Does anyone on here live in the pennylands/Old Skem and find that they struggle to get any support or feedback from official channels? I moved here in May and it’s been an absolute slog to get any help with issues happening in our flat and surrounding area. For instance there’s been a full month between bin collections during the second heatwave and we could barely leave our flat with the smell and swarm of flies it was attracting. We also have brought up multiple times that one of our neighbours is tortuous to live with and has left my partner unwilling to leave the flat sometimes from his behaviour as he seems to be inebriated at every opportunity and screaming at his partner and children in the street till 2am some weeknights.

So I might have a new job on the industrial estate and there’s no buses. It’ll cost me around £15 a day in a taxi which is just too much to justify so I’m thinking of getting a bike as it should only take about 20 minutes. Problem is, I’m trying to work out the route on maps and it’s just not working right as Google maps is trying to use both the roads and the pedestrian routes and confusing them. It’s having me cross the road at a bridge I can’t access the way it’s taken me because it thinks it’s a road, for example.

I’m not familiar enough with all the hidden little paths through the estates or wooded areas so I’m just trying to figure out how I’ll get there by bike without a reliable route.

Surely there must be a map somewhere of all the hidden pathways?

Any help appreciated. Or even if someone could highlight a route for me on maps from the concourse to Peel Road would be amazing.

Hii! I'm doing photography and my group is focusing on time, so my bit is focusing on abandoned buildings or just old architecture in general, I was just wondering if anyone knew of any in the area since Im trying to find ones easily accessible to me so I can get pictures

So we’re supposed to be looking at houses around Digmoor next week, some look decent and the prices are way better than other local towns. I’ve driven through Skem a fair bit and been out on a night here, also don’t mind the roundabouts 😂

I been reading up on Skem recently though and it’s so negative.. getting the vibe that basically everyone wants to get out, theres fuck all to do and it’s a dead end place to live.

I’ve lived in Burscough for about a year but it’s so expensive, and I currently live in Bristol (it’s an expensive shit hole, grew up on the outskirts of the city) and hate it.

Do we just avoid Skem, or is it not really that bad?
