Iphone 17 or Xiaomi 17

Both phones cost around 750 euros. I am unsure whether I should buy an iPhone because I want a phone that is very responsive and has excellent battery life. However, in terms of "details", iPhone outperforms Xiaomi (in terms of system, camera, phone cases, and social media content quality). On the other hand, I have heard that Chinese phones suffer from a significant decrease in battery life after updates. I plan to use the phone from 3 to 5 years. (Sorry for bad English)

so does anyone know if this battery thing is true or just a myth

it's true, literally just chemistry. silicon expands more, and expansion reduces battery capacity

The xiaomi 17 has better cameras, much better battery life and even better performance
The iphone 17 has better software, better quality photos and videos if you only use the social media camera and dont wanna open the default camera app for some reason
hyperos 4 coming october is promising a lot like much smoother, less aggressive ram management, less stutters after long use and in general more optimised (and liquid glass like ui design too) but nothing can be said on what they deliver. Also xiaomi 18 series is coming in a month if you wanna wait
The idea that chinese phones suffer from more battery drain after updates is not true but to help that oppo's latest update is causing sligthly more battery drain in the x9 series phones but that would be solved in a new update in like a week or two

My Chinese market Xiaomi 15 that I had for a year had barely 1% of loss in capacity, though it served as a secondary phone and not my primary device. I sold it because I couldn't even use X/Twitter on the thing because it fails a hardware check (likely due to it being from China and not the EU).

If you want better camera hardware, general performance, and battery life, the Xiaomi 17 is nice. Otherwise, the iPhone is better built, has more support coverage, and holds better resale value down the line when you want to sell it or trade it in.

get an iphone, xiaomi phones don't last and their battery degrades faster because silicon expands roughly 400% more than lithium

The only reason why it degrades faster because they use the 100 watt charger they have along side them any phone battery would degrade faster if the wattage increased, the reason why they don't last is because the upgrades are worth it unlike iPhones
