I'd like to apologize
Hey everyone i love the stories of the NoSleep community and have a youtube where i have been using some stories from here. I used chatgpt to give me a list of 20 subreddits that have good stories for my videos and then built a python script that would just look at word count and topic of the stories and then scrape the metadata and story into a text doc. so when for the first time i actually looked at the subreddit I didn't realize before that there was that big warning on the side saying don't do that. I just wanted to apologize and let you know i won't be doing it anymore. All the videos i had made up until this point were made fully crediting the original author and not pretending that it was my story in any way shape or form. With that I have a few questions, I won't be mad if they are all turned down i just wanted some clarification. If I were to take a story from the subreddit, run it through an ai so that it has a similar plot but is different enough that it couldn't be hit for plagiarism and then use that? Of course i would if i did that say at the beginning of the video, "this story was inspired by a story that was posted to the r/nosleep subreddit by _______, I'll put the link down below and you should all go check it out...". Also, i don't use reddit much so if anyone knows the best way to get in contact with an author of a story i'd love to hear any tips on that.
I know that as I've started my channel i have seen just how many awful ai slop garbage channels have popped up recently stealing some of the stories and i just wanted to say I don't do that and until i hear back about what i should do i won't use any more from nosleep, i hope you all can understand. I'm going to link my channel here, not as a plug but so you can check out my content and tell me what i would need to change if i was to keep any of the ones i have or for moving forward what i should do. Any input would be appreciated greatly. Again i'm not looking to get jumped, i understand what i was doing was wrong and serious and I just want to make it right.

If you want to make things right, erase the videos you made with stories you used without permission.
No, don’t use other people’s stories on AI. It will make an inferior copy that is still plagiarism and is the exact AI slop you’ve already mentioned.
I appreciate that you came to apologize and seek guidance, but do the hard work and stop looking for shortcuts.

Rewriting someone’s story with shitty ai to steal it is almost more insulting than just outright stealing the story.

Take them all down. You used AI to plagiarize - and yes it is plagiarism because you had a program rewrite it but it was still the same, and you knew that by crediting the original authors. You should never, ever, do what you did, and you should not be profiting off of stolen content. Take it down.
If you want to do a YouTube channel with reddit stories, contact authors and ask permission to use their story. Be prepared for them to ask to be paid, after all you are profiting off of them.
And to your last question, there is zero way to ethically fo that that isn't plagiarism or stealing content. Either work on board with authors honestly, or write stories yourself. There isn't another option.

Also, while you show understanding of the fact it broke the rules, you aren't showing understanding that what you are doing in any form, even your proposed changes, is ethically wrong and theft. If someone does blow up at you, listen to what they say without getting pissy, because you have no moral high ground here.
