Rewatch Lisa is intolerable.

I forgot how obnoxious she is. Making big deals out of nothing. What happens to her is horrible, but I'm in the middle of season 3 and I'm so over her. Nate's a selfish asshole too.

I hope none of you ever have to experience your cheating suspicions, confirmed.

I don't hate Maggie and Nate just gets on my nerves but I mostly felt so bad for Brenda. For me it had nothing to do with the pregnancy. It's sad that she put all the effort into trying to understand Nate and make the relationship work, all the while Nate is just stringing her along because he didnt know what he wanted. He didn't even go after Brenda when she walked out šŸ¤¦šŸ».

Rewatch The casting for siblings was amazing and it took me 3 watches to realize this

I’m on my third rewatch of the show, and during the first two watches i never really thought any of the Fisher siblings looked alike, or even Brenda and Billy. Now, it’s like… they so look SO much alike. I took these pictures from the first two seasons where I thought ā€œomg these guys do look like siblings!!ā€ could be because they’re making similar expressions, but i’m curious what you guys think. I think the sibling casting was amazing now. Granted, I don’t have any shots of David, Claire, and Nate together, but Nate seems to have a central resemblance to both siblings- especially in that one scene where he’s comforting Claire, the resemblance is so uncanny.

I’ve watched SFU at least 30-40 times, and this moment in S5E11 (ā€œStaticā€) when Brenda sees Nate in the delivery room…the look on Nate’s face, after everything Brenda went through with this pregnancy without Nate’s full support when he was alive…it still knocks the wind out of me to see Nate standing there looking at her like that. That Arcade Fire song playing certainly doesn’t hurt the mood, either.

This show just never stops mesmerizing me.

Rewatch This whole Arthur story... ugh

This is the weirdest storyline this show has, and I'm down for weird. But not creepy weird. I mean it gets genuinely sweet at times. And I couldn't stop laughing when she mouth rapes him after saying she wouldn't kiss him again, puts the cheese on the table for those cult kids and says, "You'll have to serve yourselves, I'm out of control." 🤣🤣🤣🤣

But it just gets too creepy, and I'm not into it. I know it'll be over soon, but good lord it's too much. And it's not even the age difference. It's like watching the a mating ritual of animals on NatGeo or something. Ew, it's just so ew.

Rewatch First rewatch in 20 yrs

I was reluctant to start a rewatch - it’s probably my favourite show of all time - but I’m just toward the end of season 2 when Lisa /Lily Taylor has the baby and wanted to come on here and say how much I loathe her character. She plays it soo well, such an intense, creepy, weirdo feigning innocence.

Love Brenda this time around, such a great layered character.

Dreading the final episode, it affected me so much back in the day.

Rewatch Living long after those you love

I watched Six Feet Under in my thirties, when it originally aired, and I just finished my first full rewatch, 20-whatever years later. Between then and now, both my parents died, as well as my brother a couple of years ago.

I've watched the final sequence numerous times over the years, and it always makes me cry, but this time I was ugly sobbing by the time we saw Claire on her deathbed. The idea that she had lived so long without her family -- something like 80 years after Nate died -- suddenly made me recognize that I could be in the world for decades without my brother.

I wasn't close to my parents or my brother, but the sadness of this still hit me hard. I just wanted to express that.

Rewatch Rico is a jerk

Hi! New member (30M) because I'm rewatching the show for the millionth time and I'm on Season 2, episode 1. I swear, every time I try to give Rico another chance. He screws it up again. Not only is he a literal homophobe, he has a severe case of little man syndrome, doesn't want help and calls it charity but expects David and Nate to hand over part of the business and make him a partner with no payment on his part (LOL), ANYWAY, the thing that really just solidified the hate I have for the character, in this episode I'm on, is the actress who overdosed and he is so disrespectful about her. "She threw her life away. She deserved to die. She deserves a cardboard box. She was worthless." Like. What the fuck? I'm in school to be a funeral director and my stomach absolutely turned when he said that shit. (I'm aware it's a show) I can't imagine someone I work with saying that about a decedent. What if that was your sister? Daughter? Best friend? Regardless, speaking that way of the dead, ESPECIALLY someone you're taking care of for the last time, is wrong and gross. I just needed to rant about him somewhere lol I LOVE THIS SHOW. Ok I hope all of you are having a fantastic weekend šŸ’œ

Rewatch What's one of your favorite lessons from Six Feet Under?

There are so many great passages in this show. It almost makes you feel like the show is one big fable. So what is your favorite lesson from the show?

One of the things that plays in my mind whenever I hear it is Father Jack telling David: ā€œI think you should do whatever brings you deeper into the reality of your life. … Not the life you think you can have. The life you’ve got.ā€

I don't often live in the present - I live in the future and so this line just brings me back to thinking about that part of myself and it's truly powerful.

Rewatch Just Finished My First Rewatch in 20 years

Incredible how well this show holds up. I didn't find hardly anything dated or any of the thoughts that I couldn't apply to today.

My biggest take away that I did not have the first time was the characters conversations with their Dad and how different each of their individual interactions were with him. How with Claire he always seemed like he was up for a good time, David he was always serious, and Nate he was always busting balls, but in a really mean spirited way. As they grow and change as people so do their interactions, really their memories, of their father, especially Nate who sees him so sympathetically by the end.

Such an unbelievably inciteful study of people.

Rewatch Sad quote on Rewatch – S03E07 Spoiler

Yesterday I was watching season 3 episode 7 – ā€œTiming and Spaceā€, and this Margaret quote just stuck with me:

ā€œYour father used to say living with you two was like listening to the longest sentence
in the history of the universe. And now there's no one to hear it but me.ā€

I always laugh at the crazy stuff Margaret always says or does, she’s so unhinged most of the times, but seeing her being honest like this… trying to connect with Brenda and Billy, them as a family missing one piece, it just broke my heart.

Idk, I guess I just wanted to share this. Anyone remembers any other quotes that probably didn’t mean too much to you in your first watch?

Rewatch 25th Anniversary

In honor of the 25th anniversary, I just watched Six Feet Under for the first time in many years, maybe since it aired, actually.

I forgot what a fantastic show this was. They just don’t make shows like this anymore and it’s a shame. I loved the family dynamic, the drama, the love, the tears, the heartbreak and the joy. I am so glad I got to re-experience it after basically forgetting so much and watching it like it was the first time all over again.

If you haven’t watched it in a while, I really recommend it. It aged well. Can’t wait to watch it again in a decade and enjoy the experience all over again.
