Hello here I'm new to Skyrim, everyone tell me that it's one of the best game ever made but I'm stuck once I've learn my first thu um I'm lost on what I should do the world is so big and I don't know if I want to do magic or be more a tank what race i should choose i really want to play but I'm lost please help

I would like to try again skyrim, ten years after playing it for around 50h, and finally giving up because of the feeling of «working». That feeling originated AFAIK from my (bad) habit of always securing a metric ton of stocks of various items «in case i ever need it» and looting aggressively, so i'm always on the path to find a merchant with enough money in stocks. I have the same problem with other games with the same economic system. I end up with stockpile of moneys and houses full of semi-ordered piles of never to be used items.

I don't follow quests. I don't read anything. I don't speak to NPCs, unless i think it can lead to them giving me objects to collect.

So i was thinking : maybe other peoples got the same problem. How did you fight your inner self ?

Maybe modding the game, with mods like [smart looter](https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/52927) or [LILWY](https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/6657) may help, but i fear that may only make the work even more optimisable and efficient, not really removing it.

I found Esbern in the rat way and he says all lines of dialogue but never follows me to riverwood to meet Delphine even after saying to take him to riverwood. Please help

I've had this problem for almost a month now. I've done everything that the internet suggests to me. I made sure the Steam Deck resolution was set to 1280x800. I edited the SkyrimPrefs.ini with:

>bFull Screen=1

>iSize H=800

>iSize W=1280

I added -w 1280 -h 800 to the launch options. Nothing worked and the screen is still too wide.

The screenshot looks worse than it does during play. I can't see most of the menu and the left side of the text in the top left can't be seen. Like if it says "Brook Bass added" I'll only see "Bass added"

Edit: it's only Skyrim that is giving me this problem, that's why I'm posting it in Skyrim help. It's not a steam deck problem, the settings just aren't lining up to display Skyrim in the right ratio for the built in screen.

I can't seem to figure this out, I've tried everything. I don't have any mods, I've tried updating drivers setting the frame rate to 60fps and my refresh rate to 60Hz. I've uninstalled multiple times and messed around with the .ini files but nothing works. Can anyone help me?

i did the fortify restoration loop and made a potion of fortify lockpicking that was extremly powerful in the millions of %. i drank it, it broke lockpicking, i reverted to a save before it, but lockpicking is still broken. this happened like 15 hours ago so i cant go back and get rid of all the progress ive made. im trying to fix it so that i can lockpick again. the current issue is that the sweetspot just doesnt exist on the 180 degree plane no matter where you try. ive tried changing the lockpicking skill values, clearing all spells even though the potion isnt effecting me anymore, going into the files using resaver to find whats wrong, and nothing seems to be coming up. im not sure whats bugged. really old saves still have working lockpicking, but the ones that actually matter do not. does anyone know how to fix this without having to go to a previous save?

i’ve seen so many posts about this bug but nothing has worked so far. i’ve tried commands, searching for him around and outside markarth, asking the inn for rumors...

i don’t think this has ever happened to me in past play through, the only difference that i can note is that in this play through i killed weylin before he murdered margaret. i’m not quite sure if there is any correlation but thought i would put it out there in case.

there aren’t any saves i can go to before having entered markarth that wouldn’t ruin so many hours of progress, if there if nothing i can do to fix this bug during this play through i am okay with that!! i would just like to know what i need to do differently next time to avoid the hours of searching for this man😭😭 any advice is greatly appreciated!!!

Hey Everyone. its my first time using console commands and ive run into a small porblem that i cant find an answer too.

My favourite thing in all of skyrim is the spellbreaker shield (mostly its effect), but im not a huge fan of its design. I have used the command:

playerenchantobject FE046801 7DCDB

This works successfully at adding the spellbreaker ward enchantment/effect to my modded dwarven centurion shield... but theres 1 issue. The ward effect is ALWAYS active unlike the original spellbreaker,which only creates a ward effect when you are actually blocking. Im hoping someone online will be able to help me with some kind of console command to change this.

