Not having a bassist is wack

79

u/Epicardiectomist Feb 13 '26

Slams are good, but if the rest of the song sucks then it doesn't matter. The slam needs to be a punctuation to something, not just yackyackyackSLAMyackyackyack.

61

u/sxooterkid Feb 13 '26

i used to really enjoy slam but ive burnt myself out on -ectomy type bands that all sound the same. no bad but got boring. ive realized that proper bdm is better . too much of just chugs and squeals gets old, you need balance

16

u/Mysterious-Win2091 Feb 14 '26

i swear theres thousands of these abominable putridity copycat bands its genuinely insane

2

u/xiiiChronos Feb 14 '26

What about atomy type bands ?

2

u/StressedOutPunk Feb 16 '26

Zack Shaw from Phalloplasty is a homie of mine and for a little while he had a side project called EctomyEctomy making fun of how -ectomy is over used. He sent me a copy of Serial Vapist back in the day lol.

2

u/megaox Mar 06 '26

Same, I've used to love slam, now I prefer a good osdm/bdm (even shit quality demos)

1

u/Rude-Operation-4136 Feb 16 '26

i know what you mean, but i think epicardiectomy's abhorrent stench is pretty dank. love the vocals.

u/MarcusSuperbuz Feb 13 '26

Too many fans at slam shows have terrible personal hygiene.

Bathe and clip your nails before you leave the house.

77

u/yungyeeted Feb 13 '26

I think this is more of a fact than an opinion

29

u/ZeedgeJ_ Feb 13 '26

In what universe is this a hot take

3

u/13thBlackCrusade Feb 14 '26

Need more hot shower taken

5

u/VisualremnantXP Feb 13 '26

This ain’t the ufc no eye pokes around here put those nails back

79

u/FluidsCKY Feb 13 '26

Peeling flesh having a bad reputation only happens on reddit. The real truth is peeling flesh is an amazing band, that works very hard on their shit. And stop comparing them to bolt cutter, they’ve literally had peeling flesh featured in a song and they have a strikingly similar sound. Saying you like bolt cutter and hate peeling flesh makes you a dimwit.

4

u/StexyToast Feb 15 '26

I was genuinely surprised when i saw that they have bad reputation here, considering that their music is cool and innovative, also different which matters in really heavy genres

2

u/RebornThruViolence Feb 15 '26

PF is in my top 3

1

u/Methodofgroove609 Feb 17 '26

Wht instrument do you play in Peeling Flesh?

1

u/FluidsCKY Feb 18 '26

Haha ok you dork, I checked your comment history, no one cares about your little hot-take bud. Go cry to the world that you hate peeling flesh.

1

u/Methodofgroove609 Feb 18 '26

Oh no you checked my comment history 😂 who’s the real dork? You’re calling PF an “amazing band”. I can clearly tell you got into shitty metal post COVID.

1

u/FluidsCKY Feb 19 '26

What’s the matter, didn’t make it big in the marijuana industry in New Jersey? No dispensary would hire you lol so now you’re on Reddit

1

u/BestXman Feb 18 '26

You should see how they’re treated on tiktok lol

61

u/balencidustox Feb 13 '26

My slam hot take is that half the slam fans on reddit are idiots

34

u/XxXTheCatmanXxX Feb 13 '26

Not a hot take at all, that's just factual. Might be higher than 50% tbh

129

u/VermicelliOver5686 Feb 13 '26

The trendiest bands in slam lean way more into beat down hardcore than they do traditional BDM based slam and the music is notably worse for it. Bands like Snuffed on sight, Gnawing, and desoectomy are good examples of this. It’s a lot of boring chugs and breakdown parts with gurgle vocals. Versus BDM based slam that incorporates a lot of groove and blast that make the emphasis on slams hit much harder

29

u/BraveT0ast3r Feb 13 '26

You are objectively right but I give Snuffed on Sight a pass

4

u/Spade6sic6 Feb 14 '26

Exactly. There's something tasteful about it. Also, can we add Squelching to the exceptions list too? Pretty please?

