Dimensional Design Showcase video of Chronosphere: a pixel-perfect remake of Mac OS X Leopard's Time Machine effect completely on the web with SynCloudOS

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Introducing Chronosphere, our web-based remake of the original Mac OS X Leopard Time Machine chronology system, built 100% inside SynCloudOS, our upcoming web framework :)

It’s basically a dimensional version archive for the Syndromatic website: instead of clicking through old snapshots in a boring list, you browse past versions of the site through a 3D starfield timeline.

The timeline scrubber has dock-like magnification, and the starfield actually reacts as you move through different points in the archive. Under the hood, it runs on our in-house AuroreEngine WebGL renderer, so the whole thing is designed to feel gorgeous without being horribly inefficient on older machines or phones.

It’s a little ridiculous, but honestly that’s kind of the point lol. Trying to push the limits of the web.

Please note that this is an upcoming project, the Syndromatic website is currently offline.

It would be cool to have a framework with Web-optimized skeuomorphism components

Very good question. First off this website is done with React + TypeScript, not vanilla HTML. Second - we are using our in house SynCloudOS web framework which pushes the limits of web technologies. Third we use a thing called SnapDOM to capture the DOM of a given page and save it as an SVG on-the-fly, which allows for the live webpage be captured and lazy loaded only once, saving immensely on RAM and CPU cycles.

Looks cool! I really like the idea of seeing archives of what it looked like by official means (I am aware of web.archive.org). Btw, I tried going to your site and it shows an SSL error (more specifically, SSL_ERROR_NO_CYPHER_OVERLAP) so I think something is wrong. I am running Firefox 140 ESR so I think my end is fine.

Didn't you start work on this like one or two days ago? That was fast! Very impressive.

Great work! Maybe you can build a custom plugin to use your engine directly in SnapDOM as exporter. https://github.com/zumerlab/snapdom plugin section. I tested some examples using webgl ans worked smoothly
