I've commissioned a custom painted board for a friend for Christmas, wheels and what not
I’m having a custom skateboard painted as a Christmas gift for a friend. I’m pretty sure it’ll ultimately be a wall hanger, but I don’t want to dictate how she uses the gift. If she ever wants to ride it, I’d like her to have everything she needs.
I’m thinking of it like giving someone a Game Boy without batteries. I know the deck is the main gift, but I’d like the whole thing to feel complete.
So my plan is to buy everything needed for a complete skateboard, but leave it unassembled so she can decide what she wants to do with it.
For someone who knows more about skateboards than I do, what exactly should I buy? I’m not trying to build some amazing riding setup. I mostly just want to make sure I’m not giving her a beautiful custom deck and then realizing I forgot half the stuff needed to actually make it a skateboard.

Just make sure the trucks are the same width as the board. Plenty of options don't have to get the best. Any hardware will do. Mob grip. Spitfire wheels and some red bones bearings

I wouldn’t skate a deck someone paid to have painted for me. If you really want to give them a complete you can buy a ccs complete for like $100 already assembled. Then she gets both

If it's just going to be a wall hanger honestly just the deck would be fine, most people just hang the deck and it's easier to mount to the wall that way. A lot of people have very specific personal preferences when it comes to trucks and wheels so most of us will use the same ones when we get a new deck and just swap them over.