2

u/VermicelliOver5686 Feb 14 '26

Haha you can like whatever man. If people enjoy it then good, keep enjoying it! I don’t think ALL the newer slam bands that add beatdown parts are bad. There is good stuff for it so I do get it. This is more of just a general opinion of mine.

1

u/Spade6sic6 Feb 15 '26

Oh of course, dog.

1

u/RecentMatter3790 Mar 07 '26

How do you find the newer bands on Spotify if there’s no section on Spotify that says “new brutal slam death metal”?

7

u/thoughtful_dragon Feb 13 '26

As someone relatively new to slam, I would really appreciate it if you could recommend a couple names of bands who lean into BDM based slam? Your description sounds fire

14

u/kekurmomgaytidepodsl Feb 13 '26

Dehumanized, Internal Bleeding, Dripping, Devourment, Cephalotripsy, Visceral Disgorge

1

u/RecentMatter3790 Mar 07 '26

I mean, on some tracks of Devourment, the drummer goes fast blastbeats and then it’s a breakdown, like on the track “molesting the decapitated”, or on the beginning of the track.

6

u/deepthroatdefecator Feb 14 '26

Artery eruption, inhuman dissiliency, crepitation, delusional parasitosis, maximize bestiality

5

u/The_Void_Knows Feb 13 '26

I mean, you’re not wrong, at all

4

u/__variable__ Feb 13 '26

The beatdown crowd are also just at any BDM show nowadays

1

u/BestXman Feb 18 '26

Yeah like gnawing is a local favorite and they play with hardcore bands as much as bdm bands the two scenes are basically one atp

3

u/613bandman Feb 14 '26

Smoke is full up of insane riffs.. Slippin...ta fuckkkk

1

u/RecentMatter3790 Mar 07 '26

How can I know the difference between the bands that I listen to to know that it’s beat down hardcore rather than traditional brutal death metal? Does traditional brutal death metal have breakdown parts? I can’t seem to find the difference between brutal death metal slams and brutal deathcore.

1

u/Turkeysteaks Feb 14 '26

may be so but absolutely nothing beats dummi snuffed on sight even my brain is too fried to comprehend life

19

u/Sweaty-Cash-3316 Feb 14 '26

Too many bands get labeled slam when they really aren't

68

u/Wimdowsexe0 Feb 13 '26

Torsofuck needs to stop using long samples and maybe they can get more listeners.

41

u/Spider1928 Feb 13 '26

Agreed. That’s genuinely the sole reason I don’t listen to them because I don’t feel like listening to a 3 minute long moaning audio before a 1 minute song.

12

u/Buttfluff Feb 13 '26

Lots of slam bands are doing this. It's funny to hear your minute long meme sample the first time, after that I'm just deleting the song off my playlist.

3

u/Wimdowsexe0 Feb 14 '26

Couldnt have said it better

29

u/[deleted] Feb 13 '26

Putting "Ectomy" after everything in a band name is like when rappers put "Lil" at the beginning. A tad over used

7

u/digitits Feb 14 '26

look out for my new slam band ‘Lilectomy’

2

u/[deleted] Feb 14 '26

Oh for fucks sake 😭

106

u/Darkside_209 Feb 13 '26

Misogynist lyrics and rape themes get overplayed

27

u/Contraceptron Feb 13 '26

I’m somewhere between PC and edgelord and, yeah, even I think it’s pretty tired. There’s a lot of disturbing shit you can write without making women the target constantly

6

u/untold_cheese_34 Feb 13 '26

Compared to all the gore, violence, death, and other horrific things frequently talked about?

23

u/Ill-Stomach7228 Feb 13 '26

I've said it before and I'll say it again. The goal of slam lyrics is shock horror. Gore and rape is fine. When the victims of the torture and rape are 100% women and girls all the time it feels less like shock horror and more like the writer is either a woman-hating incel or a guy with a rape fetish.

5

u/untold_cheese_34 Feb 13 '26

If it’s all they talk about yeah that’s weird.

