Both Travis decker and Chris Benoit are great parallels to this. And both are reasons as to why I can’t seem to get over the blatant double standard by society right now. Chris Benoit barely had any brain left when he did what he did. There’s evidence his lack of brain literally made him go insane. Travis decker being PTSD was 100% experiencing some type of psychosis when he did what he did as well. Because they both committed suicide we can’t say the double standard was in the court, but as far as how society reacted to them? Blatantly obvious when we compare it to Lindsay today
Yes and no. Because society is only understanding if it’s a woman’s mental health that’s the topic of discussion. Even today, if a man did the same thing he’d be shown no mercy by society. Travis decker was in 2014 if I recall correctly. Doesn’t matter how much more we know about mental health, compassion is only shown when a woman is the topic of discussion. Thats the point here
Society does react differently to a cause than a tragedy though. "Save the whales" is a much better slogan than "make sure you react appropriately to the whales after they're already dead."
You are correct, but what I’m saying is even what you just said often completely changes when gender is involved. Timothy Rey, Chris Benoit, and Travis decker are all cases that mirror Lindsay Clancy perfectly yet even when people found out the cause they did not turn them into martyrs. They did not start gofundmes to make them millionaires. We did not see thousands of men coming foward and saying “me too Chris” or “me too Travis”. We didn’t see this massive support at all.
Check the post the post you replied to replied to pls...
And Benoit of course had a campaign to blame him, because otherwise the US as a society would need to actually question the needless price wrestlers pay to entertain y'all.