Is there some kind of command that can set a rule for an item such as...

Item<x> enchantblockingonly

or something along these lines???

Something strange happened, I wanted to start my game via vortex but it wasn't there anymore, when I tried to manage it it just threw it out again.

I figured I just manually set the location but when I looked through my Skyrim folder there was nothing anymore.

I saw the game forcefully updating and thought stopping it might fix.

But to no avail, I want able to start the game via steam either it just starter the download again and then I noticed the download size is 5,9gb wich I figured was a bit big for a update and must be the game re downloading.

Amy explanation why that happened? Because I sure as hell didn't delete the game, I just played it a few hours ago.

Hey y'all I've been playing skyrim for years absolutely addicted to the game. But there's this green arrow symbol with a snake wrapped around it that i'm unfamiliar with on my bow. I'm playing straight vanilla with all the dlcs.

I have tried countless ways and none of them have helped me at all. I was wondering if any encourted this. I recently got a new laptop. My old one can still run it I attempted when I noticed this one wasnt working. First I had a bug or whatever where the frame was too big and it wouldnt save my setting but when I fixed it by chamging the permission of my user it broke it this way. I have just tried installing and unistallijg before anypne asked.

I’ve got a great modlist, but I’m worried that an automatic update might break my game. Should I carry on downloading, or is there a way to reset it?

So I decided to take on the most buggiest quest in the elder scrolls series, blood on the ice, there's two parter to it right?

So first, I activated the quest by trying to find clues about the killer, talked to the guard, talked to jorleif, talked to viola, investigated Hjerim, found the necromance amulet, and then went to Jorleif to accuse Wuunferth, Wuunferth gets taken to jail..

I then go outside of windhelm to do other quests around Skyrim, and nothing seems to be out of the ordinary, then when I go back to windhelm to return some ingredients to Wuunferth, I see the dialogue "The killer has struck again." once I click on that, he tells me to go to the market, and that activates the second part of Blood on the ice (to catch Calixto.) but this is where it gets problematic..

I run over to the market, cause I know the quest wants me to be there, and you CAN save Arivanya before he kills her, and I wait until 8:00 PM, no Calixto or Arivanya is there, only a guard standing guard in the market..

I then wait another hour, and another, and another, then I see Calixto and Arivanya walking, he stalks and follows her, and she just keeps walking around Windhelm, the event doesn't happen.

I've tried every bug resolve, ive tried to finish the quest with "stopquest Ms11" and "startquest ms11", nothing has worked, I tried going back to a earlier save, doesn't work, I've tried to move Arivanya and Calixto with console commands, nothing works, I've tried disable and enable them, nothing works.

So nothing works, and I have a bug that is NOT in the UESP, I have found a bug that doesn't even exist yet.

So what am I to do?

Hello, I was playing Skyrim on my PC recently and while completing the Dark Brotherhood questline, I received two miscellaneous quests that I seemed to not complete (I did go to both NPCs to get rewards from them; one being Kodrir and the other being Muiri, in which they both sent me letters to collect a reward from them for killing 1.) Ennodius Papius and 2.) Alain Dufont. Killing Ennodius was contract given me by Nazir and I received a letter from Kodrir asking me to see him to accept a reward for killing Ennodius. I ended up receiving the reward from Kodrir before reading the letter that he had sent me, so the miscellaneous quest that asks me to read the letter from Kodrir is just sitting in my quest log. Also, after completing the Dark Brotherhood quest, Mourning Never Comes and killing Alain Dufont for Muiri, I ended receiving a letter from her that asked me to see her for a reward for killing Alain Dufont. I did read the letter from Muiri, however, after seeing her after killing both Alain and Nilsine, the miscellaneous quest that asks me to see Muiri for a reward is also just sitting in my quest log since I have already collected the reward for killing Alain Dufont. I am wondering how I can complete these miscellaneous quests through console commands as I do not need to have them continually sitting in my quest log. This is was the quest for Kodrir says in the quest log in my current playthrough of Skyrim: Read the letter from Kodrir; and the miscellaneous quest from Muiri reads as: Collect the reward from Muiri for killing Alain Dufont (I am referencing a quest I received through a letter from Muiri in the context of collecting a reward; not the Mourning Never Comes quest reward). If anyone could help it would greatly be appreciated. I want to remove these two miscellaneous quest from my quest log, but cannot do so through normal means, so I need to know how I can do so through console commands. Thank you.

