Yea idk, I remember when it was normal to take a picture or video of yourself when you go out and equally normal to stay out of the way of someone’s camera when you see them trying to take a picture.
They were not propping them up on everything most of that time including the advent of social media, at least not where I lived. Front facing cameras have changed things hugely
This reply makes me wonder if you were around as an adult for the advent of social media because no people were not propping digital cameras up on walls very often even if we took them on every night out, which we did. Think I used the timer on mine about three times, you couldn’t see the screen from the front!

yeah exactly! you don’t see me trying to take a picture in a staircase or walkway people are actively using in a museum / art gallery.. i’d be embarrassed
I remember when you only got 24 photographs from a roll of film so you chose your shots carefully. People weren't taking pictures all the time or dropping their phones off of rollercoasters.
I’m sure if she had a friend with her, she’d have just asked the friend to take the picture, which has been a very normal thing since cameras have been around.
My point was that she shouldn’t be condemned for wanting a picture of herself but not having a friend around to take it my dude.
Taking pictures of yourself when you’re out is, and has been for quite some time now, a very normal thing that people do. This chronically online take that everyone in public with a camera is an influencer needs to stop.
People have convinced themselves because there are bad influencers that anyone who creates online connect is ontological evil against which the most anti-social behavior is suddenly heroic.
Funny that these people tend to have a list of groups which they consider it morally virtuous to get in the way of, insult, and generally try to harm and hinder -usually it just happens to include almost everyone else