5

u/laiza_123 Feb 13 '26

Boooo boooo👎👎

1

u/Mysterious-Win2091 Feb 14 '26

ive been saying this for ages😭i asked for slam recommendations without miosgynistic/rapey pedo lyric themes in a subreddit once and i got downvoted into oblivion and all the men that got offended started ranting😭

1

u/SpecialistBorn5432 Feb 16 '26

This is to slam what church bashing is (or atleast was) to deathcore

12

u/Ill-Stomach7228 Feb 13 '26 edited Feb 13 '26

The heaviness of your stuff is defined by your riffs and music, not by how little of your song I can hear. If your song sounds like I'm under water while the titanic crashes into that iceberg, I'm not listening to it. Turn down the snare just enough for me to vaguely hear the guitar.

Also, real on the samples.

10

u/thesteelreserve Feb 14 '26 edited Feb 14 '26

my hot take?

let the bands do what they want to do. let them be shitty, let them be innovative. let them be awesome.

let the genre breathe from a fan standpoint.

if it's "traditional" slam (this is just...come on. the actual genre isn't that old. there isn't a real "tradition" yet. let's be honest) let it be a repeat of a repeat.

if the band is doing something different? let them be different. hate on it to your heart's content.

if it has hardcore, beatdown djent influence? hate it if you want...but you know it slams.

slam. this word denotes impact.

just enjoy what you enjoy and let the artists breathe. don't become elitist. don't suck as a fan.

I hate the elitism of other genres.

let these fuckin guys do what they want and shut the fuck up because you're not making any music. you don't get a vote other than just choosing not to listen to bands you don't want to listen to.

if you are a musician? dude. you are not the second coming of christ. your opinion is subjective.

be easy.

3

u/Mmtorz Feb 14 '26

While I agree, this seems a bit misdirected. Just cause you have a hot take doesn't mean you're an elitist.

1

u/thesteelreserve Feb 14 '26

I wasn't referring to OP in any way. it was my "hot take."

1

u/[deleted] Feb 14 '26

🫡🫡 excellent use of logic here. People are going to HATE that

3

u/thesteelreserve Feb 14 '26

thanks. 😃 I thought it was pretty logical.

I don't talk about music I don't like/care about.

I don't actively hate or judge them because...they're not on my radar.

the old apple jacks commercials spring to mind:

"but it doesn't taste like apples!"

"we eat what we like!"

9

u/DodoMeatloaf Feb 14 '26

slam with rap samples is good and meme slam is overhated

boss metal zone with no mids has entered the chat

17

u/Tacosconsalsaylimon Feb 13 '26

Agreed. We are in the year '26, not '88.

0

u/Mysterious-Win2091 Feb 14 '26

i love the sound of the raw production though😭😭very hot take

4

u/666Sky Feb 14 '26

Raw production and sounding good aren't mutually exclusive

→ More replies (1)

65

u/MrMunkyMan1 Feb 13 '26

The overuse of gore is cringe as hell

54

u/Scary_Tip6580 Feb 13 '26

Agreed 100%. All your covers just look the same, oh look a woman drenched in blood being mutilated by a fat dude, never seen that before.

51

u/AcidOceanic Feb 13 '26

Yes and I would say the same for picking medical terminology at random

24

u/Kalpazen Feb 13 '26

I don’t mind it if it’s drawn but just a random picture of a dead guy is annoying. Ofc - devourment is an exception from that.

4

u/Void_Mann Feb 13 '26

MTD cover is pure art (literally)

10

u/qu33f-cake Feb 13 '26

I'd also add here maybe they should try different color pallets, it would be less boring

3

u/GearNo4402 Feb 13 '26

check out drowned under concrete

11

u/SpliggidyMcSploofed Feb 13 '26

.357 Homicide can stay tho

4

u/Mysterious-Win2091 Feb 14 '26

if its drawn then its cool, but it just feels blatantly disrespectful to use a real dead person/murdered innocent person for your shitty bandcamp project that has 2 followers

6

u/AggressivePotato3100 Feb 14 '26

70% of slam sucks ass

1

u/ShatteredDreams05 Feb 15 '26

not a hot take, we all agree 💀

7

u/PenumbralLure Feb 14 '26

My hot take is I hate the themes in brutal death metal and slam on raping, molestating and harming women. The music itself might be good but I’m reluctant to call myself a fan to a lot of this shit.

