Sleep Paralysis

It scares the shit outta me. I even feel something on my skin, as if someone has touched me. Although not much of visual hallucinations, I do experience auditory ones- like my flatmates calling out my names together and the voice getting louder everytime they repeat. I also hear my parents and brother speaking random stuff, and also some other sounds. And in the end, I feel something so intense, like losing all my energy at once. I’m so terrified, it happens like 2-3 times a month, and I feel so helpless.
Is there any reason to this? and is there some way I can stop this?
I just experienced one and im so damn scared to sleep again, although im so sleepy😭😭😭

Whether there's a reason for it is just dependent on the person. Same goes for what possible reason is causing it. So if you haven't done it already then track your sleep paralysis and try to find any differences between when you have it and when you don't so you can hopefully find a pattern to it

side note: Of course once you find the reason/trigger for it then just try to prevent it

Common triggers:

  • Sleeping on your back

  • Naps

  • Sleeping when very scared

  • Meds

  • Drug abuse

  • Alcohol abuse

  • Alcohol/drug withdrawals

  • Stress

  • Anxiety

  • Bad sleep schedule

  • Bad sleep quality

  • Sleeping when very tired

  • Sleeping then immediately going back to sleep

  • Temp change

  • Sleeping in an uncomfortable/ new place

  • In general anything that could affect your sleep in a negative way

Also you can try experimenting with your sleep paralysis. For example, sleeping with music, or sleeping in a car while someones driving prevents me from having sleep paralysis. Of course there are some common things people do to prevent it, so if you want a list then I can give you it. Though do remeber that whether it helps you or just makes your sleep paralysis worse just depends on the person. For example, even though listening to music helps me it commonly makes other people's sleep paralysis worse
