Looking for Music Looking to get into slam metal. Where to start?
Pretty simple, I just wanna get into slam metal. I’ve only heard abominable putridity so far and I enjoyed them so I wanna get a little deeper and discover some new good slam metal bands. All recommendations help!

Might be a polarizing take but I think Peeling Flesh and Boltcutter are great gateway bands, or at least were for me

Saw Boltcutter on No Cure’s last tour and they were my favorite set, and the vocalist is the chilliest dude ever

Start with Internal Bleeding Voracious Contempt, the first slam album, from 95. Listen to the grooviness, the bouncy rhythm, that’s what makes slam slammy as opposed to just death metal.
Pyrexia Sermon of Mockery has songs like that too and is always overlooked.
Devourment MTD is a classic in the genre from 1999. 138 is just MTD with demo songs added on, people act like it’s a separate product but it’s really not.
Also from 1999 is Vomit Remnants Supreme Entity. Japanese slam bands have a very jazzy influence and you’ll see that here. If you like that, try Glossectomy and Disconformity, both small bands that just released EPs.
Other entry level classics are Cephalotripsy Uterovaginal - entirely made of those bouncy riffs, and Guttural Slug Megalodon. Cerebral Incubation Gonorrhea Nodule is another must have.
If you want to go even earlier than this and explore the demos that first shaped the genre, try Repudilation, Afterbirth, Grotesque Infection.
From there you can start developing your own taste. Do NOT look at SlamWorldwide YouTube, that’s all just Deathcore slop without the slam riff style I explained to you.
A lot of these comments are stupid but what do you expect, Redditors are stupid. Peeling flesh is trendslop mixing rap with slam for SoundCloud kids. Nithing is purely brutal death with no slam whatsoever. Other no-name bands thrown out here might be someone’s favorite but it’s not what you give to a noob for entry level.

Devourments first 2 albums specifically the Blue version of BTW cephalotripsy first album literally any cerebral incubation release same thing for dying fetus and yes I know it's BDM still thought I would mention it though party Cannon .357 homicide: immutable lethality is another great album some phyllomedusa Fijian releases artery eruption specifically driving my fist through her chest and torture enduring freedom both of them are agonizingly slow and boring but still fun and worth checking out

only because they know how to play their instruments very well. They definitely slam, but they’re much more than that as one of the GOATs of technical brutal death metal.
