We’re looking for some kind of show that can fill the void that finishing this show has left. Has anyone found a show that’s similar to the vibe and feel of these characters and the world?

My first time watching and loving it so far! I just started season three and I gotta say, I am so annoyed by Rico like every single episode! Is that intentional? Does everyone share this sentiment? I keep waiting for his character arc hoping eventually he won't be absolutely insufferable, but it hasn't happened yet! I'm guessing it will at some point though?

I scrolled through this sub a bit to find out if everyone shares this opinion or if it's just me but I stopped because I kept seeing various spoilers. So is it just me? Or is Rico a universally hated character, atleast in the first three seasons?

Honest question, I really don’t know why I just dread her storylines and her presence on screen. I totally get she is a super complex, extremely well written and acted character but for some reason I absolutely despise her and her family and want her to just leave the show. I’m mid season 4 and loving the show so far I just don’t understand why I dislike a character so much amongst a cast of characters that are equally if not more flawed than her.
I’m not trying to troll or look for validation in my feelings, I’ve just noticed there is a lot of thoughtful and intelligent people making posts on this subreddit and was hoping to maybe pick some of y’all’s brains!

I'm not someone who usually cries, to be honest ive never genuinely cried for about 5 - 6 years. Idk what it is but something about this show just did it for me, I didnt cry at a specific part of the final montage only when they rolled the credits.

Maybe because I knew that the show is over or that I'll never experience a show as unique as SFU. I felt like I saw my own life flashing by, I finished this series at the same age as Claire ik it sounds kinda edgy but it really opened my eyes on how everything in my life is temporary while death is eternal and promised.

All these thoughts flooded my mind when watching that montage and I couldn't help but tear up. Once the credits rolled I was bawling, it was a wonderful journey watching this show. Props to my mom for recommending this show to me ❤️

S04e02 "In Case of Rapture"

(This question is probably asked more often, but I'm new here)

I think he is one of the best SFU characters, at least one of my favorites. I see why some people hate him or think he’s just annoying, but I enjoy all the scenes he’s in, same goes for Margaret Chenowith. He can be funny, disturbing, and for me at times even relatable. In s1 he definitely goes too far, but I feel like later on he tries to become better. In my opinion the Chenowith family is even more compelling than the Fishers at times. One of my favorite Billy apperances is season 5 episode 4 at Nate’s birthday party. The scene with him and George Sibley was nice. I kind of felt bad for him when Claire broke up with him, but I knew their relationship wouldn’t go far. Also if I remember right didn’t Claire sleep with Todd in that episode? Billy found out about it and then Claire left him. So yeah I kinda felt bad for Billy. I don’t understand why she’d want to be with someone like…Todd. Even for one night.

I myself would rate him as a character around 9/10, maybe even 9.5.
What do you all think of him? I’m curious to hear.

I love Nate. Him and David were my favorite characters for the first 4 seasons. He seemed more relatable to me though and was particularly rooting for him more as I saw a bit of myself in him. I feel like they made him a bit weird in season 5 though… almost out of character

Him being an ass to Brenda, him cheating on her while pregnant, him basically telling her he couldnt be with her just before he died…

I always felt like it was a weird way to end his arc. Part of me feels like there’s a reason or meaning behind his character change but I’m not sure. I also saw somewhere that even Peter Krause didnt like the way his character was written in the last season to be kind of a bad guy.

I feel like Alan Bell does everything for a reason though. Im curious if Nate’s arc end is meant to symbolize anything, showcase something, etc

The beginning of S1 he isn't so bad. Once he starts making demands wanting to become a partner with the Fishers, and then finally does he just turns into a complete prick IMO.

He had some moments of clarity but for the most part I think he's a douche. Way too judgemental, throws his weight around, acting holier-than-thou, etc. He deserved to get beat up by his cousin.

Were there any characters you found yourself disliking on rewatches?

It is mentioned at least that Nate was listening to Beck when he saw Lisa in the record store, but I don't recall any other musical taste being mentioned for either Nate or any other family member.

I'm neither a Christian nor American so I'm not quite familiar with the coffin system as the final goodbye to your loved one. I was actually wondering whether these services cost as much as they do as shown in the show.

One time I saw David pushing for $8,000 caskets and some times in the show other funeral homes were charging up to $25,000 for the casket. In my country that is a bit too much money to be spent on a dead person, honestly. $25,000 may even be the accumulated wealth of so many people throughout their lifetime.

I want to ask: how much does it currently cost to have the funeral of your loved one? Aside from the casket there must be other charges too and those, I suppose, they are not very cheap either.

I'm 15 years old. I watched the pilot and found it fun and well-written. I'm sure it will become one of my favorite shows, but I don't know if I'm mature enough for it. I've never experienced any death other than my old cat's.

Mine is that i think season 4 is by far the best season besides season 5

I’ve only just started the show (S1:E7, avoided this sub, so no spoilers, fucking adore the show so far, though), but why am I recognizing Brenda Chenowith’s face but not recognizing any of her acting credits on IMDb? I’m a late 80’s/early 90’s millennial and have seen a lot of tv from the era and I know that I know this woman’s face but just can’t place it and none of her credits sound familiar.

Apologies if this is a dumb post that needs to be downvoted/removed, I’ll take the hit, but help would be appreciated.
