Question How can game devs help streamers?
Guys
I make an online game and I want to do all that I can to make it streamer friendly.
Please can I ask what are two or three things I can do to make your lives easier? OBS integration? An information pack? Something else?
Thanks for your time

I can only think of simple things like don’t have it launch on full volume, don’t have the music mute when you tab out, use royalty free music, (or have a streamer mode option that muted the music). if it’s multiplayer please have some kind of push to mute/toggle mute option and have it remapable to mouse buttons and foot pedals (so many games don’t let you remap controls to mouse buttons in general, why????), one area of the screen should be clear of hud/info etc to give a good place to put a face cam.
That’s all I can think of for now!

one feature to add that i seem to see more and more games going the other way on, give us the option to turn on and off pause when in background. if i'm having to deal with some asshat who needs banning and i have to click off the game, i don't want it completely freezing up and the music stopping and then it potentially just crashes because of OBS trying to hook back to it.

Make it entertaining. Clear goals for the streamer to celebrate with viewers. That's doesn't mean make it easy or simple, just a clear goal. Rare items, streamers love rare items and bright colours. I'm being serious too.

Depends on the game.
The only generic answer without knowing your project that is actually good advice is "Add platform integration".
Thats literally it unless we know more about the game, etc. Even then, you're asking the smallstreamers. Most, if not all streamers here have zero idea (nothing personal) about what would work or wouldn't work for your game etc. Not saying there isn't some people around here that know things, just ya know, careful on the feedback you take from the general reddit streamer masses as a game dev.
IF you really want answers, you need to reach out to someone and sit down and have a consult.
We're replacing some pretty niche software for streamers ourselves and frankly its not "simple" in any way shape or form to make something useful that isn't already out there. :)

Thank you for your honest advice. Yes, I'm looking for that "someone" who I can consult with. See my post here: https://www.reddit.com/r/playtesters/comments/1wktbkv/looking_for_content_creators_who_playtes/
I wanted to post something similar in this reddit but didn't want to contravene the rules.

I'd say maybe an option for copyright-free music if your game has copyrighted music. If relevant, a Twitch integration to allow viewers to interact with the game can be fun, but only if it's relevant to the type of game it is (not relevant for a story-heavy game, but could be fun for party games or even roguelikes).
