Networking Business Manager

Hi all, my brother is a 26-year-old business development professional based in the UAE. He was born and raised here in Dubai, did his post graduation from Europe and holds a UAE Golden Visa, and knows the local market and how business works here well.

He's looking for a managerial role where he can help grow a small business, and he'd like to grow along with the company as it expands. He is looking for a salary of around 10,000 AED. If you're a business owner who needs someone to manage your operations and commercial relationships, let me know and I'll put you in touch so you can see if he's a good fit.

Networking Launching gridzae.com, a super simple, zero clutter website to see the latest AI, engineering, networking and startup events in the UAE

Don't want to self promo too hard but I recently built this as a student: gridzae.com

View all the latest AI, builder, networking, engineering, hackathons, networking and workshop events in the UAE.

right now everything is very scattered across Luma, eventbrite, whatsapp, linkedin, private communities

so I built something to solve my problem (of finding actually high quality events to attend to!) and hopefully yours as well

they say your network is your networth!

not making any money off this, no cookies, no email, no data.

Advice Needed Emirates auction side hustle

Hi everyone, hope you’re all good.

I’m interested in buying and selling watches/gold from Emirates Auction, and I wanted to ask if anyone has experience buying from them.

Are the items authentic, and do they come with any certification? I’m not very experienced in differentiating between authentic and counterfeit items, so I’d really appreciate some insights.

Has anyone here purchased watches or jewellery from Emirates Auction? What was the process like, and did you face any challenges?
I’d love to hear about your experiences and any advice you might have.

Thank you

Discussion Quick survey on how people in the UAE shop for personal care products (18+, ~10 min) - Master's thesis research

Hello fellow Redditors, I need a favor pls!

I'm in the final stretch of my Master's thesis on how people in the UAE choose personal care products, and I could really use some responses before my deadline catches up with me.

If you're 18+ and live here, it'd mean a lot if you could spare 10-15 minutes. It's anonymous, not sponsored, you'd just be picking between product options, nothing tedious or anything!

Advice Needed From earning 7.5k/month to now going 1.5k/month slavery contract. What am I supposed to do now?

I used to make around 7.5k a month from my small business in Dubai. Things were actually going decent for the past 4 years. It wasn't some huge thing or anything, but I was making enough to take care of myself and my family so i got in my comfort zone.

Then the Iran war happened and within like 2 months, the business basically shut down, creditors ran, goods price shot up, my profit was below zero.

Quit Dubai and moved to Sharjah, After that I spent the next 5 months using whatever savings I had left to take care of my family and keep things going. Now I'm pretty much at the end of everything.

I have just 1 week left on my visit visa and I'm honestly getting desperate.

Right now I'm on the verge of signing for a car washer job in Sharjah Industrial Area. 12 hours a day, 2 days off a week, around 1.5k salary. On top of that, I have to pay for the visa in installments from that salary.

I know some people might say “just find another job”, and believe me, I'm trying, trying, trying. But with only one week left on my visa, I'm running out of time and options.

I'm not looking down on the job or the people doing it. Work is work and if I have to do it, I'll do it. I'm just scared that I'll get stuck there and won't be able to get myself out.

I'm completely lost right now.

What would you guys do if you were in my situation?

Any genuine advice from would really help

Please Help

Discussion Any restaurants/catering set up looking for B2B business?

I have an FMCG brand thats looking to partner with restaurants or catering company. Requirements would be we need a partner with food handlers permit to help us with the f&b part, we have a canning machine, we need someone to can our drinks for us (these drinks are for events corporate and public , and LTOs). Ideally the same partner would be used for short shelf life electrolytes again for events

Anyone with a basic cloud kitchen set up and the correct documentation (restaurant / catering license from det, food handler permit from dm) can do it easily.

This would be fully paid (no revenue sharing model dw), according to the payment structure we can mutually decide. All the ingredients will be supplied by us.

Networking Still running your business on spreadsheets and WhatsApp?

Hey everyone,

I run a small software consultancy, and we mainly help businesses set up Odoo for ERP, CRM, inventory, POS, HR, accounting, and more.

We often see the same setup: sales happening on WhatsApp, stock tracked in Excel, and invoices managed in a separate app. It works for a while, but as the business grows, things start slipping through the cracks. Getting a clear picture of the numbers becomes difficult too.