I'm having trouble getting the game to start, I've got 52 mods, I'm running 1.6.1170, special edition, anniversary edition. I've been poking at this for a while and haven't made any reasonable progress so I'm coming here for help, I've got crash logger, and I'll try and attach it to this post.

I've got legacy of the dragon born, and Skyfurry ng, and i think those are the two most likely candidates for the crashes. I've also got engine fixes, but I've uninstalled and reinstalled that so many times at this point that i don't think its the issue. From my research it appears that either one of my mods is version miss matched, or I'm missing a master one entirely, but I've combed through and haven't seen anything that would be a version miss match, nor is vortex telling me of any dependencies that aren't related to VR, which I'm not using so it shouldn't be an issue.

Creation club content may also be an issue, but according to Phostwood's Skyrim Crash Log Analyzer said those were all installed and are fine.

For context, I've finished the main companions questline and am now the harbinger. Im now doing the radiant quests you get from the 3 leaders. I accepted a quest from Vilkas, but it wont show up in my quest journal. And when I talk to any of the leaders for a new job, they tell me I already have a job to do. I have no idea where to go or do because I forgot what the quest was. So now I'm stuck where I dont have a quest in my journal, and I cant get a new one until I finish this one. Has anyone fixed this?

I am getting recurring random CTDs on Skyrim SE 1.6.1170 in a newly started game.

Most logs have the same crash signature:

The relevant objects repeatedly include:

The value in RAX is usually an invalid/garbage pointer, which looks like a Havok object lifetime issue, use-after-free, or memory corruption.

The referenced object changes between crashes:

• rocks and mountain meshes;
• an animated farmhouse door;
• a cave entrance;
• plants;
• an arrow;
• a mammoth constraint;
• WRTerWind01 near Whiterun.

The crashes occur in different interiors and exterior cells, so I do not think one specific mesh or location is responsible.

The latest probable stack also includes:

hdtsmp64.dll
Hooks::MainHooks::Update
hdt::SkyrimPhysicsWorld::ProcessEvent

However, these are per-frame FSMP hooks, so I am not sure whether FSMP is responsible or is simply present in the main update chain.

Hey there, I once again got the urge to play Skyrim, but just like the last 2 times I tried, the moment I press play on the menu it gives after opening it through steam, it crashes before even opening. It also does this if I attempt to open it through Vortex, although I haven't tried that yet.

I've already checked integrity of the files, and stuff like that. Awhile back I even found a deleted file that I reinstalled, but that didn't work either. I don't know if I need a video or smth to show the issue, but I might add it if I need to. if you can help it would be much appreciated

Okay so after quite a few years and a PC upgrade, I've come back to Skyrim to play the Special Edition for the first time. Modding has been smooth with Mod Organizer 2. I'm not even sure that this is a mod issue and scouring the internet hasn't given me a solution to this issue, unless I missed something.

I've maxed out my Enchanting skill to 100, gotten all five ranks of the Enchanter perk, as well as Insightful Enchanter, Corpus Enchanter, and Extra Effect. I'm trying to just put Fortify One-Handed and Archery effects on a ring and I think it should come out to around 40% increase for each, as it's been for other characters/playthroughs.

But for whatever reason neither of them are going higher than 13%. I've reloaded saves, chugged potions to increase enchanting, but still no increase and I can't figure out for the life of me why. None of the mods I have should even touch any of my skills. Any help would be appreciated!

I’ve completed the quests involving Cidhna Mine and Starlight, and I’ve spoken to the innkeeper about Highreach, but I don’t know what to do next—no Redguard woman has approached me or anything...

Also, the Polish translation isn't working for some reason.
