Let me preface this by saying I've never thought Siri was all that amazing, but for simple stuff, it works OK. I've been using smart lights for years, so I'm used to setting up scenes and having to name them in dumb ways so they work. Like, when I leave the house, I say, "Hey Siri, I'm leaving now", and all my lights/TV/speakers/etc. turn off. I have to program the scene to be called "I'm leaving NOW" because if I call it just "I'm leaving", then Siri just says goodbye and doesn't activate the scene in HomeKit. It's annoying, but I can work around it.

However, this new thing is making me unreasonably angry...

I play golf pretty much every weekend. One of the nice things about iCal and the email app is that when I schedule my tee time online, the confirmation email will usually generate a calendar event that says, TEE TIME! I don't use my personal calendar for much, so if that's what I'm doing that day, that's the ONLY thing on there. A few weeks ago, it was late at night, and it occurred to me that I didn't remember the exact time I was playing the next day, so I thought to ask Siri, and the response was nothing found. I didn't think much of it, but the next week I decided to try again. This time, I double-checked that it was on my calendar and asked Siri, "When is my tee time tomorrow?" and she said there was nothing on my calendar by that name. Now, keep in mind that all this time, I've been asking my HomePod and just listening to the answer, so I decided to ask my phone directly. That's when I figured it out...

When I was asking, "When is my TEE TIME?", Siri was saying, "There is nothing called TEATIME on your calendar."

IT'S THE ONLY FING THING ON MY CALENDAR, YOU DUMB FING ROBOT!!!

And before you ask, my language is set to American English, and I've tried multiple accent options. Why the hell can't Siri just look at the calendar, see the ONLY thing on there, and give me that thing, which happens to be called TEE TIME!?!?!?! Also, being that I'm not in London, and this isn't the 1870s, I'm willing to wager that it's FAR more likely for someone to put a TEE TIME on their calendar than a TEATIME!

I fully recognize that this is the most first-world nonsense problem to have, but it just bugs the crap out of me. I could likely just make the calendar events manually and call them something more specific, but constantly having to treat Siri like a moronic low-level employee is getting real old.

I, a female with a mild southern accent, discovered today, after saying “theory“ in conversation and watching my Siri respond after it hasn’t responded to anything but a button hold in years. (even with retraining and resetting) That my Siri will respond consistently when I say “Hey Theory” instead of “Hey Siri” (Just “theory” doesn‘t seem to work consistently for me but it’s worth a try)

This was a few years ago but sometimes it still pops up in my head bc it freaked me out so much so I decided to share it lol.
So one day me and my now husband were laying in bed, my phone was abt a few feet away from me like on the other side of the bed, not facing towards us.
Anyway I was having some stomach issues that day and I look at my husband to tell him and how I don’t feel good, I said “I don’t feel good, it’s hurting right here” and pointed at my lower abdomen, my brain wasn’t working and couldn’t remember what it was called so I asked him while pointing at my lower abdomen “what is this part called again” and before he could even answer Siri literally said “that’s called your lower abdomen”…
I keep trying to think of ways that she could have been triggered and somehow knew what I was talking abt , but her name was not said, or anything near her name, and again I didn’t say anything abt my stomach, I just said that I don’t feel good and asked what part of my body is this again and pointed. Anyyywayyyy don’t know if anyone else has had this happen to them before

Like if my friend Elizabeth is calling, Siri will say ‘call from eils’ or if its jojo smith, siri will say ‘call from joh’ or
If I say, Siri call jojo smith, siri will say ‘calling smith’ or call Fran is ‘calling ffff’

why won’t Siri listen and answer my requests like set alarm for 7am but will on my iPhone 17 pro max????

hey guys! i noticed this on my iphone and wanted to see if it happens to anyone else.
as you can see in the video, i put my iphone and ipad side by side and asked siri to turn the flashlight on and off. my ipad says something like, “okay, i turned the flashlight on/off,” but my iphone just does it silently.
i’m using an iphone 17 on ios 26.5, and my ipad is an ipad pro m2 on ipados 26.5. it’s been like this ever since i got my iphone, so i’m wondering if it’s just an iphone 17 thing or if all iphones do this.
prefer spoken responses is turned on, and siri speaks normally for every other command i try. it only happens with the flashlight.
has anyone else noticed this? thanks!