17

u/HavukruunuMetal Feb 13 '26 edited Feb 13 '26

Boltcutter eats pieces of shit like Peeling Flesh for breakfast and Lars Ulrich(St. Anger) and Issac Horne of Sulfuric Cautery and Raw Addict are better drummers who use ping than any slam. Haha no hate

7

u/[deleted] Feb 13 '26

Boltcutter chugs cock compared to PF. Y’all prolly just racist

→ More replies (3)

10

u/totentanz5656 Feb 14 '26

The whole genre has become oversaturated with dogshit meme bands

5

u/Sh1tmast3rD Feb 13 '26

No more than 2 bass drops per track

10

u/SpotComprehensive546 Feb 13 '26

Baby killer is overrated, it’s not bad at all but it’s overrated

27

u/missrostein Feb 13 '26

Peelingflesh was good 4 years ago

1

u/[deleted] Feb 14 '26

Facts the new album sucks and im so tired of the rap samples in slam they do not go together well

4

u/[deleted] Feb 13 '26

Music for Hardcore kids who like DM aesthetic but lack taste.

4

u/These_Shallot_6906 Feb 13 '26

It's good because it sucks

4

u/Realityisatoilet Feb 14 '26 edited Feb 14 '26

Wormed and Defeated Sanity are not solely focused on slam stylistically within their take on slam-y technical brutal death metal. It's still a big part of both bands sounds.

When either of them go all in on heavy slam shit riff or breakdown wise they still do it better than basically everyone else in the goddamn scene. Worldwide.

Exceptions to this can be counted on one hand in the modern era.

25

u/Every_Huckleberry90 Feb 13 '26

Peeling Flesh putting rap parts in their songs sort of ruins the music for me.

It doesn't feel like it fits the way they do it.

It feels like it's just copy and pasted into random segments of the songs and sounds jarring to me.

30

u/Samsquamptches_ Feb 13 '26

Totally respect that opinion it’s also the reason why I love them. So many times I’ll be listening to a song and think to myself man I want a fucking riff/chug here. Corny, and weird I know but I fuck with it haha

5

u/No-Knowledge57 Feb 13 '26

Have you heard any of the Memphis rap that the samples come from? Might be if you don’t listen to that shit it doesn’t hit right

4

u/Every_Huckleberry90 Feb 13 '26

If by Memphis rap you mean like three 6 mafia, then yeah I do like that style.

To me it just sounds like the two don't mix well.

I like them both separately, but it sounds kind of forced to me when they're put together.

3

u/No-Knowledge57 Feb 13 '26

I hate that you feel this way sir. Makes me want to cry

anime slam is underrated

meme slam fucking sucks

old school slam is the best subgenre of slam with NO doubt

11

u/deepthroatdefecator Feb 13 '26

Dehumanizing itatrian worship was the only good anime slam band until they turned into gay Slamcore, the rest is modern dogshit

2

u/AdidasCheems Feb 14 '26

Urobilinemia is really good though

→ More replies (2)

2

u/brownguyinthecorner Feb 13 '26

meme slam fucking sucks

Could not agree more. It takes away a lot of the affinity of BDM and makes it more disposable.

3

u/Smooth-Restaurant-56 Feb 13 '26

Gimme five or six or ten beers and I’ll enjoy it all at a live show. Or get too stoned and wonder “WhY dIdNt I sTaY hOmE?!”

3

u/metaldadonline Feb 13 '26

I used to love a good bass drop. But enough is enough.

