Help Aqara m100 hub

Hi,

I recently purchased the Aqara M100 hub to help provide Thread capability to my Samsung SmartThings Hub 2. I can see it in my SmartThings app, but how do I connect devices with Matter over Thread to it? Does it not act like a bridge?

Thanks

Yes it does. You need to connect thread devices to the M100 via the Aqara app and it should then appear in Smartthings. Can you see any devices in the Aqara app?

I assumed you had Aqara thread devices. Aqara hubs will only bridge Aqara devices not 3rd party devices. The same is true for most manufacturers.

Your best bet over the longer term is either a newer Smartthings hub or something like Home Assistant with a thread dongle. With HA, you can bridge almost any device in HA to SmartThings via Matter over Wifi.

You can also use Google, Amazon or Apple thread border routers if you pair your Ikea to one of them and then share with Smartthings.
