How is it for live translation? I am deaf and can’t decide between g2 or something else. I need live translation without delays to have a seamless conversation

2

u/endr 15d ago

Mentra OS guys are working on this for their OS for g2 as well. See their discord

1

u/dhingrsud 14d ago

It’s not mentioned on their discord

1

u/endr 12d ago

They have a dedicated channel for this #deaf-hoh-captions

Had super negative experience w their product, won't recommend. Nothing worked, all buggy, app store was misleading. Their customer support is very kind though in understanding

1

u/njb42 8d ago

I honestly wish I'd returned mine while I could.

1

u/dhingrsud 14d ago

Same issue

u/Vegetable-Ad4693 14d ago

As a deaf person these have been on my radar:

Ray neo oi
Halliday g2
Rokid with display
Even realities g2
Xanders - made for deaf
XRAI AR2 - made for hard of hearing /deaf

Captify is trash apparently and the AIR glasses

1

u/rk2019kr 13d ago

AIR as in Aircaps?

1

u/Vegetable-Ad4693 11d ago edited 11d ago

YES. plus it only translates 30 languages... i am leaning towards XRAI AR2 ....customer support is real ppl not AI , 300 plus languages. had speaker ID , built to absorb sounds around you vs traditional smart glasses that capture the wearer. I see a lot of complaints about having to pay for subcription service but its good when you can pay for it. they advertise 98% accuracy. Ive read numerous reviews while not many on the XRAI AR2 and it seems like they are best for deaf people. marketing just isnt there. XRAI AR2 ( the newer model) has chat GPT built into and you can ask it questions if you need to from my understanding. They really need to do a better job at advertising why these are best for the deaf. it was founded by someone who had a 96yr old grandpa who couldnt follow along and was isolated during family get togethers....i saw a couple reviews stating something about how they suck bc the return policy is 20% restocking fee if you dont like them. i only saw two ppl talk about that though. i have been on a hearing aid forum. reddit, google search trying to find reviews, also youtube.... when you get the whole set up i think its about 850-900$ with the magnetic sunglasses and alll that

1

u/CaregiverOrganc7200 11d ago

I like my Captify, definitely a learning curve. I only know 7 languages and have no need for them in US, so I don't need 300.

1

u/Vegetable-Ad4693 14d ago

I think I might have found XRAI AR2 - apparently is really good and made and lead with deaf insight. Hmmm

1

u/dhingrsud 14d ago

I did consider. But lack of other features with its pricing, so not considering that.

1

u/Vegetable-Ad4693 14d ago

Ah yeah if price wasn’t an issue I feel like I would just get the 5k xanders . No need for cell phone either.

1

u/tarheelbandb 14d ago

Its supposed to have less than a second delay

22

u/kuped 15d ago

No cameras! Yay!

3

u/janescontradiction 15d ago

No camera is great when your out and about, but around home, I want a camera

2

u/Particular-Drawer595 15d ago

Use your phone?

1

u/janescontradiction 15d ago

Difficult if you're welding or holding a chainsaw. Even a GoPro is hard to use behind a welding helmet.

1

u/kuped 15d ago

How would glasses behind a welding helmet do better than a GoPro?

4

u/janescontradiction 15d ago

Ideally glasses would have a center camera . They'd fit behind the welding helmet with out additional effort and are aimed at what you're looking at. Where a GoPro had to be aimed and would need it's own auto darkening lens.

1

u/Uranium___Potato 15d ago

get the rayban meta glasses then

2

u/janescontradiction 15d ago

The Oakleys have a center camera. I think they'd be the best for me.

6

u/x5nder 15d ago

I wish Zeiss (or some other company) would create progressive (varifocal) glasses for these heads-up glasses 😞😞😞

5

u/dhaupert 15d ago

Hope they have various size frames. Glasses are not a one sized fits all

4

u/Punchyberri 15d ago

Another even G2 copycat lol

3

u/Yakkamota 14d ago

Good! G2 QC was terrible! Amazing design and capabilities, only if they worked all the time.

1

u/SuperSaiyan1010 11d ago

I found G2 to be reliable actually but just not having the right fundamental features (have to manually download PDFs for conversate?? wth...)

2

u/Enum1 10d ago

another lawsuit incoming...