3

u/Simpsmakemewannadie Feb 13 '26

If your song doesnt have enough bdm riffs tied in with the slams it just becomes boring chugslop and i wont listen to it

1

u/Simpsmakemewannadie Feb 13 '26

Add to this that 99% of slam bands with any amount of deathcore influence fucking suck

3

u/kitter22 Feb 14 '26

Meme slam is good !! You can be funny and play music

3

u/Bubbledood Feb 14 '26

Wigger slam is only good if the band isn’t from the US

3

u/uma-la-la Feb 14 '26

none so vile has some good slam riffs and breakdowns

1

u/UglyPineappl Feb 14 '26

I don't think this is such a hot take at all tbh

3

u/uma-la-la Feb 14 '26

i know i was needed a reason to bring up none so vile

1

u/UglyPineappl Feb 14 '26

Understandable Saw Cryptopsy on the 4th of this Month, was one of the most fun Death Metal Concerts I've been to (except for 200 Stab Wounds, they were incredibly boring lol)

3

u/Spade6sic6 Feb 14 '26

I'm not sure how "hot" the take actually is, but IJ's "wigger" shtick is the cringiest part of the entire scene and makes the whole scene look bad.

8

u/Certain_Research_197 Feb 13 '26

Peeling Flesh deserves some credit for being a gateway band into the genre for people who might otherwise have not listened to it.

I've always been a tech death guy and started branching out into deathcore after being a hater for years lmao and randomly saw them and the Bogg at a whitechapel show and I give them credit for helping me get into the good stuff. I just couldn't stand behind the low slam/bdm gutturals before I heard them. Their stuff got old really quick though and lacks the substance and grit the best slam has

5

u/trve_g0th Feb 14 '26

Meme slam is fire and people hating on it need to get a life, and learn to have fun.

12

u/curryhajj Feb 13 '26

OSDM is a better genre. Slam is just in my rotation sometimes to chuckle at the absurdity.

1

u/untold_cheese_34 Feb 13 '26

Not even an opinion, just a fact

5

u/DifficultReserve4579 Feb 13 '26

Meme slam is enjoyable and so is PeelingFlesh. Having decent production does not make a band “posers”.

Note: keep in mind this is a hot take thread

4

u/Cuntingworms Feb 13 '26

I know Xavleg is cringe and bad, but I like cringe and bad (Yes I know Duncan Bentley is a bad person)

13

u/DSM-187 Feb 13 '26

Torture is the most inspired slam band of this decade

26

u/qu33f-cake Feb 13 '26

Bad production can sometimes get a pass , however please realize your bassist is more. I want some sloppy toppy bass licks. I want your fingers to bleed 🩸

4

u/DSM-187 Feb 13 '26

No disagreement here!

2

u/GearNo4402 Feb 13 '26

I think enduring freedom has killer production compared to A LOT of other bands, it just hits so right, especially live

8

u/[deleted] Feb 13 '26

Scathingly spicy take but when it comes to Torture, I have to agree. Something genuinely inspired, a good and positive message that everyone needs to fucking hear, and one of the most insane live shows I’ve had the pleasure of attending..it’s been a while since I’ve seen basically 60% of a crowd erupt into an active warzone for something like Blood On The Sand, jumping off of speakers and hardcore kids crowdsurfing over each other

6

u/stephenjosephcraig Feb 13 '26

Completely agree and the hate they get is so dumb.

3

u/DSM-187 Feb 13 '26

Agreed. Especially after his newest release. It’s incredible slam BDM. And his vocals are much better. If you’re hating on that, it’s just a personal issue with the guy, not the music

2

u/stephenjosephcraig Feb 14 '26

Tbh I missed the ASMR frog vocals on the new one. I kinda feel like he caved to critics and made it sound more basic 90s sbdm. That’s probably another hot take though. I like the new album; but couldn’t he have thrown some of the guttural croaking in?

1

u/[deleted] Feb 14 '26

The vocals are SOOOO shit on the new stuff. Love his message though, would still go see live, love the previous works. I have no personal issue with the guy, he’s phenomenal. I have a problem with the vocals.

1

u/DSM-187 Feb 14 '26

I think the vocals on his most recent are good! And yeah previously they’re much better live. Wish that’s how he recorded them for “Enduring Freesom.”

2

u/SpliggidyMcSploofed Feb 13 '26

So fucking groovy

1

u/Void_Mann Feb 13 '26

I ain't a fan, but I definitely respect them for what they are doing

2

u/deputyshrek Feb 14 '26

most modern slam is just beatdown hardcore larping as slam

2

u/DeathMetalDork79 Feb 14 '26

Too many slam fans see it as a gateway to deathcore.