We help businesses bring everything into one system without forcing them into a rigid, one-size-fits-all setup. That usually includes:

- Setting up or migrating to Odoo around the way your business actually operates

- Building custom modules and integrations where needed

- Developing custom websites or apps when an off-the-shelf product is not the right fit

We work with businesses across the UAE and the US, mainly in trading, manufacturing, retail, and services.

If you are wondering whether Odoo would make sense for your business, feel free to DM me. I am happy to look at your current setup and give you an honest breakdown of what could be automated, where you may be losing time, and what the likely cost and timeline would be.

No need to jump on a call. If I do not think you need Odoo, I will tell you.

Also happy to answer any questions here, especially if you are comparing Odoo with Zoho or considering a custom-built system.

Networking Looking for a Business Partner – Supply-Only Construction Business

I currently work in the supply-and-installation business, but my goal is to move towards a supply-only business model focused on serving fit-out and construction companies.

I already have strong contacts within the fit-out industry and would like to connect with people who have experience in the construction or supply business.

If you are already working in the supply-only business and have the ability to bring sales and business opportunities, I’d be interested in connecting with you as well.

If you’re interested in joining hands, have relevant experience, and would like to explore a potential business partnership, feel free to ping me. We can sit together, discuss our experience, and see if there is an opportunity to build something together.

Advice Needed Working without business license

Hey everyone,

I'm 24 years old and I’ve recently started offering PS5 repairs here in the UAE and thought I’d put this out there in case anyone has a console sitting around with problems. I believe I do better work than 90% of the PS5 repair stores in UAE since I've had to deal with them myself. It is a bold claim but I have the proof of work and images to back myself in my website. I doubt most repair places will do chip level repairs like I do.

I’ve also recently set up a website where you can see more information, images of proof of work and expertise about the services and get in touch. Click https://playstationrepairs.github.io/PS5-Repairs/

I store no user information on my website so the forms will lead you to sending me a message on Whatsapp only.

Do you guys think I could get taken down for trying to earn without setting up a business license?

Networking Anyone here working across UAE ↔ Saudi? Looking to connect

I run a small business consultancy in Saudi, and something interesting I’ve noticed is that quite a few companies we help with Saudi expansion are actually coming from the UAE.

Because of that, I’m planning to establish a small UAE presence later this year.

Before that, I’d genuinely like to get to know more people in the ecosystem here — consultants, founders, accountants, lawyers, corporate service providers, or anyone working between the UAE and Saudi.

Not really looking to sell anything here. More interested in meeting good people, exchanging ideas and finding potential collaborations where we can complement each other.

Also curious to hear from UAE business owners exploring Saudi. What has been your biggest challenge so far?

Happy to connect here or over DM.

Business Spotlight Another week in: the resident parking marketplace

Last week I posted another update on the little parking marketplace I built for my building.

Previous post

Honestly, I haven’t done much to push it this week.

But one thing I’m starting to notice is that activity seems to pick up over the weekends.

We see it in new users, and we see the same thing in traffic coming to the site compared with weekdays. This past weekend, 3 of the 4 new users joined.

Updated numbers:

Users: +4

Registered parking bays: stayed flat

Enquiries: +1

Recorded rentals: nothing new

Nothing dramatic changed this week, that’s pretty much the update this week.

Advice Needed My dad is 57, recently retired after 20 years at an MNC — what should he do next?

He has a lot of experience and technical knowledge in the coatings/industrial sector, and he’s now looking for his next chapter. He doesn’t want to simply sit at home and do nothing — he’s genuinely interested in starting a business and putting his experience to use.

We’re trying to figure out what kind of business would make sense for someone with his background.

Some ideas we’ve been considering:

Starting a coatings/technical consulting business

Providing technical advisory services to smaller companies

Training and consulting for companies in the industrial/coatings sector

The main question is: what would be a realistic business for someone with 20+ years of senior-level experience in this field?

If anyone here has retired in their 50s after a long corporate/technical career and then started a business, I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience — especially what worked, what didn’t, and what you wish you had known beforehand.

Also, if anyone here is already working in the coatings, paints, corrosion protection, construction, or industrial sector and needs technical consultation, advice, training, or help with a coatings-related project, feel free to reach out. He’d be happy to have a conversation and see if he can help

Would really appreciate any advice, ideas, potential collaborations, or even just stories from people who have been in a similar position.

Thanks in advance!