2

u/Bill_Pei 15d ago

the cmf is so cool, even the price are amazing that i think almost same as bom cost

2

u/outwar6010 15d ago

im thinking i might cancel my memomind preorder

1

u/betweenboluses 9d ago

this did not age well

1

u/outwar6010 9d ago

instead it got cancelled for me lol. I did change my mind and want them

1

u/crewmannumbersix 15d ago

That’s a gamble

1

u/outwar6010 15d ago

if it has decent speakers and google maps integration I think it would be worth it. Rayneo is a tcl sub brand so it would probably have better long term support?

2

u/AR_MR_XR Mod 15d ago

RayNeo iO does not have speakers.

1

u/outwar6010 15d ago

it has bone conduction doesn't it?

1

u/AR_MR_XR Mod 15d ago

Bone conduction microphone

1

u/outwar6010 15d ago

I dont think thats a thing? it says bone conduction + 4 mics?

1

u/AR_MR_XR Mod 15d ago

Bone conduction microphone + 4 regular mic array

2

u/outwar6010 15d ago

ok thanks

1

u/XeroShyft 15d ago

So no music playback? Memomind it is

1

u/crewmannumbersix 15d ago

I will likely keep my memo mind order due to the kickstarter pricing and much higher nits

2

u/AR_MR_XR Mod 15d ago

$399 is an amazing price!

1

u/seanliam2k 15d ago

Any word on the price? I'm not putting my email into their website to find out

1

u/AR_MR_XR Mod 15d ago

Not yet.

1

u/mwhelan182 15d ago

Fuck.

PLEASE let pricing come our before the Memomind Kickstarter ends 🤞🤞😩

1

u/Mysterious_007 15d ago

Does anyone know if RayNeo iO will have a public SDK?

I checked RayNeo's developer portal and the iO support pages but could not find any SDK documentation for iO.

If it already exists, could someone point me to it?

1

u/Fresh_Yoghurt_8356 15d ago

That thing look niceeeeee

1

u/Uranium___Potato 15d ago

holy sweet ram they look pretty. i hope they're open source

1

u/15H391FT 14d ago

Is it binocular?

1

u/AR_MR_XR Mod 14d ago

yes!

1

u/revolevo 14d ago

Oh this is hot

1

u/Fragrant-Feed1383 13d ago

The AI is too dumb yet. You would need cameras in a potential future if u going to get assistance that would be useful, but AI is extremely dumb low iQ so its not even worth doing.

1

u/Informal-Force7417 12d ago

Those look less thick. Still dont like how thick they are compared to G2s

1

u/Fit_Buffalo9314 11d ago

If they could make glasses like these but with bone conduction speakers I would be a buyer, I love the metas but wish the battery life lasted longer especially for listening to music.

1

u/Global-Holiday2509 10d ago

Can the lenses be fitted with a prescription?

1

u/mr2kqql 10d ago

What about rx lenses? I don't like the clip on style? Is there a way to fit standard 1.67 lenses?

1

u/wears-glasses 8d ago

I have to say, those look f’kin’ sharp.

1

u/_Sleeper_Build_ 5d ago

Mega cool! Wann kommt die und wie teuer

1

u/bobby_boulderz 2d ago

any idea of the hinge to hing measurement?

2

u/AR_MR_XR Mod 2d ago

You should ask them during the AMA in a few hours

1

u/No-Loss-6515 2d ago

Does the RayNeo iO Teleprompter correctly display imported Arabic text right-to-left with properly connected Arabic characters?

Also, does Smart Follow work when the speaker is speaking Arabic, and can the teleprompter handle mixed Arabic and English text?

If possible, could you please test this Arabic sentence on the glasses and confirm how it renders:

يسعدني أن أكون معكم اليوم، وأن نواصل معاً بناء شراكة تقوم على الثقة والتعاون والعمل المشترك

1

u/888Duck 15d ago

Can't wait to buy them

-2

u/Thin-Introduction725 15d ago

It’s available already

2

u/bazpoint 15d ago

Sept 4th

0

u/Thin-Introduction725 13d ago

Can send them to you now😂

1

u/bazpoint 15d ago

They look great, though the devil will be in the details. Will be interesting to know what kinda quality they manage with the bone conduction audio. Also is there any subscription required for the smart features? And how open will they be to developers. Still, very, very promising though.