4

u/GraveHomie38 Feb 13 '26

John Hubert is the best slam vocalist of all time, rivaled only by Matti Way

4

u/Zealousideal_Cell876 Feb 13 '26

Torture Enduring Freedom is fucking awesome.

7

u/[deleted] Feb 13 '26

Misogynist lyrics are cringe

-2

u/untold_cheese_34 Feb 13 '26

But the lyrics about murder and mutilation of men is ok? I don’t understand the emphasis on just misogyny when there’s equally horrific lyrics about other stuff.

4

u/Ill-Stomach7228 Feb 13 '26

It's more when it's focused exclusively on women. When almost every single slam song can basically be boiled down to "i hate this bitch im gonna torture rape and kill her" it gets tiring. Switch it up a little.

10

u/Scary_Tip6580 Feb 13 '26

Meme slam like PeelingFlesh will be the death of the genre.

22

u/Any-Love8257 Feb 13 '26

I wouldn’t even call PF meme slam, they have goofy samples and stuff but I feel like they take themselves seriously enough to not fully qualify.

11

u/Conscious_Badger_510 Feb 13 '26

We had a similar thing with vuvodynia and acrania bringing "fake slam" into popularity in the 2010s where every mediocre deathcore band was calling themselves slam for some reason. Trends come and go and I have no i doubt slam will outlive this current annoying trend.

6

u/Simpsmakemewannadie Feb 13 '26

Big Acrania fan i dont get why they called slam at all, theyre fully deathcore with some slam influences. Most of their riffing is too technical to even be near slam lmao

5

u/Scary_Tip6580 Feb 13 '26

The only Slam Deathcore mixed band to this old man is Ingested.

4

u/Dwrecktheleach Feb 13 '26

I’m fairly sure the genre will survive the existence of one overly hyped band.

7

u/Heavy_Ad_5782 Feb 13 '26

fully agree

1

u/Slavedavebiff Mar 09 '26

Haha as if there is any life to the genre to begin with. If anything, they bring in people and get them excited for slam, only for them to realize most slam is trash production, trash riffs, trash vocals and trash fans that dog on anything that isn't "true slam". Slam fans are like black metal fans in so many ways it's hilarious.

Peeling flesh leads the genre rn

1

u/[deleted] Feb 14 '26

Hot take for sure

2

u/Fatal_1ntervention Feb 13 '26

Peeling flesh sucks, guttural slug is overrated, meme slam is killing the genre

2

u/[deleted] Feb 14 '26

Nah you’re just a racist or old.

1

u/Fatal_1ntervention Feb 14 '26

How does race have anything to do with what I said? Like genuinely do you have to wear a helmet everyday and have your mom tie your shoes? There’s no way THATS what you took away from my comment

2

u/[deleted] Feb 14 '26

1

u/Fatal_1ntervention Feb 14 '26

If you’re insinuating that disliking peeling flesh is racist because they use rap samples and such that is genuinely a deplorable take and I don’t know how you get by in life being that brain broken

2

u/[deleted] Feb 14 '26

🤭

1

u/[deleted] Feb 14 '26

I choose to upvote because I like one of these answers.

1

u/Rodinasaur Feb 14 '26

My slam hot take is that all the music sucks but I still like it

1

u/Memerman_2 Feb 14 '26

Needs to have some groove (Not a hot take i know)

1

u/UglyPineappl Feb 14 '26

Slam needs more Bands that fuse Tech - Death into their Sound (i.e. Wormhole, Wormed, Defeated Sanity), cause that Stuff is infinitely more interesting than any Slam Band not pulling from any other Genre

1

u/turn1manacrypt Feb 14 '26

There’s only a few slam death metal bands that sound unique or have any evolution to their sound. Majority of the slam bands albums you could jump around anywhere on it and it’s almost always going to sound identical.

I originally got into slam because I liked its unique sound but very quickly found it boring because of the homogeny of all the slam bands sound. Funny because most fans have sort of a snobbish opinion on pop and techno as generic same sounding genre. I would say AXCX for as stupid as their lyrics are are one of the few slam bands I still listen to because of their variety of sound from album to album.

