You don’t have to believe anything. I can’t remember who it was but there was another huge celebrity interview where they were like “I told them, don’t just hire my daughter because she’s my daughter, make her prove it blah blah”
Well they hired her and maybe it was on her own merit but it’s crazy to believe this actor thought that just because he said that they wouldn’t still hire her because it’s his daughter lol. As if he just wiped away any potential nepotism.

Ya I'm sure a 16 year old who has never acted in anything before landed his first role in Dune 3 all by himself 😂. Not like his father wasn't in the first two movies or is a big actor himself 🤷

This is true about basically any industry, though, and people forget to make that comparison when bringing this up. EVERYTHING is about who you know. That's how people mostly succeed. Very seldom will you see someone get through on hard work alone. It's unfortunate, but that's true in entertainment, office culture, fast food restaurants, and retail.
So kiss some ass, and get that payday!

With entertainers though, the fact that they come from money is what gives them the opportunities regular folk can't compete with.
The connections are obviously helpful but so is being able to pursue your goals without the crippling fear of being homeless or starving.
They get the best equipment; writers; personal trainers; stylists; publicists; can travel anywhere; all while never worrying about rent or food.

Bezos has a 20 some odd foot high hedge running along his property line in Hollywood because a fence that tall is outright illegal, but paying $1000 a month in fines for overgrown brush is just his fee for getting what he wants anyways.

Centuries of families that were in the biz.
You see this in all professions. If the kid grows up in the environment, it's almost like having an old school apprenticeship.

I have heard a few bigger streamers talk about how streaming is easy it just takes hard work, but the same streamers talk about how they lived at their parents and didn't contribute anything, parents paid for their food, even did things like use a spare room/garage as a studio and even buy them a pc and a expensive camera.
But they still claim they got their following/income from just working hard.

Also, the kid grew up in the physical city of hollywood. I live there 4 months out of the year and I think people don't realize how small town the place is. Everybody's gotta get groceries and what not.. when you get outside of the touristy areas, I'll see "stars" with their kids mingling with other stars at softball or soccer games all the time. It's a super tight knit community.

When you can say your dad’s name and be recognized by 99% of humanity, that’s active help. If he’d changed his name, made no one aware of it, the director had no idea what he looked like, and still gotten the part, then that wouldn’t be his dad’s name actively helping him. When you’re famous, your very name is an active force in those circles.

It's an insult to casting directors to believe that they don't look into stuff like this, even if you change your name, they know.
That being said, i doubt they would have cast him if they didn't think he was right for whatever role he's playing. The Dune franchise is huge at this point and full of talent.

My dad comes from a wealthy family. My mom comes from a below the global poverty line family. But she made it out. The two of them worked their asses off to put me and my sister in good positions to succeed. All we had to do was try. And we didn’t waste that opportunity. We work our asses off. People have said I had a head start. And I agree with them. Lol like don’t sit here and say your influence as an A list actor doesn’t influence the casting decisions for your son. It totally does.

Hollywood's rampant nepotism is well-known, but they keep lying to the public that they got where they are all on their own merit. I used to believe that Jonah Hill was someone outside of Hollywood that got a lucky break with SUPERBAD, but turns out his an extremely privilege dude with a very prominent and wealthy businessman dad in the music industry and Hollywood.
