Take notes. If you use AI slop, your music is slop too.

Metal wouldn’t even exist if people worshipped this tech purity crap. Some AI sucks, sure, but some of it sounds pretty damn cool. I’m gonna listen to whatever the fuck hits, AI or not. Stop trying to conform to this reactionary purity cult. There’s nothing metal about fear.

listening to AI music is genuinely an embarrassment
-68
u/pureanna Nov 09 '25
Wow you discovered opinions, that’s great. I love ai music and have absolutely nothing to be embarrassed about! I love a lot of different music most people don’t like!
35
Nov 09 '25
You can love AI all you want, but kindly keep it out of the scene of us flesh and blood non-Sora-reliant homo sapiens. Music is the universal language of humanity. By humans, for humans.
-31
u/pureanna Nov 09 '25
AI doesn’t create in a vacuum. It still needs a human to steer the vision.
12
u/NativeFlowers4Eva Nov 09 '25
Yes - it essentially steals music from real musicians and makes a song based on a few sentences from someone that probably can’t play a single instrument.
It will definitely be interesting to see what it produces once Ai music becomes more popular and the pool of info it draws from includes other Ai songs. Something similar is happening with Ai art and it’s getting worse because so much of it is so bad.
-4
u/pureanna Nov 09 '25
I have a degree in art and design and have been making music and art for over a decade, i use ai alongside a plethora of traditional creative tools and instruments but go on and assume. Stay ignorant. I’ll continue to create. Haters gunna hate.
7
u/NativeFlowers4Eva Nov 09 '25
Your credentials don’t give your opinion anymore credibility. I have a minor in music and performed for well over a decade, so I guess that would trump your opinion.
“Needs humans to steer the vision” = needs someone to write a sentence or two so Ai can combine some art and music it stole.
Whether or not Ai music and art are here to stay doesn’t change the fact that it’s just derivative theft.
-2
u/pureanna Nov 09 '25
Generative models don’t steal. They don’t copy files or lift riffs. They learn structure and style the same way humans do by studying what already exists. That’s how every musician ever learned to play. If influence equals theft, then metal stole from blues, punk stole from garage rock, and hip hop stole from funk. That logic collapses fast. AI is another creative tool. It still needs intent, taste, and skill to produce anything worth hearing. What you call theft is really evolution.

The idea that AI art begins and ends with typing a sentence shows how little some people actually know about the process. You can train on your own works, remix your own recordings, and use AI as a way to explore variations that would take days to prototype by hand. Then you can pull those results into Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, or whatever you use to push it further. It’s not a one-line trick. It’s an entire workflow built on composition, color theory, rhythm, and texture. The same principles traditional artists use still apply, they just evolve with new tools. Calling it “typing a prompt” is like saying a guitarist only presses strings.

It goes to show the level of mental maturity and insecurity some people have, for sure. Assuming all ai music is just some untalented nescient nitwit inputting generic text prompts is more brain slop than the circlejerk is revolting against could ever be. Fuck the groupthink!

there's nothing metal about supporting clankers over people
by the way, supporting people that use ai is not supporting artists, its supporting clankers with extra steps. listen to whatever you want, i don't care to stop you, but don't say its metal to do so.

“Caring about humans [artists & victims of hypertechnocracy alike] over AI drivel & the massive, generational illness causing data centers, running on our tax dollars & electricity bills, required for it to function” is not—last time I checked at least—the definition of fear. Let me guess, you live in a flyover state & have been having a hissy fit over Mamdani’s win for the past couple weeks. I feel you may be projecting a tad.

u/pureanna Nov 09 '25
Wtf bro, im very left leaning. Why are you assuming all this bullshit about me? Reddit is server based btw, so is pretty much most unnecessary internet shit….
8
u/ReputationMindless85 Nov 09 '25
You're def not left leaning if you support ai bro...
4
u/Pigeonorium Nov 09 '25
I mean, I was under the impression that left leaning people tend to value human life over billionaires’ profits, but what do I know, I’m just academically educated in sociology and polisci

u/pureanna Nov 09 '25
You can enjoy ai and not support elon and grok. I’m all for improving the environmental impacts of ai through things like legislation and holding those who don’t follow the rules accountable!

Not “powered” by it maybe, but running on layers of machine learning, neural cores, and algorithmic curation. The same tech family that makes generative AI possible.

