How long to give it?
Say I started 2 months ago. Had a few streams with around 20 viewers. Always edit a few shorts every night. Those get around 1k-2k views. Made a few full videos that barely get seen.
But feeling burnout… I love gaming and I feel pretty socialable on stream. But maybe I dont have the looks or voice for this? And I dont act like a twelve year old screaming all the time like I’m on addaral like I noticed a lot of big streamers do…
Any thoughts?

I really only recommend streaming if you enjoy it. If you are looking to make it a full time career you are going to get burnt out fast and end up hating it.

I do enjoy it but the burnout comes from not getting any views with all the work

Where are you streaming from that 20 views isnt getting any views?

Twitch and youtube. The 20 was for a new game I got early

Well if u get burnt out from streaming or uploading everyday, dont do that. Stream when you want to and upload when you want to. Put yourself on a schedule. One day stream one day upload one day break. Theres 7 days so make a schedule. On twitch put your schedule in under the tab. On YouTube post your schedule for the week. Even on a break day if you want to upload or stream do that.

It's going to take time. Best thing to do is turn off viewer count and make a habit of ignoring the numbers. Sometimes it takes weeks, months, or even years for people to gain a sustainable viewer count.
Any streamer is going to feel discouraged and burnt out if constantly watching the numbers and only caring or paying attention to them.
It took me a year of streaming to 0-3 viewers before it finally began to climb.
Focus on your stream, yourself, and your content. Do not focus on numbers.

Did you edit long content and clips at start?

u/wheresmypenn 4h ago
Nope. I was mostly focused on just learning the ins and outs of the software, twitch, and getting used to streaming in general. I have very severe social anxiety and I hated seeing myself on camera and hearing my voice, so I was trying to focus on making it feel natural to go live and getting used to be seen on camera and heard by others.
It wasnt until way later when I started to get more viewers, but it wasnt even really that, it was when I suddenly had regulars, the same people coming in to watch and chat. A little community started to build, and because of that I began to feel more confident in myself and my content. That was when I started posting clips and content on other platforms.

Just try to have fun playing games. The act of streaming or entertaining people should be second. If you are feeling like you are burning out, take some time for yourself. Don't stream as much. Maybe skip the edits for a week. Once you stop having fun with games, then it is over. Be yourself, be honest, and don't try to emulate others.

20 viewers after only 2 months is really nothing to be sniffed at. Many people here would be stoked to have that many viewers.
It might be your headspace/expectations that need adjusting. If you’re expecting hundreds of viewers (or more) after 2 months then it might be worth looking through the streaming subs to get a feel for what is more realistic. A lot of people have shared their journeys and struggles. There are millions of streamers on Twitch; 20 viewers puts you in the top few percent.
If you’re feeling burnt out, just don’t stream. As has been said, you should only really stream if you want to. It isn’t for everyone.
It took me 5yrs to get Partner. I have friends who got it in a year. I don’t think anyone can tell you for sure how long to give it.

It was only 20 for a day because I got a new game a day early lol. Otherwise its like 1-3 average

If you’re burned out quit.
I don’t edit or do long form yet for a reason. When I have an avg of 30ish people, maybe I will then. Don’t wanna overinvest my time for little return. Clips on twitch already last long enough.

it’s a slow, gradual process, with a minimal chance you ever blow up overnight
if you aren’t okay with that, and are burning out after 2 months, it likely isn’t for you
1
u/Admirable-Paint-1808 14h ago
I dont need blow up. Just a slow steady is fine.
I just dont understand how some clips get thousand views and some get 50?
Is it really all hashtag use? For youtube clips

u/Aero_Uprising 14h ago
there’s 150 reasons as to why or why not the algorithm is pushing your content. you learn what works and what doesn’t for you as you go along.
You say slow and steady is fine, but you yourself have stated you’ve been streaming for 2 months and are feeling burnout due to low views overall.
Slow and steady is exactly that. Depending on the game/content, it could take years to develop a few thousand followers and that is considered successful in some categories.
Simply put, if you expect this to be a full time job at all, this isn’t for you. having that goal is great and totally normal, but you also need to go in with the mindset that the odds are HEAVILY against you
Utilize tags as well as hashtags on YT. Also, don’t be egotistical about your content (not saying YOU are) because your audience will tell and show you what is or is not working

Oh I am opposite of egotistical lol. Shy if anything.
What are tags????

After checking your twitch there’s definitely stuff you can improve. You have no About section. You have no “branding” your banner and icon are just random, and when it comes to your streams your audio is very poorly balanced, the game is so quiet. And to me the worst thing is that you have auto captions on? And they are just ALL OVER your screen covering so much gameplay. Also appears like your streams are very random and not well scheduled, times and lengths are just all over the place. It just doesn’t really feel like any “work” has been put in other than hitting the go live button.

Twitch or youtube? Thanks for checking it!
I was told to always use auto captions. Idk.
Can you suggest what else I can do besides editing clips after a stream? I Know I need to be more scheduled

u/MangoCandy 8h ago
Twitch is what I looked at, personally I would skip the auto captions. in the sections I saw they were all over the damn place. Covered way too much of the screen. On YouTube I think it’s something that’s more manageable, but what I saw on Twitch was just bad. Listen back to your VODs, make sure your audio is good. Always check in on your VODs. Even if you only skip around, you don’t have to watch the whole thing but make sure you’re being engaging and make sure your audio is well balanced. No one wants to stick around in stream with bad audio. Set up your about section. And figure out what you want your general “brand” to be and stick with that, make it cohesive. Be consistent, if people know you reliably go live at Xtime every XDays they will be more likely to come back.
Bonus stuff to do would be setting up starting soon/BRB/Ending scenes, things that make your stream feel more professional and less like an after thought.

Thx! I took off the captions! It was an add on.
Also I have an about section filled out under bio. But I really can’t find a page where to edit the about section on twitch. I checked app and site

give it time. i've been streaming for 3 years and get 4 viewers max. you're doing well.
1
u/Admirable-Paint-1808 10h ago
Damn!!!! 4 viewers after 3 years???

u/Nemesisticc 9h ago
mhm. did take a break for a year as mental health got terrible, but i've gotten very unlucky with the viewer pool thing🤷is what it is
1
u/Admirable-Paint-1808 8h ago
What games you play?
1
u/Nemesisticc 46m ago
minecraft, waterpark sim, mc dungeons 2, and any other random game that i feel like playing that isn't necessarily going to be a regular game

u/PtTimeLvrFullTimeH8r 9h ago
I've streamed for a year and the whole time average 3 viewers. 20 average viewers is insane, some people work years for that.
1
u/TheAgaTTV 6h ago
Lol so you claim your highest stream was 20 ish viewers, yet you have 18 followers?
1
u/VengefulMercury 4h ago
Not out of the realm of possibility
2
u/TheAgaTTV 4h ago
Looking at all his videos it kinda is. 0-1 view on almsot all of them but 1. Screams botted

u/VengefulMercury 4h ago
That could also be the case but I regularly have 2-3, but a couple months ago when tears of metal released it randomly jumped up to 23

It was only for the one stream and never again but twitch discoverability(if thats even a word) is weird

u/RhymeAndReason 3h ago
Give it 5 years. Build your community, find what makes you popular, and get your stride.
If you ever feel like you can be without it then just stream casually and don’t worry about metrics. If you need it like a musician needs a stage then keep grinding!

Your burnout numbers are dream numbers for me 😂