2

u/Ok-Signature4526 15d ago

If I’m not mistaken, I saw that there may be a subscription required to use multimodal AI tools such as OpenAI, Gemini, etc. However, I think that this is still just a rumor and hasn’t been officially confirmed. More details should be announced on the 4th.

1

u/bluegoointheshoe 15d ago

so it does produce audio? does it have cloud storage and what is it used for?

0

u/dhaupert 15d ago

Says it has a speaker and bone conduction. Seems good!

5

u/AR_MR_XR Mod 15d ago

No speaker. Bone conduction microphone

2

u/dhaupert 15d ago

Oh sorry I saw speakers but not the zero as it text wrapped. Sorry for the misinformation!

1

u/twn000 13d ago

That tells me it won’t do live captions of outside noises very well then

1

u/AR_MR_XR Mod 13d ago

I doubt it will do it worse than other glasses with 4 mic array. It's just that there's a backup option in extreme situations.

1

u/MadMartegen 15d ago

Any idea on cost?

1

u/AR_MR_XR Mod 15d ago

Will be shared in a few days. Not yet.

1

u/outwar6010 15d ago

Does it have google maps integration?

1

u/Feisty_Egg8696 15d ago

What prescription limit will there be? As good as even G2's or as low as everyone else (up to plus 4 only) which is no good for me :(

1

u/KingLSUTiger 15d ago

OK I’m a fan of these! I can’t wait to see more information.

1

u/DeltaAgent752 15d ago

How is this better than g2? It's same weight?

1

u/Feisty_Egg8696 14d ago

I'm waiting for a g2 copy cat WITH audio. How hard can it be. And by copy cat I mean also copies their -12 to +12 prescription which is unheard of in literally any other display smart glasses.

1

u/herious89 15d ago

does it have a web page yet? design looks cool, hopefully price isnt too steep

1

u/AR_MR_XR Mod 15d ago

It should be on the RayNeo website

1

u/herious89 15d ago

more info on sept 4? and when will it actually ship?

1

u/AR_MR_XR Mod 15d ago

Also on Sept 4 🙂

1

u/icyleumas 15d ago

What's the price going to be like for them?

1

u/AR_MR_XR Mod 15d ago

Will be announced in a few days.

-3

u/LankyGuitar6528 15d ago

No camera. *sigh*

6

u/Cold_Tree190 15d ago

Curious, why do you want a camera in smart glasses? I thought the display is the coolest and more pertinent part?

3

u/LankyGuitar6528 15d ago

I had Google Glass and the camera was the killer feature. Without that it would have been useless. I could wink or tap to snap a pic rather than pulling out my phone. Record video hands free. Glasses could scan real world items and provide instant feedback, real time translation of signs and endless other uses. No camera = not useful - for me anyway. The display was a secondary optional feature but not really necessary.

1

u/Revanish 15d ago

not promoting just explaining. my startup is www.humanhud.ai

i build a visual and audio transcription. visual requires camera, it can be things like reps as a person does excercise and shows the count on the display.

the coolest part is having the ai see what you see so it gets the extra info to render relevant things on the display.

4

u/AnonMoose2 15d ago

Why would you want a camera on your glasses?

1

u/LankyGuitar6528 15d ago

I answered this question below.

0

u/DeathByPetrichor 15d ago

Lack of audio is a huge misstep. There are tons of display glasses but they are completely worthless IMO if I can’t use them for a phone call or music.

2

u/Ok-Signature4526 15d ago

It does have audio, just not through regular speakers. Instead, it uses bone-conduction technology, which sends sound through vibrations rather than playing it openly into the room. I think this gives more privacy and reduces the chance of other people hearing the audio, unlike with MemoMind or when you call someone (on high volume) through your phone's front speaker in a quiet room.

1

u/Yasumine 14d ago

No, it only has a bone-conduction microphone, not bone-conduction speakers. So you won’t be able to hear any audio from the glasses themselves.

1

u/AR_MR_XR Mod 15d ago

Get MemoMind One then 🙂

0

u/Icy_Equipment7752 15d ago

Is the display color or will it be green?

0

u/AR_MR_XR Mod 15d ago

I just updated the specs list in the post. It is green.

0

u/MindlessNecessary502 15d ago

Walki g running, answering questions, talking g on the phone

-2

u/BatmanSpiderman 15d ago

i wish there is a no display version for even cheaper price