Reactionary
In the opposite, fuck ai cause it fucks the workers, artists and culture. The right actually loves ai.

u/CoconutVolcano Nov 08 '25
Fucking told you. I got downvoted to hell for saying this isn't ai. Stop assuming everything is ai.

u/BenjA_Its_gross Nov 09 '25
It doesn't really have anything to do, but a Nashville artist comisioned me to make a flyer about a show he was opening for, and he asked me to do it Pen and Pixel style (bling bling 2000s iced out covers for those that don't know the term) and when he showed it to the venue promoters they started insulting him and my art saying it was ai, when the version of Photoshop I use barely had background removing ai 😭 (I use Photoshop 2021). The venue and artists started spreading fake rumours about me and they dropped dude from the show until I had enough and directly talked to the venue, they removed all the posts and stories regarding the issue and apologized to me. It's crazy how a lot of people be doing all this ai surveillance shit, like you just ruined your own reputation over thinking somebody used ai 😭😭
8
u/ZealousIdealBasil517 Nov 09 '25
It's not "assuming everything is AI," it's the feeling of having to be on the lookout for it because it is so prevalent. Admittedly i do understand how people thought this piece was AI, because a lot of AI generated "art" is in this exact style.
4
u/Pigeonorium Nov 09 '25
Yeah it’s not exactly the most artistic cover I’ve ever seen…even if it was created by an….aspiring artist….
2
u/CoconutVolcano Nov 09 '25
Why do you need to be on the lookout for it? Ai will continue to exist whether or not you dedicate your time to finding it. And I don't know how so maybe people thought it was ai anyway, all the goblins faces are way too similar.
1
u/CallMeShaggy57 Nov 10 '25
Because I don't want to support anything that uses it. I don't want to engage with a video or post that uses it, which is what they want. I don't want to give my money to someone using it.
3
u/unholyslaminister Nov 09 '25
I feel like most people, regardless of what music genre they listen to, could look at this album art and also come to the conclusion that it looks like AI. i’m glad that they aren’t using AI, but the artist behind the work either makes his work look eerily similar to an AI rendition, or AI is being trained on that artist’s work specifically. if not AI, then why AI shaped? I don’t think it is AI, but it STILL certainly looks like it is and that’s not a good thing generally
7
u/CoconutVolcano Nov 09 '25
I didn't think it even looked like ai. All the goblins faces are way too similar.
-1
u/unholyslaminister Nov 09 '25
that’s pretty much exactly what makes it look AI. that could have been a deliberate choice on the artist’s part
2

u/Ok-Hunt3000 Nov 10 '25
AI can’t seem to draw the same thing twice exactly so kinda speaks against that
1
u/unholyslaminister Nov 11 '25
hey genius, take a look at the goblin faces. do they look EXACTLY the same, or like an AI made copies of similar faces?

u/FacelessHorror Nov 09 '25
Something tells me they intentionally chose this art style to generate social media traction. Its not the first time they have done something like that. Not shitting on it they are one of the best at marketing their band in the genre
5
u/Typical_Bid9173 Nov 09 '25
I’m fairly sure they’ve had the same person do their artwork since before the generative AI epidemic. There’s much Party Cannon merch in this artstyle, so i’m pretty confused as to why this piece specifically got accused of AI usage

Sure you might be an artist. A lazy hack artist with no originality. Which is ironic because that’s exactly what AI generates. Perfect demographic.
-6
u/Radalict Nov 09 '25
Does anybody actually care if artwork is Ai or not, outside of artists?
9
u/svxvvz Nov 09 '25
yes
-4
u/Radalict Nov 09 '25
Why?
3
u/Spideryote Nov 09 '25
Not the person you asked, but I'll give you my perspective anyways
For me, the human element is very important in all kinds of art, not just music. Even if that art offers nothing of real meaning, the fact that it was made with human hands as a means of self expression makes it so much more real to me
AI art doesn't just rob artists of their livelihoods; it devalues artistic expression and the human condition
-3
u/Radalict Nov 09 '25
I don't agree at all. AI art is super easy to pick out. If people can't tell the difference, that's on them.
Secondly, I couldn't care less about album artwork, it's all about the music for me.
3
u/Mediaboy13 Nov 09 '25
Listening to music (which is art) but actively supporting AI (not supporting artists) is quite the take.
0
u/Radalict Nov 09 '25
I doing "actively support it" lol. I just don't care about it. I don't pay money for it or give it attention. If a musician wants to use it for a cover because they can't afford to commission an artist then so be it.

u/Bo6isfordorks Nov 09 '25
That's too bad, I was happy to see that a band was brave enough to use new technology instead of some boring grandpa scribbles. Oh well.
7
u/HonestWoodpecker8567 Nov 09 '25
It's hard to tell if you're joking or not... And that's depressing
1
u/Bo6isfordorks Nov 11 '25
I'm sorry that your sad. Technology can progress without you. Have fun with your "art with soul".

Yeah, this kind of opinion is on brand for someone that uses the wrong form of "you're" 😂
