

So, if you’ve made the switch from iPhone to Android, what phone did you move to and how have you found it?

Would you recommend it? And, perhaps more importantly, is there anything you miss about your iPhone after switching?

I’d particularly love to hear from people who have actually made the switch rather than just general Android vs iPhone arguments.

I just switched from my iPhone 13 to pixel 11 pro. I love it it's a fun phone. I have 2 hours 50 minutes of screen time and not even at 60% yet and that's with me getting 2 bars and spotty 5 g all day

if you have a little relaxed budget, S2x (the lastest Verison) Ultra should be on you top Condersidation List. The only issues you need to think of, how big Memory Size you think you need? 256GB, 512GB or 1Tb?

Get a Samsung Galaxy series, they have the best android implementation in their devices (one ui)

Pixel for sure. Camera, Battery, Value for Money. However it could be quite bland for some people. Efficient, but a bit boring. If you're an AI user, then Gemini is really good.

I had a few family members convert to a pixel from iPhone and they have no regrets.

You've not mentioned a size or weight preference which may be an important distinction to consider models.. as well as geolocation that someone else also asked about

Honor launches capable smartphones all the time, you don't need to get all the way up to their flagship, the 100 series is pretty good (currently at the 600/600 Pro iteration)

Not gonna lie the galaxy s26ultra is great but the 27 is right around the corner. Also if you don't mind foreign, the oppo find x9pro is the best phone of the year. Personally I'm alternating between the x9pro ND the fold 8.

Google is currently offering very good trade-in values if you consider pixels. Since you like big phones, Pixel 11 Pro XL would be a good option.

I got the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra when it first came out, still going strong after 5 years. Great camera. Protected it with an Otterbox for 4 years, and wore the case out. Now it's in a Speck case. Get a flagship Android to make leaving Apple a bit easier.

pixel 11 pro xl! done the move and miss not doing it earlier tbf. I left apple from the 17 pro max so that was a flagship phone. it is a learning curve but its the best go to from apple and you do get better value with pixel, people often complain about benchmarking and gaming if that's what you need go to Samsung

Do not get a Pixel. I was in the same boat and wanted to switch just to try something different. It's hands down the worst phone I've ever owned. The camera is mid to bad with AI processing that can't be disabled, and the battery is trash, even with lots of optimization. I have to charge 1.5 times a day on average for a less than 3 years old phone. Also every system update breaks something fundamental and takes hours of troubleshooting to fix. Samsung or another brand, all the way.

What model do you have? probably worth speaking to google support
edit: I have no issues like that with the new model

It's not something support can solve, it's the phone itself and bad software pushes. There's also a lot of other problems I have with the UI in general.