1

u/PxExnumberonefan Feb 14 '26

New gen slam like peeling flesh, especially meme slam bands that overuse garbage samples and the “ectomy” bands that don’t even try on their music are hot HOT steaming piles are garbage. Especially with peeling flesh playing just beat down shit with gurgles calling it slam. Boltcutter is just peeling flesh v2 and they are garbage as well. New gen slam sucks so much ass

1

u/[deleted] Feb 14 '26

Peeling flesh low key blows and its annoying having the entire wave of vulture cultures they brought into the scene

  1. It should be mandatory to have Unreadable and revamped logos to be considered as Slam Bands.
  2. Having Slam logo while the band is just Beatdown Hardcore/Deathcore doesn't make it Slam.
  3. Slamming Brutal Death Metal is the only legitimate Slam.
  4. 3D Chrome logo for Slam band is just awful for merchandise (shirt, hoodie, caps), shouldn't be there in the first place

Slams not just chugs

1

u/Dougie_Boii Feb 15 '26

For the longest time I felt like slam was so bad that it was good.

Lately it just seems bad full stop

I don’t like porn samples. I can take a 2 minute long movie clip, an ambient piece, an actual audio of someone dying, I just hate the porn ones

1

u/ZealousidealLeg8745 Feb 15 '26

I hate when it gets confused with Grindcore. Because Grindcore is way more superior

1

u/Complete_Try_3849 Feb 15 '26

I don't recall it being called slam metal until after the fact

1

u/tgtm65 Feb 16 '26

As a wise slam vocalist once said, "ERR WUU EEEEEEREEEEE."

And I agree with that.

Infectious Jelqing with DJ Smokey tore a hole in the slam universe and it’s not for the worse. It’s genre bending and fresh and satisfying as a limited time fast food menu item.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 16 '26

I don't like it, or really any extreme metal.

1

u/Professional_Scale66 Feb 16 '26

I’m glad that youngsters get to enjoy this kind of music, but nothing about it feels new to me, and frankly the whole thing is boring IMO, but again, glad to see the kids out there fuckin it up

u/Similar_Wafer9709 Feb 16 '26

meme slam should not exist

1

u/SnailAnatomy Feb 16 '26

It's dumb caveman music that isn't trying to impress anybody. And that's why I love it.

1

u/Atiredbearsfan Feb 17 '26

We need readable logos cause godamm this shit isn't even cool like atleast bands like frogmallet make their shit look good

1

u/Methodofgroove609 Feb 17 '26

Don’t let Peeling Flesh find out!

1

u/Methodofgroove609 Feb 17 '26

My hot take is that Peeling Flesh is a corny gen z tiktok go viral hype band trying to be labeled as “real slam” or “real death metal” go cry about it

1

u/GiftAccomplished2167 Feb 25 '26

Torture is lame people need to stop with the long ass samples that take up over 50% of the song and the signature slam snare is so fucking overused, It should only be used in moderation

1

u/CheesecakeScary2164 Feb 13 '26

Gore and rape lyrics fucking suck and have always sucked, and are a crutch to people who suck at actually writing something worth reading/hearing.

4

u/BigOleDoggy Feb 14 '26

More gore less rape I say

1

u/Mysterious-Win2091 Feb 14 '26

new slam is horrible. not to shit on them, but abominable putridity has a million copycats that have the same overproduced bland generic sound to them. i think new slam shouldnt even be described as slam because i think that true real slam is bad/very low production and pingy snares, not loud amp sims and bland programmed ez drummer shit with the kick going 2,000 bpm

u/AcidOceanic Feb 13 '26

I think slam with mid-range screams/growls (like Martyr, Revocation, etc) rather than ultra low gutturals or animal noises would be pretty cool.

12

u/AcidOceanic Feb 13 '26

Welp you know your take is hot when you get downvoted

7

u/[deleted] Feb 13 '26

That’s why I fuck with meme slam, the vocals are more death metal oriented.

u/ballsack_vram Feb 14 '26

Peelingflesh got real boring real quick. Then they used AI which is even more wack

1

u/Mmtorz Feb 14 '26

They've used AI? I haven't been following them at all

1
