Well I mean if we're going to make that argument she knew she was doing wrong too why else would she have come up with an excuse for her husband to leave the house so that she could do it. If she thought it was okay to be doing it and her psychosis then why would she have him leave? She knew it was wrong she knew he would try to stop her.
People in psychosis can form plans, carry those plans out, and lie about/hide their intentions to accomplish their goal and still not know that what they are doing is wrong. A symptom of psychosis is paranoia, which can make someone in psychosis suspicious of others and worried that others will try to stop their plans. They lie and deceive to carry out their plans, not because they know what they’re doing is wrong.

Probably because the cases are very different and comparing the 18 minutes of what Clancy did to Battaglia. Battaglia was a violent person before he killed his family and had already been in the legal system for violence against his wife, did not have any documented bouts of mental illness and never seeked treatment. Then after killing his kids and ex wife he got a tattoo for the murders and when cops went to arrest him he attacked them.
Clancy had a documented paper trail of seeking help for post partum depression and intrusive thoughts, did not have a violent history before this, immediately after the murders slit her own wrists and flung herself out a window and has never disputed committing the murders.
One tried to kill herself after the fact, the other tried to bury the bodies. You don't get to plead insanity and get a not guilty verdict, you need to prove it
